Great looking builds everyone! Just goes to show you what a great company Monogram was...I hope that Revell of Germany continues to make these old school kits available for a very long time to come!

2022 New Year's Resolution: Enter 1 group build and COMPLETE a build this year!! Why Photobucket did you rob me of my one Group Build Badge??? Must be part of the strong anti-Monogram cartel!!!

Just completed the 1/32 Revell of Germany Spitfire IIa. Model Master enamels (RAF Dark Green / RAF Dark Earth over RAF Sky Type II, flat black, RAF Interior Green and Insignia Yellow) with ALCLAD Aluminum on the landing gear legs and door inners. Clears are Model Master Glosscote and Dullcote. Kit decals, including the instrument panel. They're very nice and settled down well with Solvaset. There was some silvering but that's my fault. I should have cleaned up the QV-J a little better. Some complicated bits but overall a very nice kit. Completed out of the box.
Retired and living the dream!
Here's the 1/48th scale Monogram F-18 'Blue Angels' kit done up to represent a CF-18A of 421 "Red Indian' Squadron in the symmetrical markings era. Fit of this kit is atrocious. It fought me hammer and tong all the way. The centreline fuel tank will not fit with the wheels in the lowered position. It would only fit if it was built wheels up. The pylons contain basic 500 lb bombs and the wingtip rails feature rudimentary AIM-9's. CF-18's carry a searchlight on the port nose. I had to improvise as this kit isn't equipped for it. Paints are Model Master enamels and the exhaust area was done with Alclad II steel. Decals are from the now out of the decal but still producing self adhesive vinly masks Can-Mil-Air Decals.
Thanks for looking.
Mike
Before I went on my unintended 25+ year hiatus from the hobby, I had started on a Monogram 1/48 High Tech A-4E Skyhawk, complete with photoetched parts. All that time and three moves later, and I had kept it in its incomplete status.
After finishing two other models earlier this year, I decided to tackle this once and for all. The photoetched parts were pretty maddening, but as I got further along the easier they got. I ended up converting it to an A-4F (just a matter of eliminating some antennas) and used a great set of decals from AOA to depict the CO's bird from VA-55 aboard USS Hancock during Operation Linebacker in May of 1972. Didn't want to risk ruining my project with almost three decade old Monogram decals.
I'm still trying to work on developing some of my skills with weathering and finishing. I used a black Prismacolor pencil to highlight the raised panel lines. Has a nice subtle effect and is much less trouble than rescribing all the panel lines!

j Wonderful kit. Some inaccuracies but nothing you can't live with.
Great weathering job on the Catalina!

Finished this beast of a build moments ago. Another Revell kit that I managed to beat into submission. I built this same kit a number of years ago (long since gone to AMARG) and I don't remember it being such a pig of a build then. Some of it went together really well but the nacelles were a dog. I thought I swore alot when playing golf! Lots of putty and other fillers there.
Model Master enamels and ALCLAD II. Kit decals which were quite nice. Learning from my Spirfire II build, I cleaned up the fuselage codes by removing the film inside the 08 and C. Everything settled down well with Solvaset.

ShipwreckSo, Mike after all the modeling skills you poured into this project, you proved that old Revell kit can be built into a fine representation a B-29. Great job; thanks for sharing!
Shipwreck...Never clued in. Triangle and serial number is a one piece decal and I was so frustrated with the project at that point, I didn't care. I just wanted it off the bench. Small potatoes compared to everything else.
Nice work on your last builds, Murph! I especially like the Spit.

Here's another for the Monogram Mafia, and with the B-26A that makes two for this year, Don Stik.
More pictures are here:

A P-80A-1 using Fox 3 resin, vacuform, and decal additions, although many of the markings are painted instead of using decals.
A pair of B-29s for the record. The Enola Gay is a 1977, original, release, while the Humpin' Honey is the 2004 re-release.
Here's an old Monogram kit from 1983. There are more pictures in my finished build's thread. This one's just to whet your appetite...
Cheers!

Hi guys, so I'm back in the hobby after about 20 years, unbelievable how the hobby have changed in those years can't believe it! There is an air force base near where I live so I see F/A-18 almost every day so I decided to go with the Revell 1/48 F-18 to start it off!! Model is 100% brush painted and here is the result:
My last few builds have been Revell (reboxings of aurora and Eduard)
1/48 Cammel
1/48 DV
On the bench now is a 1/32 Revell PA-18 and a revell 1/144 F-14 d
Theuns

OK, I have not built a R/M for a little while, but I will start posting some here that I've kept. My first one is a rather rare Momogram kit of a wave runner with rider and water in 1/25 scale. It also came with a trailer (to be assembled)...
