Elegant solution to the lights Chuck!

Good solution on the landing light Chuk. Have a number of those Dragon Ju 88 kits to build myself.  Only a couple will be built exactly as they came since I have acquired a number of spare parts to them from some other modelers.  Thus I will need a bit of shelf space I guess.

Just re-read the first post you made at the beginning of this thread!  One year is almost up!  Hope you have been able to do massive amounts of building lately.

Alas I don't think it really matters to all of us here!  We would rather see your Ju 388 built to exquisite detail and finished properly.  Can't rush perfection!  

Am ending up doing somewhat the same thing with my Hannover.  Just finally had to build something else for a small change.  (Also needed to do some experimenting with the new airbrush and renew my painting abilities)  So am building something from my old stash pile.  Lucky for me both Group builds have extended themselves.  

Finally I do hope you have had a fabulous holiday season and wish you and yours a wonderful new year!  

Thanks, gents!  Wow- it's been a month- and what a month!   Lots of different things have kept me away from the bench- health, family, work- but I've got this week off at home!  I can't say that I've blown the lid off this thing, but progress is underway.  I'll miss my group build deadline, but that's no worry.  It's all about the fun of building and painting for me!   I have interesting news pending about the color scheme, and I'm searching for a good schematic of the landing gear.  I have one tiny copy from the Aero Detail Ju 88 book, but remember having more stashed away somewhere!

Happy new year, everybody!  It's been a while- life, health, work- all have conspired to keep me from the bench.  I've had the last week off, and put in a lot of effort!  The results are, um... mixed.  Read on- if you dare!  

 Chuk,glad you're feeling better now. Stunning work as usual,shame about the wheel wells though I'm sure it will be handled well! Looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks, gents!   Help should arrive today, courtesy of Sprue Brothers.   Once I realized I'd put those $@#!! wells in backwards, I test fit the gear to match the well and viola!  The gear fit perfectly- only backwards.  DERP!   It should be an easy fix, then it's it's back to put all the delicate bits in the cockpit and add the canopies.

WooHoo Chuk!  Glad things worked out!  Those FUBAR items can really take the fun out of the build, but you saved the day.  Took on a second build to practice my airbrushing skills before doing the "F" thing to my Hannover.  For me the building is easy no matter how tricky.  The paint stuff . . . . . welll we will have to see.

Looking forward to the next installment.

BTW, how is the Kubel and the Well doing?  (Hmm that might go with "The Farmer in the dell" )

Glad you liked it, guys!  I was getting bugged by the idea that I've had this thing on my bench for over a year now, but then I remembered that I'd been alternating weekends  with the Well dio.  That means only six months or so!     Paul, I've put that one aside to concentrate on getting this bear beaten into one piece- but I'll get back to it, Scout's Honor!

Hey Chuk!

I do know what you mean, I worked pretty much solid weekends and some weeknights on the Hannover.  Loved how it was turning out, but really wanted to build something WW2 ish.  Have a number of the wonderful Eduard kits and the 1/32 Revell Ju 88 and new He 111 kits.  Also a bunch of old stock.  Decided I needed to do an old stock kit first.  Then might grab one of the newer kits before heading back to the Hannover rock pile.   So many neat things to build and so little time.

So is that Nachtjager the old stock build, Paul?  Post a link, if you'd be so kind!

I'm home with a virus and should have been painting pictures of robots all day, but here's what I've gotten done this weekend.  Cheers!

Here is the link for the Nachtjager. Right at the top of the page.  Fixing to go and start on the "pit" been doing some more research, though a lot of that has been on hold.  Managed to run my machine out of memory a couple of weeks ago working on the graphics for the post.  

Long story short ordered some more memory for the old beast and been testing it this last week.  Seemed to work just fine until I loaded up some games.  Turned out the memory just wasn't quite compatible and will have to try again.  This time will go with Corsair memory which has been in "The Beast" for the last 9 years.  Was a cutting edge machine when new, still runs beautifully but can't do the multiprocessor stuff.

Good recovery on the wheel wells.

The paint shadow "etch" is a good trick too.

So, is the spatter technique to break the monochrome or be representative of oil spatter or some more creative reason?
