Toshi, I've used Blu-tac a little but not much. I tend to use Silly Putty for more or less the same thing. It seems less sticky and it's much cheaper if you're going to use a large amount of it. So far I've only used it on tanks but it should work the same on aircraft.  

Yes, it's the same stuff that comes in an egg that's sold to kids: On the right in the photo: 

I just pull off pieces and attach it to the model where I want it masked. It's low tack and seems to leave no residue behind.

Which Squadron were you with? My dad was a Master Seargeant in the 71st when he retired in 93 as Col. Meyer's(before Meyer became CJCOS) crew chief.

 

I made it to Langley in 99. I started with 1st OSS and then went to the 1st AMXS

Hey, Toshi -

Well, let's see. No fit issues, no flash, no putty, little sanding, no paint lifting by tape. How is there any fun in a build like that? Jeepers, if I can't enjoy many hours correcting kit problems, I don't feel like I'm getting my moneys worth.

You should ask for a refund.

Really nice job, the finish looks great and the camo came out just fine. Your freehanding is impressive, I'm so shaky I feel lucky if just a little of the paint gets on the model.

The free hand was planB, planA was to use blue tac but I screwed that up!  LOL!  Once I determined that free hand AB would be the program that day, my hands were not shaking.  I waited for two days for my hands to stop shaking.  It's one of the medications that does this to me.

I normally just take half until I can calm down.  Sometimes, I feel like I need two shots of Jack Daniels (Single Barrel or Gentle Men's Jack) to chill out, but Mrs. Toshi refuses to let me drink and take medications at the same time.  Yes, I have a very good wife that's got my back!  Thanks for everything, I hope my build did you the honor XF-15DCC!
