Nice job on the Hun MrRabbit!

MrRabbit, you cranked out one good lookin' Hun. I really like the heat staining of the rear fuselage. I'm working on the same kit at the moment, and I hope mine turns out as nice.

Nice work on your Hun, Mr Rabbit. She turned out very nicely... particularly the paint burn off look over the rear fuselage.

And now that we have the P-51s available for all to see, how about my P-61 Black Widow?  People love to say this is a dog of a kit but I disagree.  It builds up real nice plus it is the only 48th scale opening.

Here's my latest.  A kit released in 1955, the year I was born!

Revell D-558-2 in 1:54 or 1:64 scale.  Done for the X-Files GB.

Here's a P-61 I just finished, using the first photo as a reference.  I added an Eduard PE instrument panel and used their canopy masks.  I got a pilot from a Monogram P-40B and the ADF football is from a Monogram B-25 kit.  The paint is Tamiya on the outside and Model Master on the inside.  For the crew areas I added some black to zinc chromate green and untinted xinc chromate green was used for other interior area except the cowls which are aluminum.  It's hard to see in the photos but I did add some light grey exhaust staining on the upper wings. Kit decals were used for the stencils, cockpit placards, and the stars and bars.  The serial numbers and walkways were painted using stencils, whille the nose art and pilot names are from John's Secret Workshop somewhere in Northern California.  This was a first run kit and the moldings were very good, though I did have a few fit issues mainly due to the difficulty of getting everything aligned properly.  I got pretty close and have some ideas on how to get one togther with less headscratching and squinting.  The fit of the glass parts was near perfect, however I did work on the upper fuselage shape to get it to fair in with the gunner's station canopy, and to make it look like the real thing as the corners of the fuselage where it meets the canopy are too square, and should have an increasing radius of curvature from the turret to the canopy.  I am finishing up a build log on my website, the link to it will be here:

Having sworn off modeling for the afternoon I decided to read through this thread as I knew that might take a moment or two.  I did fix a link on one of my posts so the photo would show, some of my old links have died since I migrated my website to a new server last year.  What a shame that so much was lost because of photobucket, the creeps.  As I got near the first page working backwards (of course) I realized I had not seen any B-36 builds.  And then, finally on the second page Aggieman (Stephen) came through with his nice build.  But only one surely is not enough, after all look at how many have done yeoman work on the P-61, which among the unenlightened has about the same cache as a Williams Brothers B-10 (another undeserved cut, in my opinion).  So, even though I have been remiss in posting it here for some years, some photos.  I started it in 2012 and finished in 2015, by the dates on my photos.  It taught me how to do natural metal finishes, and how to compartmentalize a build to keep up the enthusiasm over the long haul.  It fit quite well, especially given the size of the kit, though I did spend some time on the wing cooling inlets, and still more time lowering the wing center section on the fuselage.  I am always proud of it and it is usually the first thing people comment on when they look at that display case.  And it is so big you can't get close enough to see my mistakes.  I have always planned to build a B-52D in natural metal to go with it, maybe I should get started on that!

You've done sterling work, John!  Both the P-61 and B-36 are great, especially the P-61!

Some super nice work everyone. Here is my latest (2022 build). 

1/32 Arado 196B. It was painted as a "what if" lend-lease from Germany to Italy for use in the Med. This was overall a wonderful build.

Another one I built years ago, its not an aircraft, but if performance was the attribute, it files! Started as a stock F150 4x4. It was combined with a Bob Glidden Pro Stock Thunderbird by Monogram.
