Beautiful.

Your modeling skills development remind me of Gokou of Dragon Ball Z. Supersaiyan!

LOL!  I've never watched Dragon Ball Z.  My son was and still is a huge fanatic of Dragon Ball Z.  I remember some characters by the name of Gohan and Master Roshi!  LOL!  Thank you allan, you've brought back fond memories of my son and I.

I used to buy him all kinds of Dragon Ball Z toys for him.  At times I probably spoiled him silly but he was a really good boy until he found out what the opposite sex was about!  LOL!  That's ok, we all went through growing pains.  Thank you for the walk in the past and for visiting my threads.  This means very much to me as I so enjoy our conversations.  Supersaiyan!

Hey Toshi!

Great job on the Me 262!  You don't give yourself enough credit: that's a very nice job you did with the kit and you should be proud.  Hope that you and Mrs. Toshi are well on the way on the road to recovery!!

Thank you Tal Afar Dave, you're kind words are highly appreciated.  I am most humbled.  I feel that this build came out as a great teaching tool for me in AB control and I'm happy with the outcome.

I would still want to excel my AB skills exponentially but you know as well as I, that comes with practice and practice I shall continue.  I want to thank you for your belief in my skills as well as your support my friend.  Also thank you for visiting and replying to this WIP, it makes me very happy to reply back and have a conversation with you sir!

As for Mrs. Toshi and I, we are both doing much better and thank you for your concern and inquiries.

Greg

I just love that paint job, Toshi. Something about the way the off-white of the nose fades away towards the rear as the mottling takes over.

I'm really very impressed with your mottling job here.

You've made me want to try one of these and try to duplicate your mottling. It's just a neat looking little jet that looking at the box I'd never take a second look at. But built up........   hmmmmm.

Thank you so very much Greg, you're too kind.  I'm really the wrong person to talk about this due to my minimal experience but this is what was done.  The fade was actually done by spraying Testors COLORFX Natural Stain Enamel from a distance of one and a half to two feet at 30 PSI with a NEO by Iwata.  Then I get closer about a few inches to get the fade darker by letting up on the trigger to slow the spray speed down.

The mottling was done first by spraying dark green dots at 15 PSI then going over the dots with a worm type pattern in light gray to give it a small but light contrast.  There are much better pro FSM Forum members that have better information and techniques than what I've done, maybe they could chime in on this thread.  Anyone is free to do so, I could learn a ton!

It is a very neat looking jet, I must agree.  I too didn't take it seriously until I saw the Trumpeter 1/32 Visible 262 kit.  Then when I built it, it was so cool looking.  That's when I became a 262 fan!  Thank you so much for your support and interest in my builds, I so greatly appreciate it.  If you have any more questions in this regards and or anything else, I'll be more than happy to share my limited experience with you my friend!

Great build Toshi, really nicely finished.

And best wishes to the Mrs as well. Go and build her a 72nd kit, that will cheer her up Wink

Thank you sir!  I will let Mrs. Toshi know.  What's funny is that the 1/72 are her favorite airplanes to see me build them.  She calls them Kaumana planes.  That's Hawaiian for strength/strong.  It's also the nick name of our Grandson.

What a difference scale makes!  Great camo schemes on them.  What's next?

Yes, the scales are amazing when I got a perspective on these two builds.  Thank you for the comment on the camoflauge schemes.  A Testors Classic 1/72 F4U-1 Corsair.  Nothing really crazy except the way I received it.  You can read about that on the WIP.  Thanks for your support and visit, I greatly appreciate it.

Gorgeous Toshi. You nailed that mottling. I'm sorry to hear about your wife's illness and I'm glad she's better.

Thank you lawdog114.  I had googled and seen that paint scheme only once.  I thought how interesting it was.  Yes, Mrs. Toshi is much better. Thank you, you're very kind.  Also thank you for the visit.

Well Shuckey Darn, friend Toshi -

I extend my sympathy and very best wishes for FULL and quick recoveries, from the round of illness you and Mrs.Toshi have recently experienced. I'm so glad to read that your kids have stepped up, to care so well for you both. That says you instilled a strong sense of family and responsibility, while you were raising them. Good job.

Stay well, take the best care of yourselves. Remember, regular hours and quality sleep/rest go a long way toward recovery and overall wellness.

Gonna do a shark mouth 262????? I think it would look sharp.

Patrick

You're so kind and your words are heartfelt.  Thank you my friend, we are all doing fine now.  I have not planned a shark's mouth for this 262 build.  Maybe on the next Luftwaffe aircraft.  Thank you sir for visiting my threads, I so greatly appreciate it!

Toshi, my friend,

I am so sorry to hear of yours and the Mrs. ailments.

My prayers are with you and your house and it's so good and comforting to know that your kids are stepping up to lend a hand.

I had to take my better half to the ER last week at 1:30 am for heart attack symptoms but they found nothing wrong, thank God ,and by the time a doctor had seen her, she was feeling much better.  I think God healed her on the 20 minute trip to the ER. Angel

I don't always respond to your posts but I watch and thourgholy enjoy each and every one of them, and i am always amazed at your escalating modeling skils and the speed at which you employ them. Stay healthy my friend, we at FSM count on you. Smile

Jay Jay, Thank you so much for your tenderness and heartfelt words.  I'm sorry to hear about Mrs. Jay Jay, God did heal her for the twenty minute drive.  The Miura's will pray for your family.

This build is interesting, it's not only the unique paint schem but it's taken the longest!  LOL!  My next build is one to keep an eye on.  It's a fantastic miracle that I even received this build but I get to make this my next project.  I thank you so much for following my builds, you're a good friend!

Toshi,

My two kids are still in grade school and high school but I feel you. Its tiring, but absolutely rewarding in itself.

Ive just wrapped up a 1/72 MB-339. Ill post it here one of these days.

Nice work on the pilot, by the way.

Yes, I completely agree.  The rewards far outweigh the difficult and complex at times the raising of family "Ohana".  I'd love to see your MB-339 build, this is so exciting.  Thank you so much Allan for your belief and support in me!

We all must persevere when life throws us a nasty curve; there simply is no other way. Chin up Toshi and remember you both have a lot of good people looking out for you including those here.

The figure looks very good, and yes, the grey would work better for scale than silver. Keep up the good work.

May the strings (of string theory) vibrate well for Mrs. Toshi and yourself. You two seem to be made of the kind of stuff from which more people ought to be made.

Best to you both and keep modeling!

No need for apologies. This is a hobby to be done in our spare time and to me the only true modeling deadlines are the comission builds and even those can wait when more important things happen. I hope Mrs Toshi is doing better.

It so happened just yesterday afternoon I get a call that my wife was in the hospital. I finally was able to contact her on the phone and told me she was having terrible abdominal pains to the point she passed out at work and had to be transported by Fire Rescue. I promptly made it to the hospital to be with her. After about 4 hours and a bunch of testing, bloodwork and scans, the doctor had no clue as to why she had such a severe esophagus spasm.

I'm no doctor but suspect the early development of an ulcer. She has a very stressful job and she has gone thru a lot first with the death of my parents, later her dad and now dealing with her mom's Alzheimer's. We have been married for over 30 years and I too have spent half of my life time with her and freaked out when I got the call.

Things are better, her pain is gone and she made an appointment with a specialist for some GI work.

Now back to modeling....The figure looks good but I offer you a couple of suggestions. First make up a wash with umber or a reddish brown paint and do a pin wash of the facial folds. This will produce shadows on the face and ears. Then do a black pin wash on the uniform to get the clothing folds. Lastly, once everything is dry, go back with a sligthly lighter uniform color (add a drop or two of white to the base coat) and lightly drybrush the high spots on the clothing and cap. This will create more tonal variance and will break up the darker color.

Thank you PlasticJunkie!  When things happen in life, sometimes it's a snowball effect good and bad.  Now, only the good will be a part of your beautiful family.  Mrs. Toshi is doing fine and very well, she needs something called an epipen.

Please except my heart warming best of wishes to you and your family.  I hope Mrs. PlasticJunkie is doing fine and well?  Hope fully the GI Doctor can cure Mrs. PlasticJunkie.  With a strong husband like you, your family will just continue to move forward!

These modeling tips are so greatly appreciated it, I'll do my best to apply myself to your directions in figure painting.  Your tips are invaluable just like the wonderful FSM family. Thank you for the read and reply!

Hodakamax

Toshi, Thanks for your post. We sometimes forget we are talking to "real people" on the Forum. I'm constantly trying to visualize contacts on the Forum and your post explains to me more about you and your life. I always enjoy reading your adventures, projects and humor. It's not just about models. Hang in there and keep up the fun and good work.

As for me, I'm about to turn 74 and have only been on the Forum for a few months. I'm not only learning more about modeling but meeting fun new people. All good!

Best wishes,

Max

PS--The little guy looks great! The last one I did looked too silly to post.  Smile

I so feel the same about getting to know fellow FSM Forum members and something beyond their models.  Oddly, at least for myself, it helps me to get to know the model and how/why it was built in such fashion.

Your still a young 74, and if a may add, your contribution here and elsewhere are highly appreciated it.  Thank you so much for your support, it means a lot to me.

Greg

Toshi,

Your observations are touching, you comments about family heartwarming, and mostly I'm glad you're back at it and feeling better.

How is Mrs Toshi doing?

And your figure looks good to me. Some day maybe I will try my first figure as an adult, I can post a pic and we can all have a good laugh together.

Thank you Greg, your heart warming words have healed my soul.  Mrs. Toshi is doing just find.  She now needs something called an epipen.  Thank you for your comment and support in my figure painting.

I'll still continue to paint a figure as best as I can to try and make improvements on this new endevour I'm trying.  Thank you so much for your support, it means a great deal to me!
