I know the pain you feel Toshi. I had a kit I worked on for weeks fall to pieces due to my mom's clumsiness. I'll never forget that day for as long as I live. I wouldnt mind doing another one for old times sake. It was the Budweiser Wagon with the Clydesdale horses kit.

You would have had to peel me off the ceiling. I love our positive attitude Tosh....very refreshing in today's world. Make sure you save the parts for spares.

Toshi my friend, I just got on the site and read this news and I feel for you.  I used to hang my models from the ceiling but unfortunatly, I lived by railroad tracks. As the trains would come by, the vibration would work the nails loose and binga banga crash.  Then I moved away from the train tracks but got married and moved into a house with no room to hang models from the ceiling since our ceilings were so low (think Papa Smurf built all the houses around here).  No problem, except we ended up adopting cats.  Well, an old modeler once said to me that cats, kids, and dogs that throw tennis balls in the house just gives me the excuse to keep on building.  In this hobby, its not the having, but the building.  We all know you are itching to build a new Phantom.  Another bright side, now you can start a "spare parts" box.

Hope all else is well with you,

Scott

Luckily, my kids are all grown up, I have no dogs, and the three cats could care less of WWII aircraft.  The cats avoid my builds as if it was the Ebola virus.  LOL!

I want to build a F-4 Phantom but I've been really itching to build a Harrier! LOL!  Thanks for the visit.

Sad. Really sad to have to read about this. I'm sorry, my friend. But its an oportunity to build them even better the second time around, right?

I have full confidence that you will enjoy both builds even more the second time. Because you know where the problem areas are.  ;)

Thank you for your heart felt concern.  Yes!  I will build it better as you so correctly stated!

Ouch! Was that the Black Widow you recently completed?

Several years ago, my son called me at work and said I was not going to be happy when I got home.  At the time I had a collection of builds on shelves in my workshop. The shelves were on a wall that also has a door leading inside the house, which of course is opened and closed frequently.  And apparently I did not get the shelves mounted into the studs, so on this day one side of those shelves came loose. I arrived home to find a large mound of shattered plastic. None of the builds were recoverable. I collected all the debris and put that in my stash of old destroyed builds that will be available for salvage if and when I need it.

Now the really cool part. My wife told me I could get all these kits again. Some were out of production, but eBay was there for me. I have replaced each of those I lost that day. I don't believe I have built any yet but eventually I will get around to it.

Yes, that was a very expensive GWH 1/48 Blackwidow w/Intrerior PE.  I'm lucky like you, Mrs. Toshi is re-purchasing my F-4 and the P-61 for me to re-build those two kits.

Toshi, I've followed your builds.  With you creative mind and supurb skill, I doubt that there's much you couldn't accomplish with that pile of parts given a little time to think about it.  Yes, it would be a challenge though...

Thank you for the vote of confidence!

My deepest sympathies for your loss here. Crying You're abetter soul than I in your grace handling this. And as already said here, those kits you can not repair can be stripped of all usable parts for future projects.

Thank you sir!  I'll definately use the pieces as extra parts.

Ouch that really sucks! Sorry about that.

NEVER trust those sticky things. It's a matter of time before the adhesive fails and this happens. Only use secure screwed attachments that are strong and will not fail.

Thank you plasticjunkie.  I'll be changing the hooks.

Wilbur Wright

Toshi,

Beyond the "Hook" problem which should be easily remedied, I always hang my planes with the thinest steel wire available.  Then carefully hand paint the wire with flat black enamel.   I say this because if anyone uses fishing line, it can degrade after a number of years.   All of my large planes (i.e. Italeri 1/48th scale C130 etc)...are hung this way from screws going into joists.  They will never fall.

We've all droped a model or two. Chin up.

Thank you sir!  I will take heed.

That's too bad, Toshi. Sorry to hear.

You didn't specifically mention that you replaced all the rest of the sticky-tape type hooks with real fasteners. You did, or are in the process, right?

That was a rotten thing to have happen when you already were not feeling well, darn it.

Thank you sir.  My son and daughter will replace the hooks for me.

OH KRAP!!! That blows Toshi, so sorry to see that.

I think you're handling it better than I, I almost teared up looking at your broken models on the carpet there... Crying

Thank you Gamera.  What helped was Mrs. Toshi said she'll replace my broken builds.

Valkyrie

Toshi, it's heart breaking to see the parts scattered about on the floor.  I had something similar happen with a B-17.  One of our cats was "involved."  However, it became part of a battle damage repair diorama in it's "second life."  Good luck on what ever you decide to do with it.

Thank you Valkyrie, I'm glad you got to do a diorama with your B-17, my models are far beyond the display stage.
