Nice camo work Brandon. I know how that goes. I work midnights so on the night before I go to work, to aclimate my body, I stay up all night. I can get in 6 hours straight modeling time in sometimes. Just me, Net Flix, and the bench....good times...
Looks like your in the homestretch.....

Simply outstanding Brandon. Your mottling and splinter work are extremely well done. Beautiful work my friend.

Really a super good job, Brandon, the paint work is just spot on perfect. This will be a beauty when finished, I'm gaining lot's of valuable info and ideas from your build, I'm anxious to put it to use when my current project is ready for paint. Thanks for all of the posts, very helpful to me.

Quick update for today.
I went ahead and got the props sorted out. Since I am using an Eagle products spinner made for the Hase kit on a Zvezda model the prop blades would have needed significant mods to make them work. Doable for sure but more work than I wanted to do.
This shot shows the difference in the kit prop, which won't work with the Eagle spinner and the resin prop I ordered and the blades for it fit fantastic. Simple luck there for sure. Another nice thing about the resin props is that they are thinner and more realistic in scale thickness.
I also finished up the touch ups that were needed and installed the radiators and flaps in the full open position. Right now the bird is drying from a clear coat. I will begin decals very soon.
Thanks for looking.
BK

Nice upgrade to that prop. Had to do something similar on the 1/48 Hasegawa G-10 I built about 9 years ago. The OOB spinner was terribly huge.

The decals are done and setting. I will get the gloss coat down tomorrow and then a light pen wash to highlight some of the subtle details. I am not going to weather this one up much, I think it's just too nice of a build to make it dirty. The decals really make this build pop. Thanks for looking.
I forgot to mention some interesting facts about this pilot. He claimed his first victory in August 1941 and had 45 by January of 1942 and 172 by September 1942. He claimed 212 victories in all and was the FIRST pilot EVER to reach over 200 victories. He was made a flight trainer at this point and only returned to combat in November 1943 where he claimed the remaining kills, but was injured badly and never made a kill after that. It is easy to argue that had he not been made a trainer he quiet possibly could have had more victories than Erich Hartmann.
Very awesome application of the decals. I wish one day to be able to build like you. I'm excited to see the final product.

That is absolutely stunning Brandon. Those decals look awesome over your great paint job.
Looking great. The resin props do make a huge difference. I liked the Zveda prop hub because it held a wash well, as opposed to the weak molded Haesgawa one. I'm always looking for those Eagle props. I must have missed it, who was the pilot?
Joe,
Can't believe I didn't give his name. Hermann Graf, quite a career he had.
The spinner is made by Eagle, but the prop kit I think was a CMK kit for the Hase kit, no spinner. It is actually made to be set without a spinner, it shows the workings behind the spinner and the end of the gun. Cool item. I had to cannibalize it though. Thanks for the comments.
It is CMK
BrandonK Can't believe I didn't give his name. Hermann Graf, quite a career he had. BK
Yes, he had quite the impressive career and sadly, after surrendering to the Americans, was turned over to the Soviets. He, like many non-Nazi Party Luftwaffe pilots, spent years in a Gulag.
The 109 is looking great Brandon.

Brandon: She' s lookin' superb buddy!!!
Joe(Lawdog): Hasegawa 109 F and G spinners forever suck! They just look oversized and slightly ballooned. lol. I will always opt for a replacement on those.
Very, very nice work BK. You have a great eye for color and the application of it is outstanding.
I'm finally retired. Now time I got, money I don't.
Looking great, Brandon.
You make me feel like a newb Brandon. Very, very excellent work!

Well fellas, I am just burned out on this kit. I really like it but I've worked on it too long. I'm done and don't want to do any more with this kit. I quickly rapped it up with some minor weathering and final assembly. I ran into an issue with the Nav lights. Turns out there are 2 sets of wing tips to use and I chose the ones the kit said to and it doesn't allow me to install clear lenses over them, the others would have. Too late now, so I did a quick paint up for them and they look okay. It'll have to do. Enjoy the pics, I'm off to start my Star Wars GB X-Wing kit.
Hey that's not bad BrandonK. I like all the extra work you put in. I just can't leave a plane alone these days. Soon as I acquire a new skill-set, there's no turning back. My build times are twice as long now. Comes with the territory I guess. =] You're painting and weathering came out quite nice. Patience pays off.
Looking forward to your British Hellcat. =]

Nice Brandon, you seemed to handle all those fiddly bits just fine.
Very nice build....don't you just love German WWII aircraft because of the variety of different camo colors and styles, it makes for a more interesting and appealing build.
Great work!

Really nice build there BK, that yellow nose looks brilliant, great to see it on an F.
Thanks everyone for the positive comments. This one was a lot of work and I am glad to have it completed. I appreciate everyone's comments it makes these long builds more enjoyable.
Hold on there compadre, we're not quite done piling on the accolades for your magnificent 109F. I am hugely impressed with the work you've done Brandon. Nicely executed detail, sharp clean paint job and fine weathering all make you worthy of a hardy "Well Done!" You really have done a remarkable job and I hope you feel rather proud of it. You should. Thank You very much for sharing your build with us.
I mirror what Joe said. Simply outstanding work and I am so glad you shared it with us.
Stunning work. So what do you think of the Zveda kit. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
