Completed Monogram 1:48 O-S2U Kingfisher High Tech PE Included OOB
Posted by Toshi on Friday, January 22, 2016 4:28 PM

The heading (Title) speaks for itself as the PE was included with this kit.  WOW!  I was shocked hence my immediate purchase for the Kingfisher.  Since I was 8 years old I always wanted to build this model.  I felt it was a bit intimidating back then as I've never built a seaplane.  Below will be my step by step build of the O-S2U.

As for my bf 109?  I'm still waiting for my canopy mask, if it doesn't arrive by next week, I'll need to contact the seller via eBay.  Thank you forum members for your support and read and replies.  I so look forward to these each and everyday!

Toshi

This is really a treat, it has very nice detail.  I've never assembled PE in 1:48.  It seems to look difficult.

Remember these?  LOL!

Loose parts.

This is an interesting subject, Toshi, and even more intriguing with the included PE. I'll be looking forward to seeing this one progress. Smile

I had been talking to a friend about the old kit, and trying to find one.  Now I have to get one of the new ones!  Always liked that kit, it was one of my favorites back when I built it in late 60s or early 70s.

There's a bunch of these and the old ones on eBay for $20.00 plus dollars.  Not too bad of a price for these classic kits in it's original condition. Check them out when you can.

Another kit I'd like to make is the old Monogram Devestator kit.

"slowly" ??? You gotta be kidding! In addition to being a fine model builder you must be in the running for the quickest.

Your work is always a pleasure to view and I like your choice of kits.

BrandonK,

I finaly got my 1/48 OS2U cockpit set from Lone Star after 6 weeks and i am very disapointed in it.  This was the second time I ordered it as the 1st set "got lost in the mail" and my money was refunded ( less shipping ).  My set is just terribly cast and the front side walls don't fit at all.  It looks like they are 1/32 scale instead of the 1/48 I ordered.  Mike West said that he's been having family health issues so the delay in shipping is understandable ,but there's no excuse for poor workmanship in my book. The trouble is, Lone Star is the only source for the Kingfisher cockpit set. I did find a Cutting Edge one on Ebay but the idiot wants $95 for it since the Cutting Edge company is no longer in business.

I put my Kingfisher on the shelf of doom because there's so much glass to this kit, the cockpit/back seater area is the main focal point of the model and I wanted to make sure that area looked real good. I think I'll wait for the 1/32 scale kit to come out that I've been hearing about.

I'm finally retired. Now time I got, money I don't.

Hi Toshi !

Although you may feel as if this is a big project , it isn't . I don't usually build planes , I use them as a relaxer between ship work . This one's a jewel and if you take your time the end result will be rewarding .

I have All the Monogram originals built and these just take it up a few notches .Hey , we have faith in you !  Tanker - Builder
