Back in the day, I'd agree with you however several points work against that being the case IMO..  there's today's internet world of shared, accessed information, that the Su-25 has been operated by many countries and pilots with greasy palms, and that it is not a new, secret aircraft but an older one that has seen it's share of  demo time lead me to believe that it tops out around 600mph.

But if it can exceed the speed o' sound, then that does make the Grach all the more impressive for its role.   It's one of those airplanes that has really made me reappraise what I thought I knew about Soviet military aviation.

Did I mention how nice the two-seat kit is??

More like deliberate inaccurate info to the publishers, I remember in the navy seeing what magazines published in terms of stats on warships, they were usually wrong, the military rarely gives out accurate information about their equipment, on purpose obviously.

According to the internet, it doesn't.   Wiki lists the Su-25TM as "950 km/h 590 mph, Mach 0.77" and the other sources I quickly checked indicate 950km/590mph as well, although one did list the Su-25A at 975km/606mph....the Su-24 Fencer does exceed Mach (and looks like a MiG-23 doing so), perhaps the pilot was misremembering?

Probably would just stick with Russian AF, good account of an American pilot who flew the Frogfoot, I never would have guessed it went supersonic.

Get the two-seater, it's a great kit (although I imagine that the singler-seater is just as nice).

There's some good resin bits and quite a lot of Eduard PE if so inclined and even some decals are out there for foreign operators.

Cool, I'll watch that later tonight...

and speaking of Frogfoot's..

a base of Dark Tan/Gloss Gull Grey over the preshading, looks kinda interesting

Followed by a light Sand spraying and then a light Sand/Gloss White post-shading...  a lot less interesting.   True to form, I managed to obliterate 90% of the shading and leave hints of the underlying colors...  it looks gooder in person.

I've still got to make some large masks for the green cloud camo and then redo the green panels...

Well I know the MK is a command and control aircraft so it will have a different back seat as it has to be able to fight but the SQN commander has to be able to direct the SU-27's from it.

We'll see.   I have both kits but haven't looked at them side-by-side.  If the resin fits and isn't too different from stock, well then happy me.

Im sure the cockpits would be very different though.

Once I get my hands on one, I'll look and see if the resin cockpit set for the Su-27UB fits the Su-30MKK kit... just so we know as those kits' cockpits are rather weak and there's a lot to look at.

Thanks Dre, ever since I saw the SU-30MKK on TV at the Farnborough airshow in 1997 I think it stood out to me as the best looking aircraft I had ever seen and even still, so I am going to save for the 1/32 Trumpeter kit.

Now that's how a Flanker should look!   Fantastic work... those Sorbitsa pods really do look better than the tip launch rails.

In the background is the 1/48 Academy Su-35/37 Super Flanker, it's a guy who has been making models for the shop since I was a boy, he used the SOL conversion set, its a superb looking model.

Don't be nervous, be awesome.   Maybe shoot some practice pieces before attacking that MiG?

I'm curious to see how the Grach turns out myself...  I've thinned these enamels with lacquer thinner to see if they adhere to the plastic a little better and so far it has worked wonderfully.   The paints are drying out much faster than with the regular enamel thinner and the finish seems to be harder and more durable.

All I need now is to sit down and make some masks and begin painting that upper surface...

Very nice Dre! I'm very curious to see what the finished product is going to look like on that Frogfoot with all that pre-shading!

I've not yet broken out the airbrush to start on the MiG-21 yet...I'm a bit nervous. I haven't airbrushed anything in about a year, since leaving for basic training. I hope its just like riding a bike!

I don't think that it is all that large for the scale.  Here's an older photo.. perspective might lead one to think that it is similar in size to the Su-27, but it's smaller all around.

By the way Dre that Frogfoot looks fantastic, is it a large kit?

Thanks, it's getting there.   I need to wet-sand the green panel a little once it cures to lessen the brush marks.   I couldn't get a clean mask there so I hand painted it...

Dittos on the pre-shading Vance; it looks so cool that way, almost a shame to cover it!

Thanks, I've gotten the underside blue on and then oversprayed areas with that mixed with Gloss Gull Grey to add a warm, faded effect.  Once washed, this should look the right kind of ugly.
