Looking good Toshi!  I started that kit many moons ago, I should probably finish it someday.

Bish, Hasesgawa does the Avenger in 1/72 as well. It's been out for ages, so finding one shouldn't be too hard.

Jim Barton

Engine_95 won't need to buy a huge number of tools to start with, just basics like hobby knives, sanding sticks and small files, paintbrushes, other basic items. Add other more specialized tools as you need them. That's how my tool kit developed--one saw, one punch set, one whatever found its place on the workbench over time.

Toshi, looking forward to more pictures, as usual!

I'll do my best in providing more photos as I continue the project.  Thank you for the visit!

It's a fun little kit.  I never used to build 1/72 kits until now.  I mostly did 1/48 and my favorite 1/32 kits.   just love how these Academy kits are put together. Thank you for the kind words and support!

Hey Toshi, still amazes me what you guys can do with 1/72 kits!  The masking for the canopy looked intense!  Great work my friend!

Nice progress so far. My mom lives about 1.5 miles from where Avengers were built, and the airport I learned to fly at was the airport was the same used to deliver them to the Navy, so the Avenger is special to me. I also volunteered to help restore one when I had a free day. I have the same kit, looking forward to seeing yours done.

Ye, i have seen those, one of the guys brought the British version, Tarpon i think, into the club night this week. Its not on thge hannants site but i will have a look for it. But like Toshi, i don't mind Academy and find there detail rather nice, so i will see what the cost is between the two.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Here is the primer point.  I used Tamiya Lacquer Gray Primer.  I had some problems with the primer as I had thinned it too much.  It was somewhat disconcerting but I was able to fix after a while. Live and learn as they say!

Thank's iampiper13.  I got into some issues with the primer.  I was able to fix the issue by adjusting the thinner primer ratios.

This is a photo with the cowling and propeller on.  According to stikpusher's information, these Avengers with the yellow cowling's were to take part in the Tokyo raids.

WOW!  7474, that is so cool!  Plus you got to restore one as well. That is just amazing.  When you build your Avenger, you'll know every detail of where everything goes and how it's supposed to be done!  Again, that is so cool!  I can't wait to see your build as a WIP!  Thank you so much for your support, it's greatly appreciated!

Paint job looks great! I noticed that your 1/72 has more of a bent wing then the 1/48 I did.

Thank you so much sir, your kind words humble me.  I had to do it twice.  The first time looked like a five year old did it!  LOL!  The second time worked out really fine.  Thanks for stopping bye.

Here is the completed TBF Avenger build.  It was a nice kit.  The only problem I had was the masking of the canopy but I was able to get it done after a second try.  Other than this issue of which was my fault, everything turned out just fine!
