Basically Delta uses whatever they want.  There is no real standard for them.  So whatever you use can't really be questioned.

Rangers use/used standard Army gear.  The Rangers in Somalia had standard Kevlar helmets, M16A2s, green ALICE web gear, etc.  I don't think they used knee pads then.  About the only unique gear they wore was the RBA (Ranger Body Armor), which was a predecessor to the lighter IBA that is worn today.  They were two-part body armor that was put on over the head and had velcro straps at the sides to secure them.  They also had ballistic plates front and rear.  Most of them were woodland camo as well.  Also, They wore the 3-color DCUs.

The things that I'm having touble w/ are trying to decide how much black, and how much green gear the Deltas had/ used. Right now, I have them in black vests, knee pads, helmets, goggles, and boots. I'm planning on painting some of the gear/ pouches OD and adding some tan to there weapons. Again, not sure how accurate all that is, but I figure if I can't find pictures to go off of I'd like to see the judges/ rivet counters to produce them!

If you've got any opinions on the matter, I'd love to hear them .... Gear used by SOF during that time is WAY before my time/ experience.

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks.  Yup, mine are more modern with the MICH helmets and kneepads, etc.  Mine is a 2000's version, not meant to be Somalia.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks again, Steve ... but I'm pretty bias towards your "Flame" .... have you sent that to FSM yet? ... and what about shows in the near future?

Gino ... AWESOME! Thanks for that link. It looks like you went w/ a little more modern route w/ the Rangers. I don't know if I'm going to be 100% accurate w/ the uniforms as I only have a few reference photos to use. But I'll make the best of it.

The Littlebird and Delta Operators are looking good.  Building is shaping up as well.  It should look really good once it all comes together.  Good job.

This is truly inspiring work, I just keep looking at your painted figures and every time I do I just say the same thing, "WOW"! Also, another way you could make those shingles is to take styrene rod and cut it into lengths and cut those vertically, does that make any sense? Again yours are fine and I am not saying that you should change them, it is just a suggestion for the future.....

Great work, thanks, Jim

As I said in the Heli-GB thread it looks great!

The building-base is great, too. I suppose you're going to weather those shigles, because of now they look to new for the dio.

So ... its been, what?!? ... a month and a half ... I've had worse ... : )

Finally, got back to this one ... somewhat ...

Got the helo put back together, repainted, decaled, and pretty much finished up ... just a few outstanding details here and there.

Here are the 4x Delta Operators ... primed and ready to be fixed up before painting ...

And .... a quick look at my 3rd (and final) building to be used for the base. As w/ the rest of my buildings, this one is made of Styrofoam. The shingles were made from a formed, vac-u-cast sheet of colored styrene, backed w/ styrene sheet strips to resemble wooden framing. Posts are made from tooth-pick ends and the inside was blocked off to make the building seem more "whole" when the final product is viewed.

That's pretty much ot for right now. I'm working to finish this one up either today or tomorrow as its going to the Lone Star Figure show in Cedar Park this coming weekend. I KNEW I needed a good excuse to get this one finished! HAHA!!!

As always .... all C&C welcome.....

Thanks Avus, I'm glad that you were pleased w/ ATs decals ... that makes me feel better ... but how in the world did they get them to you so fast!?!

As far as the build .... I want so bad to take this one to a show this coming weekend, but there's a lot of work left to do. I can't even begin to finish up the helo until the rivet decals get here .... should have never found those things (haha!). I'm going to out of town on Friday, so I have to be done w/ everything Thursday afternoon ..... That's only four days!

I guess all I can do is work one step at a time and see where I end up .... Either way, I most likely won't post an update until next week. I'll probably be staying away from the forums all together just so I can keep working ....

Thanks for the encouragement ....
