Group Build Idea... "Wasting Away"

whoohooo!  Have started working on my Gans... and am done with Step 1!  Still not sure about color... real toss-up between a gray or a tan/camo scheme still...

Ah well, at least am getting going with it...  But have a toss-up now about the scene... whether to stick to the beach idea, or to have it rusting away in a marshy-swampy-foresty scene...

Going to shop around Wal-Mart for figures.... I think I saw some at the Dollar Store that might actually jazz up well with special attention... hmmmm... If I do the swamp, I'll be looking for a skeletal sort... some toy character with a skull face...

Well Aric good to see you've started. Been kinda busy as of late, trying to get some computer maintenance done. got figures ready, and waiting to finish the water.

have you heard any news of anybody else making any progress.

Hello everybody Terry here, just thought I'd add I going to finish with this GB By Sept 16th and start on the wheeled warriors GB. Almost there anyway. The Polish artillery tractor which went some way to inspiring this GB is now on TANXHEAVEN in the new posts,

ahhh see now I have recently learned that this little GANS is not a manned vehicle, but a "drone."  So, no pilot dead inside ... I was wondering how that would work anyway.  Going to make for some fun with exposed components and such...

I do have a rather wild idea of doing something very odd with this... not sure how well received it would be, but...

well Aric glad to see your enjoying the build.  I think you should do what you want as its all about the technique.

when I got thte figures off my friend there was no arms so these little tikes have arms donated by 48th scale pilots, generous lads.

Interesting kids figures... when zoomed in they are too big, but look good.

When I have something that is worth submitting... in this case the head of the GANS in it's intended condition prior to weathering, I will be hitting up for a digital camera where ever I can to get some shots.  Right now I am working on getting it to that stage.  Hopefully finishing the model itself over the weekend at latest, in a "pre-weathered" state, with the basic paint sheme possibly done..

Cool Aric I look forward to your shots. I have very little knowledge of the subject.

On the way home yesterday I called into Games workshop and bought their water, 20 bloody quid, I have used it but am still waiting on it to dry, will keep you posted.

I know very little about the Ma.K stuff either... but I saw the robot models and decided I wanted to do them.  I'm not as keen on the combat suits that the genre seems fond of, but the vehicles and robots got my attention.

Here's a view of one built on a Ma.K gallery:

Their style remind me of the Star Wars - Empire Strikes Back imperial droid that is at the beginning on the ice planet - and I always liked that look.

got the ATST painted and letting the paint cure before i start to start the weatehering process

took a q-itip and made some rust spots by rubbing the paint befor eit dried

Well Aric that machine of yours certainly has potential. Just posting some W.I.P shots. I think you can make out the final layer of green before the pastels and weathering powder.

whew Terry, I think there's a bad case of tetanus just waiting to happen there

Thank's Aric, I have taken into account what somebody said to on the other post. the washes look a bit  too much on the kiddies, well the shots are huge but the figures are less than 30mm.

I edited the shots so nobody could see the water, the expensive games workshop stuff cracked. the water is in a bad state at the moment but should end up cloudy at the end so as to hide the crack.

The title of the secret playground is going to require that the scene be hidden, so at the back I'm going to build up some bushes, nothing elaborate.

excellent job Terry! have you tried the water from woodland scenics? thats what i use a lot of.

I have not even started this build yet, i`m still trying to get all of this house straightend out and trying to get several scratchbuilds going, busy busy busy!

Thanks Stipp for the heads up on the woodland scenic stuff. I was going home a different direction one evening and got the games workshop stuff. I really think this disaster is of my own manufacture and impatience. I'm going to do a mud bank and will be finished by the end of next week.

well Terry here again just finished the Dio. I decided not to invest anymore money in this as the bad attempt at water has destroyed it. I will post somemore shots during the week.

well i have been working on other projects and other RL issues so hopefully inthe next few weeks ill get so progress done  

i ahve the kit built for the most part just more weathering and painting to do

I got hung up with "real life issue" for awhile, too, but picked my motel up last night and resumed assembling it.  Am now thinking on what sort of damage it should have - thinking of exposed innards and such and how to realistically show breaches in its shell.

Summer busy-ness gets things put back on the list so often... a big reason I thought this GB should have a long running time was to allow for folks to get through summer and all.

I am involved in 2 other builds, but decided that I might have to go back and do some final work on the  Dio to provide some closure on it.
