Back when i was in high school i had a Tamiya lancaster hanging in my bedroom when one of my brothers went in my room swinging a stick and knocked my lancaster down saying it was my fault for hanging it from the ceiling in the first place.this was back in 1978

Oh my, you bring back fond memories!  In 1979, I went for the last time to Tokyo, Japan for my summer vacation. I remember going to my friends toy shop and seeing the myriad of model kits displayed.

That's too bad about your Tamiya Landcaster.  I just built one earlier this year, that was a great kit to put together!

Model Maniac

I had two B-52 1:72 hanging from the ceiling of my showroom for many years. A few months ago one went down mysteriously (nylon wiring intact) and broken into many pieces. I glued them together using the best adhesive (super glue) and hanged back to its place using the old nylon wire. Late last month I heard a loud noise of something breaking. The old B-52 went down again, this time it was appearant that the nylon wire failed and snapped. After painstakingly put all the parts back together I thought enough is enough. I don't hang it anymore but put it on top of the highest display case at the side of my house instead. Still fearing that some day a strong wind might bring it down another time. Still in the showroom I have another B-52, a KC-135 and an XB-70 all 1:72 scale hanging from the ceiling as there's no other place to keep them.

Wow!  Thank you so much for sharing your story.  For you to be so strong in re-building your B-52 twice is a monumental task.  You are the man! The other aircraft that you pointed out (B-51, KC-135, and a XB-70) must be some of your treasured artistic renditions.  Thank you so much for everything!

Wow,that's demoralizing, hurts the heart,I never hung aircraft for that reason, but more so because of the dust accumulation,on the open shelves they are dust magnets, but at least I don't have to take them down to clean. So how did you deal with dust on those masterpieces you have shown here?

First off, thank you for the support.  Second, these aircrafts definately collects dust.  Finally, I have to clean every models once a month by taking the models down one at a time and dusting them off with a giant make up brush.  It's the type that women use to put blush on their cheeks.  I continue to do so with all my other models.  Thanks for the read and reply!

Geez , ;

Whatta mid-air crash that was !  Knowing you , they will be rebuilt even better than before . Question, How or why did you put your faith in stick on hardware . The stickies are like Cyano-Acrylate glue .They don't really have any torsional strength .Please take the others down Before they come to a bitter end . Please ?     T.B.

Yes, I live and learned from this crazy experience.  I didn't even know they fell, it was Mrs. Toshi that heard the crash.

That's a sad sight to look at. Sorry it happened. All my models are in glass cases or safely stored in shoe boxes until my man cave is finished. You took it a lot better than I would have. I think I might have had a meltdown.

What helped me was that Mrs. Toshi said that she would re-purchase the destroyed models and that I can do better builds.  I almost had an out of body experience.  LOL!

Awwww man!!   Not the dreaded sticky hooks!!  I used those things once...................once. I felt like kicking myself in the butt ....or having someone else do it........... . It wasn't models but it was the same kind of results. Sorry for your misfortune with that Toshi. Oh well....we live and learn I guess.

Yes, those sticky hooks are now banned in my household.  LOL!  My son replaced the sticky hooks with screwed in hooks (Anchored).

If you find one expect the price to be in the hundreds . Just like the Miss Budweiser boat they seem to have disappeared !  T.B.          P.S. Toshi will recover I am sure , and surprise all of us .

I'm sorry for your loss, Toshi. However, I am confident you will build both these kits again, and build them better than before.

Mrs. Toshi said the same thing.  Thank you for the support!

Really funny comments Gang! Always a tragedy. Mom wiped out my F-4 Phantom hanging in my room with a ladder. The good news is that it looked so bad after the redo that I had to buy a cooler and new Academy F-4C with much better detail. Fate works in strange ways! Smile

Max

PS--at least mine wasn't a mid-air involving two aircraft.

LOL!  Fate does work in strange ways.  Mid air collisions are never good.  LOL!

BlackSheepTwoOneFour

I know the pain you feel Toshi. I had a kit I worked on for weeks fall to pieces due to my mom's clumsiness. I'll never forget that day for as long as I live. I wouldnt mind doing another one for old times sake. It was the Budweiser Wagon with the Clydesdale horses kit.

Wow!  I remember that classic kit.  Thanks for the visit.

You would have had to peel me off the ceiling. I love our positive attitude Tosh....very refreshing in today's world. Make sure you save the parts for spares.

Thanks lawdog114.  I try to be, that's all I can do.  Yes, the salvagble parts are now in my misc. parts container.
