Toshi, the paint is looking good. I'm likin' what I'm seein'!

It was my daughter and Mrs. Toshi of which whom pointed out that the base coat was way too dark.   I would need to go through a very dark dark brown in order to highlight the Bronco's camoflauge.  The three of us finally settled on the color that would best be highlighted on the Bronco.  Thank you sir for the read and reply!

To my fellow forum members,

Every Tuesday, I'm at Hobby Lobby at exactly 10:10am.  That's because the therapy that I need is right next door To Hobby Lobby.  At one point, I used to live there, once I could care for myself, MENTIS released me.  Tomorrow will be a must to go to Hobby lobby.  I ran out of paint!

Last night I decided that Earth Brown would be a great base coat, unfortunately I was wrong.  It was way too dark.  So as you can see the difference in that of the base coat, I have included a photo of my mistake.  The only way to correct this was to start all over again and repaint the Bronco with a light brown.

I currently really like what I see.  I've already started the camouflage process on one side of the Bronco.  Tomorrow I can get a few more bottles of brown needed so that I can complete this project.  Thank you forum members for your patience and understanding.

I stayed up a little later than my normal sleep time.  I was so excited to see how the first coate of paint would look like on this build.  So far, I think it went very well.  Besides the paint job, assembling the wings to the cockpit was a difficult procedure and it required the help of Mrs. Toshi.  I think fellow forum members that would build this kit would have less issues as I, if for not of my disabilities.

At this juncture, I'll be spraying the camoflauge on by free hand.  After that it's all about buttoning up the bronco and adding on all the munitions afforded by this Kitty Hawk kit.  They're a wide range and substantial amount of bombs, rockets, and such.  Please view the following photos for anymore progress.  Thank you all for visiting this thread.

Toshi, great job so far! Nice, clean build. After seeing the photo-etch wing fences (four on each wing), I had to grab my Bronco model and take a look at the instructions, as I had never seen those on a Bronco before. Sure enough, they're in the instructions, mounted sideways. Seems to me that placement would be 90 degrees off (I would think that they would be mounted pointing straight into the wind). Looking on the internet, I could only find two pictures of these wing fences, but they were only on the right wing - none on the other wing! And, it looks like they're mounted in the same direction as your's are on your model, but the angle that the pictures were taken makes it hard to to tell. So, now I'm really confused as to what they're for. I can't find any information about them at all.

Anyways, Toshi, you're doing great on the Bronco. Looking forward to seeing more pictures!

Gary Mason

I know!  It's driving me crazy as well.  I had no idea what these little triangular things were.  Mrs. Toshi had to look them up for me.  I did the best I could in assembling these pieces.  Anymore information would need to come from a fellow forum member.

Thank you Devil Dawg for your update and heads up, I really appreciate it.  If you find out what the positions of these are, please let me know.  Thank you for the read and reply.

To my fellow forum members,

On this day, I'm very relaxed and enjoying life.  Why is this any different from any other day?  On Friday, Mrs. Toshi had severe chest pains and had to go to the emergency room.  Although the doctors found nothing, for safeties sake, they kept her in the hospital for evaluation.

They released her within 24 hrs., I was elated.  All kinds of scenarios ran through my mind with her initial pain.  Thank the lord that all the information after an evaluation was negative.  She's home now and is relaxing in the living room watching her favorite shows via Netflix.  I've been working on the Bronco all day, it's a very difficult build but I am happy that I overcame the obstacles.

Things of these nature tend to pop-up when you're least expecting so.  This just re-confirms my ideals in that life is too short, with that in mind, you try to embrace each and everyday.  This goes back to what I've learned here on FSM Forum; "Just have fun."

Below is the Bronco ready for it's first coate.  Thank you in advance for your read and replies.

To my fellow forum members,

While building the engine, I found that there is a part or two that are missed numbered.  Just watch carefully on what you do.  I built one engine at a time hence I was able to make the corrections needed on the second engine.  Mind you, the parts are so small and will be covered by the cowling.

As you can see, the masking of the canopy and placement worked out really well and I'm very happy with the outcome.  Besides these small discrepancie, I think this is a really well designed kit.  It is a very well detailed model and once built, it will definitely be a item that you'd be proud to display.

If I may add, this is a challenging kit with not only the PE but some styrene parts that are as small as PE.  Due to the attention to detail, you'll be happy with the outcome.

Toshi,

Great job on the engines! You oughta put a drop or two of RC fuel in them and see if they crank up!! Propeller

I like your progress on this build. It would take me a couple of months to get to the point that you're at now. Looking very much forward to seeing the finished product, my friend!

LOL!  LOL!  LOL!  You made my day today with a great laugh.  RC fuel!  Thank you sir, I will be putting down the Broncos first coate this evening.  Thank you Devil Dawg for following my builds and the read and replies.

Looking great as always Toshi! I am looking forward to the paint job you apply. It's great to see how well you have progressed since you started.

Thank you Hunter, as I'm looking forward to your next build as well!  As I mentioned above, there are three more kits waiting to be assembled and I am most excited for all three.  The Corasair as that came from my favorite TV show "Baa Baa Blacksheep", Skyhawk for it was one of the three jets I built during my youth, and finally the Tamiya Landcaster.

I think I'll build the Lancaster last.  It seems the most complex as well as detailed.  Hunter, thank you so much for following my builds.  You don't know how much it means to me!

Toshi

Toshi -

I will definitely be there when you assemble those three. I thank you friend for posting such well detailed and outlined builds. I have really enjoyed watching each of your builds. The Corsair is one of my favorite planes also. Take care of yourself and will be here until she is finished.

Thank you sir, you're very kind to me.  It's always a pleasure to post my WIP on FSM Forum.

Here are two photos just to keep you up to date. So far, there no issues and or concerns.  Everything is fitting just perfectly.  While I'm building the Bronco, I can't help but to look at my next three projects.  They are as follows, Revell 1:32 Baa Baa Blacksheep Corsair, Monogram 1:48 High Tech Skyhawk, and a really nice kit from Tamiya.  A 1:48 Avro Lancaster BI/BIII.

I'm excited to build all three at once, but I know I'll just be overwhelmed and stressed out and that's not what this hobby is for.  So I'll take my time and build this really cool looking Bronco, and think about which one I'll build next.  I almost forgot, I still have to finish the Me 410.  That will be completed when I receive the canopy from Revell.  Thank you in advance for the read and reply.

I like it so far.  The OV Bronco sure is a unique plane!

Thank you sir.  Mrs. Toshi picked this one out.  She took to the unique twin nacelle as well as the cockpit area.  It's definately not a kit you're used to seeing on the market today.

I remember the old Revell Bronco!  Does anyone remember that kit?  I sure do, I never got around to it as a kid, due to the fact that I was so into WWII aircrafts.  Thank you for the read and reply.

Looking really good, Toshi. I read an article the other day that stated the Marines were using these again to attack ISIS in Syria. They said the plane was perfect for the role. Your doing a great job again.

BK

Thanks BrandonK!  Wow, I didn't know that, you would think that an aircraft designed during the Vietnam war would still see combat time.  This design must be at least 40 years old?  As long as it's "Doing it's job" I'm amazed that the Bronco still has a role to play.  Thank you for the read and reply!

Here is an update for today.  For some reason, I'm having a hard time trying fit in pieces.  It's as if they don't belong there and not much lines up.  I don't know what I'm doing wrong but every step I take, some form of cutting or moving of items are needed for this build.

Besides these issues, I feel that the build is coming along and taking shape.  I just hope there will be less issues with this build.

Coming along really well, Toshi.

You know, Ive always wanted to build the OV-10 (and in fact Ive got a kit or two in the stash) but for some reason never built a single one in more than 3 decades of model building. Another item on the "One of these days" list.

Thank you sir.  What brand of Bronco is it?  I know Revell made one sometime ago.

Nicely done on the office suite.  That will look good under that magnifying glass canopy.

Scheduled for upper 60's today and low 80's the rest of the week.........itching to get out and doing.

Thank you sir.  Yes, the canopy glass can be used in a head visor at x's 10.  LOL!

We barely made 35 today.  We won't see any temps like you will for awhile.
