Progressing at a rapid snails pace.....

Fermis tip #23.....Seperate canopy piece gets masked and glued to a sprue handle, so it can be painted at the same time as everything else.

Pre-shade with dark grey.

Bellies painted in several shades of light grey.

Nice job---contrast to the old kit is evident...Is that open flap exposed area supposed to be interior green or that bluish color???

The Kit has been around awhile.   I have some old scale modeler mags I inherited and this quick review was in the August 73 issue. I thought for the price it is a very nice build.    [View:/themes/fsm/utility/Photobucket:550:0]

i got one of these around a month ago, is mine the old one or the new one, i have no idea!

It is older but it builds up ok. Here are some shots of the one I built...

It has lots of mistakes but it was the second kit I built when I came back to modeling a couple of years ago.

Hey Hercmech, I dont know what mistakes you speak of on your build, look's like a damn fine build to me!

Ditto Looks damnfine to me!

Here's one I did many years ago, along with an "adversary". It was rattlecanned and my first go at doing something to accent the panel lines.....pencil.

That is their oldest 1/48 Zero kit. Externally nice, but inside is basic and typical of its vintage.

Again?

This is why I HATE summer, to much other crap that needs to be done (not to mention the bugs and sweating....I hate sweating!). I also hate vacations.....cost too much, and now I have 4 days worth of crap to catch up on.........stupid vacationBang Head.

Anyway, I'm hoping to get a moment this weekend to throw some paint. They'll be the standard IJN green/light grey, same thing for the "Pete". Daughters got a horse show tonight, so maybe I'll get some late night model time!

If you did not spit out models every other day, and built at my pace no one would notice that you were missing. Wink

Fermis, I loved that kit, built it when it first came out. Night and day compared to the old kit - which I still have in my stash! Your build is coming along very nicely, what color scheme are you planning ot do?

I thought I'll include a few more comparison pictures here, the figures included are also much better and includes 2 pilots and bigger (?!).
