M. Brindos

I finished the C channels and now the canopy is fully functional.

Now, to finish that left side cockpit wall.  :)

Mike, before you finishs your cockpit, check your references. I think that you will see that those bars along the sides of the open cockpit are atually part of the canopy. If your canopy is slid back/open, the bottom/bars goes with it!

Revell 1/96 USS Constitution - rigging

Kinetic 1/48 YF-104A 5-2957

Trumpeter 1/350 USS Hornet CV-8

Revell 1/48 B-1B Lancer Prep & Reasearch

Thanks, Bob! I did the same thing with my Spitfire. I had to rebuild the entire frame for that one though. This one has been easy in comparison.

No need to rebuild canopy frames on this one. The fit is mostly good still.

That is really awesome Mike! The scratch-built detail looks really great. But the functional canopy? That's just too cool.

I thought I was ambitious with my build, but scratching out the office, well now, that's something else all together. Very nice work on the pit. I'm hoping to find the ambition to get back on mine as it is languishing on the shelf of doom at the moment. I'll be watching.

1/48 Monogram/Revell (Monovell) P-40B - Completed pg. 6
Posted by M. Brindos on Monday, February 6, 2017 1:50 PM

Well this will be my second Monogram/Revell P-40B I've done on this Forum. The first time was for my son and I made it straight OOB. It turned out okay.

This time I'm having some fun with it. What I've got done so far is the right side pit wall and the floor/seat/IP area. I haven't started on the left side wall yet.

This build is for the "Where are you from?" Group Build on Genessis. So far I'm having a blast with all of this scratch building. Although its not entirely accurate, I have mixed up a few ideas from different reference pictures and a little imagination.

So while I wait for the Mo jo to return on my P-36A, I'll be messing around with this classic.

Thanks for checking-in and have a great day!  :)
