Completed Tamiya 1/48 Dornier Do335A Phiel Arrow

Glad to see "T" is getting back to normal and feeling better.....5 days since the start according to the calender here.  Almost back to normal speed.  LOL

Very nice job, and you are starting to branch off the normal "follow the directions and paint it this way" page.  Nice to see.  Well done my friend.

I don't know why the German High Command and the guy with the bad temper decided to go with the boring scheme they went with instead of something like your version Toshi. It looks different and very good.

Here is my final concept of my Arrow build.  After I applied the splinter camoflauge and mottle, I sprayed the Phiel in Testors Spray Lacquer Gloss Clear Coat #1261, placed the decals, AB Testors CREATEFX Natural Stain Enamel, and added some exhaust stains to finalize the 335A.

As I compose myself, like I explained to PlasticJunkie, I had seen one unusual scheme similar to the Phiel concept.  I pulled the design concept from a scheme with a unusual mottled bottom.  Do you remember my build?  Due to my injury, I can't recall if it was a 190 or a 109.  This was photographed against a actual snow background and the aircraft was hung by a bamboo backscratcher on a fishing line.  LOL!

I do remember that part as it was crazy to shoot such a photo in the North East Ohio winter.  I recall it was ten degrees with a windchill factor below zero.  That is not hard to remember, LOL!  Mrs. Toshi called me totally insane yet supported my decision based on the outcome of my shoot.  My daughter whom is now a graduate of photography from Kent State University was very excited by my choice of backdrop yet worried about my sanity to do so!  LOL!

With this recall and based on a unique factual photograph, the Phiel you see came to fruition.  The only difference was the splintered camoflauge top.  Crazy yet fun to do.  I almost did a Phiel with an American marking.  This Arrow was obtained through operation Paper Clip.  I've seen several factual pics of this.  Very cool came into my mind!

Thank you so much for your support and confidence in this build.  It means so much to me.  I did my best to take this Phiel to another category.  I've seen a busted Me 109 with a top brown North Africa scheme with some type of unusual mottled bottom.  Not quite this extreme but something close.  This was so cool as that was the only one I could find.

Unique, and rare were the two words that came into my mind.  I also wanted to let a little artistic rendition run through it's course.  I'm so glad you like it!  Please forgive my memory, (Injury) but I did do a 109 or a 190 like the one mentioned above last year.  I photographed the aircraft against a actual North East Ohio winter backdrop, snow.

That looks very good and quite different than the boring standard Pfeil paint scheme.

Many forum members wanted to not only know what paint scheme I was to choose, they also wanted to know if I would be doing a post-war scheme.  What I chose was a partial split camoflauge with a half done night fighter type of Phiel.  I hope forum members enjoy this type of unusual paint scheme, I know I personally do.

I really enjoy the masking of the split camoflauge technique.  My favorite all time AB camoflauge is the Luftwaffe mottle type.  This build has both and it was really fun for me!  I still have much more to do so bare with me!
