Not that I know anything about hosting a group build, but I do know I really enjoy these tried and true Monogram designs.. With that being said, would there be any interest in a possible group build for strictly the old Monogram kits? (Be it packaged as Monogram/ Revell-Monogram/ Revell/ Revell of Germany) Just throwing the idea out there.
stikpusher I have that same twin set... It has been tempting me for quite awhile now...

I've built the P-47, soon as this B-36 gets done, I'll tackle the Do-335

Got em both! In fact the razorback is in the combat kit with the DO-335 I'm gonna build for for the GB going on. Also got the promodeler N. I usually replace barrels anyway just a thought that popped in my mind.

On the Bubbletop kit they erred on that part, but supposedly fixed it with the later Razorback kit.
If I recall don't the guns on the Monogram P-47s run with the dihedral of the wing as opposed to horizontal like on the full-scale version? Anyone fix this? Just curious.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Oh I do like it
here is one I finished a few months ago...
the Revelogram - "the Bug" P47
They all look great John! I especially like the pin stuck in the P-38's rear to keep it from tail sitting.
That's a big 'un, John!
Here are a three of my R/M builds, two recent, the P-38 is a survivor from 1965 when it was built. It's had a few prop blades and wheels reattached over the years. Funny, those gaps around the opening (still functional) gun bay and that glue seam down the leading edge of the wing seemed quite acceptable back then. Still do, actually, given the history.

I still need to finish my 111...
My 1/48 He111Z Zwilling Two He111H kits and a long OOP resin center wing. Sorry about poor quality this is a picture of a picture. Cat knocked kit off shelf years ago. Still have center wing and will rebuild. Second picture is center wing with 48th Me109 to give a comparison of size. John

Nice to see youse guys coming back here ;-)
Did someone say Monogram Mafia??
Thanks for the info stick! Great work on that! I guess the Wildcat doesn't have that with it. I really like your folded wings and it has inspired me to do one kit folded one not! Thanks for reviving this thread!

Hey Stick,
Thanks for putting up some more pictures of your Devastator!! It turned out really well and I'm glad you shared your build notes with us online. Changed shifts at work and hope to see the rest of the Monogram Mafia on the GB boards again soon!!!!
2022 New Year's Resolution: Enter 1 group build and COMPLETE a build this year!! Why Photobucket did you rob me of my one Group Build Badge??? Must be part of the strong anti-Monogram cartel!!!

Eagle and Rich, thanks for the compliments. Eagle, 95% of what you see there is the kit parts, although I did drill out the lightening holes from the molded in indentations in the armatures, fill in some of the less proper fitting mating surfaces, and scratch build the triangular braces between the outer wing rib and the upper skin from sheet styrene based on some photos.
Rich, I will have to look at that photo. I am pretty sure that I know which one you mean. I still have another of these kits in my stash that I will build as a Midway TBD. Not sure if I will do folded wings or not though.
Excellent job Stik. I was comparing it to the famous VT-8 deck photo of a crewman running alongside a TBD, and you matched it beautifully when it struck me that the Monogram TBD has a 40 year old error on it. Notice where the crewman has his hand on the aircraft. It is an access hole in the wing fold. I compared it to the Great Wall kit and noticed that they have taken care of it. I know that it is too late for this one, but my RCness kicked in (a hat tip to HVH).
WIP: Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 73rd BS B-26, 40-1408, torpedo bomber attempt on Ryujo
Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 22nd BG B-26, 7-Mile Drome, New Guinea
Minicraft 1/72 B-24D as LB-30, AL-613, "Tough Boy", 28th Composite Group
LONG LIVE MONOGRAM!!!!!!
Stik, that is a sweet TBD! Great work! Hey,can I ask you about the wings? I have a 1/48 Mono Wildcat (and another one one they way from an estate sale!) that I'm slowly working on and now that I will have 2, I want to do one with the wings folded and on with them open. I noticed your wings folded don't have the "toy" look to them and huge holes you can see up the wings. Is that the way the kit came? AM? Scratchbuilt? Just wondering since I already have the wings on the current one built to do the folding already. Thanks in advance for any help!
Ahh,some really impressive builds,a real blast from the past seeing some of the old names
I just realized that I forgot to add my TBD to here. And I finished it earlier this year.
C'mon folks, lets keep this thread rolling...
very nice!
