Bossman

The A6 is Looking great Fermis - and thanks for the detail shot of the inside wing fold !

Chris

Thanks...and you're welcome. I did notice a difference between the Intruder and Prowler, regarding the wingfold. On the Prowler, the mechanism extends further down into the pylon...

...A-6A

So, make sure you have the proper ref pics!!!

Got the 14 painted up....not without the worst slew of words I have ever heard...let alone spoken. If it could possibly go wrong...it did. I managed to get through...it did seem that every time I tried to paint, it just screwed up something else....then screw up something else while I was fixing the first screw up. I'M DONE with it...airbrush is in the trash can...so no more painting until a new one arrives. That took about 10x longer than it should have, had things been working normally.

Anyway...

I need a drink.....or several.

I suppose so! It aint the first, and highly likely that it won't be the last! I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess. That was the second Harbor Freight a/b to give up the ghost on me. They do work really great, right up until they don't! I ordered another one. For 20 bucks, I know what I'm getting. I have a hard time spending upwards of $100 or more, and not really knowing what I'm getting. I'd be hatin life if I spent the money and end up displeased with what I get. For my 20 bucks, I'll get anywhere from 50 to 100 builds painted....I'm okay with that!

Decals are done, for A-6 and F-14.

The Fujimi decals were far less than good...brittle, WAY too much decal film, and very little "stick" to em. I got through though!

The F-14 decals are from Furball....decent.

The F-18s are still in the hanger...waiting for my new airbrush to show up.

Yup, 14 will be slicked back. 6 will be getting 24 MK82 snakeyes...will be fun cleaning up the pour stubs on those.Confused

The A-6 is gettin close. Just a bit of final details...and 24 bombs that need to be cleaned up (a LOT...they're a mess!), painted and put in place.

Gotta say the Gull Grey and White schemes were some of the best. The squadron colors were great

Well...my airbrush gave up the ghost on me, while I was painting the 14. I ordered a new one...and just worked on this pair. New a/b showed up yesterday...so the 18's are on deck.

Fermis,

Super nice work man.  The light weathering is really nice.  Not looking really dirty, but enough to give some color variation and accent the surfaces so they don't look uniform.

Thanks for the wing fold detail photos too - they will help a ton - although I will probably simplify things quite a bit as I'm dealing with styrene rod, sheet stock, and stretched sprue.

I gotta check out that Harbor freight A/B just to try a re-entry into the A/B world.  Never quite got the hang of it the first time,  but an A/B is indispensable in applying white.

Thanks Again,

Chris

A-6 will be wrapped up today.

I actually had just sat down to finish it up, this morning. I got a call from the boss at my airport, asking if I wanted a deer. Of course, I do!!!

Plane vs. deer....plane wins. True story!!!

Plane was coming in to land, deer ran out, plane came down on top of the deer. Only damage to the plane was a small blade antenna (VOR maybe?)...deer didn't fair so well...took that antenna to it's brain case.
