Aric, the 1/48 dio looks like it will be too big to fit the category, but the ship dio looks like it would look great! What scale are you planning to build it in?

Hemble, are you in as well?

Aric, if you could, I would like a badge possibly with a ruler, or some sort of measuring tool in the background, with the words Tiny Diorama GB in the front. That's just my idea, if you want do design your own unique one, give it a try!

With the beginning coming tomorrow, I plan to reveal my plans then, and start!!Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]Tongue [:P]

The water scene involves a 1/48 scale model, and sitting in its box waiting for doing. I have two more on the way to me to accompany the boathouse diorama. I kinda figgered that one would be too big anyway. But the crashing waves idea involves 1/48 scale model as well, just the overall dio is model plus waves, and not much beyond the immediate boat size. Possibly a case of a rescue of a rowboat with a survivor or two or some such.

In any case, would be glad to whip up a badge this weekend for ya to see what you like, whether I fit the bill on this one or not.

We gonna have a badge to sport after this GB is done? I can design something funky if you like. I do a fair bit of art using several programs (GIMP, PSP, etc.).

Fish-Head Aric,
Sorry! There is a digital camera on the Christmas list, however........
Maybe I should try a bigger one on, say, a 2 pence piece.......

Although not joining this GB, some time ago I built a 1/350 scale diorama on a UK 1 pence coin!! A small section of plastic card ship decking, an anti-aircraft gun tub with the gun and brass etched sights and shield, ready use ammo lockers, a crew of two in the tub, a visiting Officer on the deck and another sailor with one foot up on a section of ship's railing at the back! I take it to exhibitions, place it on a sheet of paper which tells visitors there is a diorama there, and provide a strong magnifying glass on a stand so that they can see it!! It has caused much laughter and discussion about the difficulty in finding a good source of trained spiders to do the build..........!!

Cool! Would love to see a picture!

Tentative to my acceptance in this, the diorama I strive to build will be recreating this scene, in 1/48 scale:

Never done something quite like this, and am not even sure if it fits as a "mini dio," so if this isn't the right gig, please just say so. I just happen to be scheming on starting this in late October/November for other reasons already..... So gimme the go-ahead or the nay! I will be building it either way.

If this doesn't fit the bill, then the other dio I am just beginning this coming week, much more simplistic and not as large, will be along the theme of this pic:

Sure, but just this onceWink [;)].

As far as the 1/48 scale dio, I'm not one to refuse anyone... what do you all think??

Also, how does March 1st sound for a finish date? Or should I extend it?

welll heck, what if I am doing a tiny diorama, as in the whole size of it would be less than 9" x 9"? But the model is 1/48?

Tiny Diorama GB Oct. 1-Mar. 1
Posted by stukabomb88 on Monday, September 26, 2005 9:10 PM
Welcome to the Tiny Diorama GB. I have been wanting to do something like this for a while, so here goes!

The rules...
1. The diorama has to be 1/72 scale or smaller.
2. It can be any type of vehicle, building, or scene. Large ships are not allowed. Most ships are already smaller than 1/72 scale.
3. The size of the dio doesn't matter, just try to add as much detail as possible.
4. Feel free to go crazy with super tiny details!!!Tongue [:P]
5. Have fun!

The Start date is Oct 1, to March 1
(anyone who wants to start a little later is welcome, as long as they finish in time!)

Here's who's in...

SSpanzer...
duckman...
PakNick-40...
Abdiel...
Fish-HeadAric...
hemble...
bultenibo...
Spinneyhead...
frostygirl...
Matt90...
