I am looking for a set of plans for the Bell 407GX so that I can build a 1:1 scale flight simulator for personal use. Would you know where I could find a set?

Thanks again for the nice comments guys, :)

Hi Patrick, You must be familiar with the 206 rotor head since you know what resides inside the grip. I did indeed include the retention end for the straps, no straps however. :) The pitch could be made to change since all the individual parts (for the most part) are assembled like the full size one excepte for the swash plate, it does not articulate it just slides up and down (collective).

Thanks again for the kind words!

George

When looking at the 206 head I can see the end of a T-T strap in the grip, did you make all of the head functional for component movement? What a great undertaking, you have talents FAR beyond hobby work. Ever considered smaller scales to sell to operators for desks and gift presentations? Quite a market exists, the ordinary stuff that's available today is fairly crude and unimpressive.

Keep posting more as you progress, A HUGE THANK YOU.

Since I don't have room for a 10ft Bell 407GX on my desk, this is the next best thing. My version of the Bell 407GX Instrument Panel as a desk model.

Small LCD displays will be installed soon and will have animated screens (system start up perhaps?).

Thanks!  It sure helps working in 1/4 scale versus the smaller scales. I have great admiration for the incredible work I see here..I don't know how you guys do it! :)

That's just beautiful work, I too would have sworn it was the real thing if you hadn't told us it's a model!

I finished up the static main Bell 407 and Bell 206 main rotor blades, to display them I fabricated a rack similar to the wall mounted ones I've seen in hangers.

Hello Rotor George,

Bell/Textron has had it's work cut out for them with Eruocopter taking over where the 206 was in the 80's with the AS-350/55 and EC-airframes. With the 407 they should be competetive in the light twin market once again. I'm alway looking at Pacmin models when I go to heliexpos....

back in 2011 at Heli Expo Bell Helicopter announced the Bell 407GX. Here's my attempt at the Instrument Panel with dual Garmin 1000's.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

@Heavyarty I don't see myself building anything smaller then 1/4 scale at the moment.

Very nice.  Any chance you can scale them down to 1/32 or 1/35?  If so, they would be useful to update the old Revell kit.  Also, any chance you could do other rotors, such as Bell 412, UH-1Y/AH-1Z?

Hi guys,

With the feedback I've received regarding the detail of my rotorheads I thought it would be cool to have them displayed all on their own. Here's the 206 mounted on a nice walnut base.

Thanks.

I made a mold from the master part. So to lay up a fiberglass blade takes a total of 3 days.

Day 1, prep and paint the mold...let cure.

Day 2, lay up the part and close the mold...let cure.

Day 3, open the mold and release the finished part.

Start all over again for the second blade for a Bell 206. But the Bell 407 required this to be done a total of 4 times for a total of 12 days. I could cut this time in half if I made a second mold.

Wow, great work George.

How long does a blade take you to make?

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure how to change the title of this thread to include the 206 rotorhead.

It's been a while but finally finished my 1/4 scale 206 rotorhead and blades. Next up, the pitch links and swashplate then I'll move onto the tail rotor assembly.

Until next time,

George

Hi Guys,

Here's a shot of my finished 1/4 scale Bell 407 out on the ramp with the rotorhead and blades all installed.

Now it's time to fabricate the Bell 206 rotorhead and blades. I have a pair of full size Bell 206 rotor blades in my shop to take all the dimensions off of. Big Smile

Hi Guys,

Well here's my completely painted and assembled 1/4 scale Bell 407 Rotor Head.  I have some finishing touches to do on the 4 blades then I can mount them.

Thanks, I appreciate it guys!

@rotorwash I haven't started on the engines yet but they are on the "to-do" list once the 206 rotor head and blades are complete. I may consider another model build once I finish these three.
