Toshi, I've followed your builds.  With you creative mind and supurb skill, I doubt that there's much you couldn't accomplish with that pile of parts given a little time to think about it.  Yes, it would be a challenge though...

Thank you for the vote of confidence!

Ouch! Was that the Black Widow you recently completed?

Several years ago, my son called me at work and said I was not going to be happy when I got home.  At the time I had a collection of builds on shelves in my workshop. The shelves were on a wall that also has a door leading inside the house, which of course is opened and closed frequently.  And apparently I did not get the shelves mounted into the studs, so on this day one side of those shelves came loose. I arrived home to find a large mound of shattered plastic. None of the builds were recoverable. I collected all the debris and put that in my stash of old destroyed builds that will be available for salvage if and when I need it.

Now the really cool part. My wife told me I could get all these kits again. Some were out of production, but eBay was there for me. I have replaced each of those I lost that day. I don't believe I have built any yet but eventually I will get around to it.

Yes, that was a very expensive GWH 1/48 Blackwidow w/Intrerior PE.  I'm lucky like you, Mrs. Toshi is re-purchasing my F-4 and the P-61 for me to re-build those two kits.

Sad. Really sad to have to read about this. I'm sorry, my friend. But its an oportunity to build them even better the second time around, right?

I have full confidence that you will enjoy both builds even more the second time. Because you know where the problem areas are.  ;)

Toshi my friend, I just got on the site and read this news and I feel for you.  I used to hang my models from the ceiling but unfortunatly, I lived by railroad tracks. As the trains would come by, the vibration would work the nails loose and binga banga crash.  Then I moved away from the train tracks but got married and moved into a house with no room to hang models from the ceiling since our ceilings were so low (think Papa Smurf built all the houses around here).  No problem, except we ended up adopting cats.  Well, an old modeler once said to me that cats, kids, and dogs that throw tennis balls in the house just gives me the excuse to keep on building.  In this hobby, its not the having, but the building.  We all know you are itching to build a new Phantom.  Another bright side, now you can start a "spare parts" box.

Hope all else is well with you,

Scott

Luckily, my kids are all grown up, I have no dogs, and the three cats could care less of WWII aircraft.  The cats avoid my builds as if it was the Ebola virus.  LOL!

I want to build a F-4 Phantom but I've been really itching to build a Harrier! LOL!  Thanks for the visit.

You would have had to peel me off the ceiling. I love our positive attitude Tosh....very refreshing in today's world. Make sure you save the parts for spares.

I know the pain you feel Toshi. I had a kit I worked on for weeks fall to pieces due to my mom's clumsiness. I'll never forget that day for as long as I live. I wouldnt mind doing another one for old times sake. It was the Budweiser Wagon with the Clydesdale horses kit.

I'm sorry for your loss, Toshi. However, I am confident you will build both these kits again, and build them better than before!

Thanks lawdog114.  I try to be, that's all I can do.  Yes, the salvagble parts are now in my misc. parts container.

Really funny comments Gang! Always a tragedy. Mom wiped out my F-4 Phantom hanging in my room with a ladder. The good news is that it looked so bad after the redo that I had to buy a cooler and new Academy F-4C with much better detail. Fate works in strange ways! Smile

Max

PS--at least mine wasn't a mid-air involving two aircraft.

Awwww man!!   Not the dreaded sticky hooks!!  I used those things once...................once. I felt like kicking myself in the butt ....or having someone else do it........... . It wasn't models but it was the same kind of results. Sorry for your misfortune with that Toshi. Oh well....we live and learn I guess.

That's a sad sight to look at. Sorry it happened. All my models are in glass cases or safely stored in shoe boxes until my man cave is finished. You took it a lot better than I would have. I think I might have had a meltdown.

Geez , ;

Whatta mid-air crash that was !  Knowing you , they will be rebuilt even better than before . Question, How or why did you put your faith in stick on hardware . The stickies are like Cyano-Acrylate glue .They don't really have any torsional strength .Please take the others down Before they come to a bitter end . Please ?     T.B.

I still have my horsies .

Just don't have the wagon or beer kegs . I tried the coach but Nah . My sister thought it was a Princess plaything Before the Princesses were the rage . Totaled the wagon !

If you find one expect the price to be in the hundreds . Just like the Miss Budweiser boat they seem to have disappeared !  T.B.          P.S. Toshi will recover I am sure , and surprise all of us .

Yes, those sticky hooks are now banned in my household.  LOL!  My son replaced the sticky hooks with screwed in hooks (Anchored).

What helped me was that Mrs. Toshi said that she would re-purchase the destroyed models and that I can do better builds.  I almost had an out of body experience.  LOL!
