Looks good!!!

If I may nitpick you might paint the sidewalk or the road a little darker or lighter than the so they'll stand apart a little more, that's my two cents though, use it or toss it- your choice!

Gamera,

You can nitpick all you want to. That is the only way I can get better. See if the photos are what you mean.

The base is no way complete. I still have to get the wall sections painted and add more debris. _Please let me know any pointers and tips to complete this dio.

Thanks in advance.

Doug

You know the more that I look at the dio I do not like it. It is way to big and for the subject matter It looks to busy. Six figures may be to much for this one.

Also after looking at the angles you all are right. It just does not fit. I may just use some of the things that I have made and build a smaller dio.

Tell me what you think.

Thanks,

Doug

Here is a smaller version. Less clutter. Still in the starting stage.

Howdy!

I think somehow your regular readers missed it. Happens all the time... I like the new version - those angles really make it more interesting. One thing to consider would be this: what kind of road paving do we have here? Is it right for the period and place? Did you get any photos to back you up? It's always a good thing to do.

Good luck with your projects and have a nice day

Paweł

All comments and critique welcomed. Thanks for your honest opinions!

Thanks for answering Pawel

I just thought I had said something wrong. Since I have gotten back into modeling I am having to learn the right way to do things. I used to just build without doing research and all. That is a habit that I need to get out of. The street is probably not right for the time period or location.

I guess I was so eager to build this dio that I just went at it with no thought about making sure the items were era specific. That is something that I need to really work on. It is not like I do not have the time to do research because I am home all the time.

Thanks again for answering. You have a great day yourself.

Ye, we seem to have missed this one. Is this a new base or the old one redone. Even though I am not a big fan or following the GB rules, the angle's do look a lot better in this one. Are you going to add some rubble or a bit of a building on the front right corner. And the small bit of path on the other corner suggests more in the part, which is good.

Hey Nomad, looks good- I too like this version better than the older one.

And sorry I missed the post, this section gets somewhat less traffic so I don't check here as often as I do some of the more busy forums.

I understand. Well to answer your question Bish Is yes this is a new base. I took your idea of the plaque and used it here. (Hope you don't mind.)

Here are the photos. I renamed it to "House to House Berlin 1944."

No problem. I just thought I did something. I understand that with all the building and such that somethings get over looked. I am probably as busy as most of your are. I sit at home all day and have nothing better to do but work on dios or models when I have them and sit here on this darn laptop.(LOL)

Thanks,

Doug

No, it doesn't get a lot of traffic in here. That's why I do WiP threads in the relevant section rather than here, even though the end result is a dio. And I always cross post completed builds in here as well. It does tend to get over looked.

Nomad, no problem in using the nameplate idea. That looks a lot better. Now a scene like this doesn't need a vehicle to bulk it out.

My recent dio's have been pretty simple affairs when it comes to bases. The one with most in it was the Pz III dio with the classical ruins. But when I get to doing some more complicated bases with buildings and such, I plan on running two threads. One in armour just for the vehicle and one here with a little on the vehicle but concentrating on the base.

But generally speaking I find it better to put things in the respective forums such as aircraft or armour.
