I hope I'm being realistic here. BTW, is this GB going to be based here in the aircraft section or will it move to the Group Build section?

We will be moving it to the Group Build forum on Saturday. I will get you down with a '67 Malco Gasser and  a 1/32 Tamiya Mustang.

Raven728, I got you down TBD.

Hey guys, I've been wanting to do a P-51 for years now, and 18 months is a timeframe I think I can  work with! Please put me down as a TBD. This would be a great subject for my first NMF, but no promises. Wink Great badges CodyJ!

Jelliott523 - I have a set of the Bee decals in 1/32 if you want them.  They were included in the Top Drawings book on the P-51.  I don't build 1/32 so you can have them if you want them.  PM me your address and I will send them out.

yeah, you'd have to dismantle 3 kits to make one. Challenge for sure.

Oh, I see.  I've never seen the inside of that kit. Your idea may be worth exploring next year,  dependant on time and money of course.

I'm waiting for someone to sing up with the P-82. That would be cool.

If one could wait, it could be built in conjunction with Bish's "1946" what if build next January

Ah,  you are referring to the double Mustang. Monogram makes one, AND, it's a turkey. I got one with a 50% off coupon at Michaels and it's a miserable kit. VERY poorly done. I binned it pretty quick.

What would be an ambitious build would be to buy two decent Tamiya, Academy or whatever 'good' model company Mustangs and then keep the centre wing assembly from the turkey Monogram kit and try to mod it to the good planes. This would be a cool attempt. May have to consider that someday. That centre wing assembly was actually quite well done with the .50 cal gun bay with removable panel. Oh, man, that was a crappy kit otherwise!!! Angry

I am getting exited about this one, it's been months since I built a P-51  :-)

I am leaning towards my 1/48 Tam F-51 ...maybe in SAAF Korea scheeme

I am in for this. Not sure which kit will come out of the stash, but it will be  P-51 in 1/72! The start time gives me plenty of time to finish other stuff before this starts. Thanks

Hmm...this GB is pretty tempting.  I love building Tamiya's 1/48 -D kit and I have a few in the stash.  Maybe (maybe) if I can get all the other projects cleared off my bench, I'll jump in with one.

Anyway, for those of you that will be starting soon, I thought you'd be interested in this site:

I'm going to have to steer him toward Cody. He (Cody) loves doing them, plus he's a genius at it.

Superb. I'll keep this one in mind. I've been also wanting to do a Chinook, so, that's an option as well.

Rob S.
Has a thread been started, didn't see one. Wanna add to my favourites.

LOL, no buddy not yet. The patch is just a "place holder" I will put out a reminder thread in April.
The official GB will start on June 15 and run a year. June 15 2015 is the 99th anniversary of the first flight of Boeing's first airplane, the Model 1, and will obsessively end on the 100th anniversary.
I have a rough sketch of the interested parties, and there are several, so I will add you to it.

Here is the other patch we (Cody and I) will be offering.

Steve...BOEING Build?? You, Sir, are a 'purveyor of a drug', and, that drug is GBs...AND, you, Sir, are doing nothing to help with my addiction!! Stick out tongueDevilGeekedCrying (any any other emotes you see fit, LOL) SO, of course, I'm in for a Boeing build...I've been wanting to do a B-17 for years...now, I have an excuse. Let me stew on this one, but, plz put me in for a TBD (thank goodness it's in June).

Does the A-36 count? Its not named "mustang" but technically it is one with dive flaps?

Hey Steve, I'm wondering the same thing. I have an old A-36 and a P-51A. I've only built P-51Ds and had thought about jumping in sometime this summer or fall with one or the other.

If it isn't too late I'd like to jump in with a Tamiya 1/48 P-51B "Miss Dallas" or "Ill Wind".

I'd like to join too.  Tamiya 1/48 P-51D Ridge RunnerIII.

Btw, I have a set of the Bee decals.  I'll have to look in the stash to see who makes them.

Opened the box and get instruction sheet for a "K" with funky invasion stripes and decal placement for one US and two RAF birds,  Got the correct decals though.  Hope they still have the sheet, but would be pretty close if not. Emailed them waiting to hear back.

5high-find my test pics thread,  the guys helped me a bunch.  Got to have an off site host like Photobucket or equivalent.
