Beautiful work on the Osprey.  If a new-tool is released in 1/72 I'll snatch one up, it has been on the to-do list for some time.  The bug bites harder each time I see one zooming over the base too.  Noticed the Ace in the Hole patch in the background, any ties?  My father retired from that unit many years back and I have been slowly acquiring a model of each aircraft the 111th flew, from Jenny to Predator-mostly 1/72 but couple 1/144 for the larger transports.  Nearly complete.  The major hurdle will be carving the time out of some other project to get working on them.

I got the patch at the Model Mania 2011 last Saturday. They were selling the patches and t-shirts. The Predator squadron was at the same table selling T-shirts, patches and prints of thier Predators.

Nice build.  I don't know if you already explained this or not but how did it go together?  I heard that this kit has some pretty bad fit issues.

It has some fit issues but I don't think it was that bad. I've seen worse (Revell F-14A for example). It's the inaccuracies that are the problem. But with some work they can be overcome since there are no aftermarket fixes.

Entered it in Model Mania 2011 yesturday. Didn't place but that ok. It was still fun.

Well here it is all done. I'm pretty happy with it. Some mistakes or things I wish I had done differently but it still looks good. Not bad for my first kit in 20+ yrs. Thanks everyone for looking and all the tips. Now the final pics.

It's bout done now. Flat coated it last night. It looks awesome!!! Just putting the engines, landing gear, and the fiddlty bits on today. I'll have pics later.

Pretty much what Herc said, but I will say that black pastels under a clear coat seem to get amplified and turn into a mess (in my experience anyway), every other color I have ever used did, totally disappear.

Sorry I didn't give my answer sooner....but good thing you did the future before the pastels, as putting future on over them would have made them disappear.  Looking good by the way!

In regards to shooting Future through an airbrush, just use it straight from the bottle, no thinning required.  To clean the airbrush after, just shoot some Windex through it.

You just need a light coat as it will level out on its own.

Thanks for the tip. I just finished doing the decals and putting the last layer of Future. Now just letting it dry.

I would wait until after the future/decals have been applied to do the exhaust. The stains would cover them, I would think. I have actually never shot future thru an airbrush. Ive always applied it with a flat brush. It levels nicely, and any runs/drips can be smoothed out by using a Qtip dipped in future.

All done with painting!!! YES!!!

Now I have two questions for anyone.
1) I want to add some pastel weathering on the engines. Do I do that before or after applying the Future?
2) Do I just shoot the Future on with the airbrush? Do I need to do anything special?
