XP-47J, Thunderbolt/ Superbolt, now.. a WIP

What nose art? The "Superman" one on the NMF bird?

Or are you actually wanting the XP-72 Superbolt?

Maybe something like these "Allies '46" P-72s?:

The Superman logo appears to be a painting of the 1940's-era Superman holding a lightning bolt... That's all I could find in my stuff anyway...  Here's a shot of him, note the chest insignia..

Get an artist friend that could do it up for ya and then you could shrink it down to size and print it on decal paper, perhaps?

those other ones are the " H" models... Sweet looking birds to..

the"J" had the shorter nose and the big fan inside the cowl..

The nose art looks like Superman holding s Lightning rod, or a "bolt" of lightning... but the pics I've found so far arn't very good, or you can't see the art well enough..

The kit instructions came with black n white art,, but again,, not very detailed, my officer printer is one with the solid 4 color inks, I'm kinda anxios to try this for decal printing.. and thought this might be a good one to try...

I just emailed Sharkit, they make a 1/72 scale, I asked if he had pics of his decals that I might be able to copy..

I have worked on the cowling and made seperators in the cowl scoop and made shaft for the prop so it can spin with the cooling fan..

Here is the backside, shwoing the dividers and bottom of the scoop and a reinforcing card piece on the top inside of the cowling. I used the back of my knife blade to seperate the cowling flaps.

Clear epoxy is holding the shaft.

I've added the resin prop from the conversion kit, and the cooler the rear of the cowling

Is this the variant that had the big Chrysler engine in it?  Just curious, I lost all my reference material.

Interesting side profile on this, can't decide if I like it or not yet! The work on the cowling & area is looking good.

Nice. I'm with Cy-Fair VFD on the EMS side. EMS is all paid here and the Fire side is volunteer. Sitting here at work today.

sorry for anyone following this, or lurking.. but Life stuff,, fire calls( we've been very busy) then Xmas have slowed any progress.

I also ran into a misshap appplying the black undercoat for the Alclad paint I'm going to try.. The black spattered like it was chunky, and even the 2nd coat which I strained did the same thing.. I used Alclad's black also..

Then, the black took days to dry...

The other day I dug it out and sanded it with 1000g,, its smoother now.. and progress is starting back up..

Seems fitting, wasn't Superman's creator actually a transplanted Canadian? Frank Schuster, right?? (No relation to Wayne & Schuster though...)

I have built the XP-47H, yhe XP-72, and the XP-47J.  I have the P-47 In Action book that has pics in it of all these aircraft.  If I remember, the -47J had basic stars and bars and the cowling markings were black.
