Here's the finals I've selected for the Tulsa Modelers Show this coming Saturday, April 8 2017 in Bixby, Oklahoma. Time to give it another shot. I've been fine tuning them all week in hopes of being slightly competitive, Hah. These participants are way too serious compared to me but it is fun to compete and see what's required in my attempt next year, LOL! All fun and lots of vendors with low prices, model talk everywhere!
Here's a quick photo shoot of the final four displays before they are all shot down in flames! LOL! I'll try to get some shots of the show for a mini-report.
Max
Oh those are pretty. Good luck with you're entries. I'll be watching for the result.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Nice! I especially like the B-25. I had an absolute blast building the Revell kit a while back. No idea why, lol.
My money is on the 262,but I'd back any one of them.

Great builds Max. Good luck at the show. Looking for 4 wins.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
They all look great, Max. I think you'll do very well for yourself. :)

Wow! Thanks Gang for your support! I was only reporting in! While fine tuning the entries I imagine myself as the judge and I start seeing all the things the judge will. I've repaired most of my silvery decals, thanks to the Gangs advice, and smoothed over some glaring flaws, all those things that make the perfect model. Everytime I begin a new project, it's goal is "the perfect model"which never happens but miniscule improvements are visible at the finish. Maybe it's like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow just over the next hill. Maybe there isn't a perfect model or at least it seems so. I do realize my age related growing limitations and other distractions of life preventing the perfect model but I do slightly improve with each try and what would life be without challenges?
Lotsa philosophy here, but I'm starting to realize that the perfect model doesn't exist at least for me. Now my goals are fun and improvement. Challenges I now realize are the good part of the game. Things to be figured out, satisfaction when they are. As long as I'm improving with age, however slight, all is good. Again the Gang has been a good influence on my wandering model career with encouragement, technical assistance and fun social interaction.
The model show is part of the game, a test of skills or at least improvement as, will I do better this time? I hope so but not really life threatning! LOL!----Expectations, low, Fun factor, high. It's all icing on the cake from here!
Any of this making any sense? LOL!
Just typing,
Lol perfect model?? Not if I built it lol. I gave up on that impossible persuit a while ago. Too stressfull lol.
You are going to do great Max. All four of those models are very well done and I love the camo on the 262. That had to be challenging.
I think you're going to have a great time, and I wish you luck, my friend. :)
Wow! I think they're all prize worthy! Best of luck.
And, like another Mike, I really find the camo on the 262 to be fantastic.

Max - They're all great, you'll do fine with the judging. (My money will be on the A-37, a real beaut.) Thanks for the look, best wishes for the event, please send photos of all your trophies. (:>)

Great looking presentations Max. I wish I could go down and meet you and check out the vendors, but I need to spend the day repairing storm damage from last nights big blow.

I missed the big one last night but the wind is howling as we speak! Tear 'em up gusts of 45mph. I finally came inside. Maybe we can do the show next year, put it on your calender!
Max, allow me to echo my feelings that you have several potential prize winners on display. I think I'm leaning towards the A-37, but they are all nice. Glad to see you are going in to have fun, and may I wish you tons of fun, good hunting to fill out the stash and inspiration for the next round of Max's museum expansion!

I must say that the Gang is a good cheering section! This was just to be a weekend outing to entertain the wife and I. Now I have to look back through the models and tune them one more time. With a support base like this, more than just a ribbon is a stake, Judgement Day is upon me! LOL! The Gang's support has increased the Fun Factor by orders of magnitude! Thanks everyone, you're a great bunch!
I think I took ten models last time to the show. I felt lucky to get one white ribbon as an amateur in the show. IMPS shows are not for the weak at heart. We'll do the best we can, it's all for fun!
Thanks again!
Well, my wife printed five entry forms rather than four and it's only $2 to enter one more. I browsed the Museum one more time. Another class would give me more chances to win something. Ah, maybe something for the Armour guys. My German Leopard was fourth out of four the last time due to lack of mud, battle damage and weathering plus wear and tear. Of course they deserved to win, they were all outstanding. Hmm, but the Museum is not in to destruction but reconstruction and factory new. I'm not putting any mud on my factory Leopard. I guess I'll fight the Battle clean. Better to have fought the Battle and lost than to have never fought at all and all those other sayings that go along with losing. We'll give it a shot, so to speak!
Ps--This Hobby Boss 1/35 Leopard is really a nice kit. I bought it on sale for peanuts. It has cool PE screens and such. My one and only Armour, I was was happy with the final!
Nice cat....just put a note on the description sheet "as delivered from the factory"
Hey Goldhammer, Will do! Oops. New display card in the works as we speak!
goldhammer Nice cat....just put a note on the description sheet "as delivered from the factory"
Ah, that's better, nothing better than a new shiny, er, matte tank fresh from the factory! Now I'm ready.
Just got back home from yesterday's show for a quick report. All positive. I'll try to post an overview soon on the show and adventure.
The news is good on two fronts. First, I did get a second place on the B-25J and second, I brought home 5 more fun things build! Tough competition as usual but I did way better than I expected and I was equally excited by two vendor bargins and three win items on ticket drawings.
I'd been looking for a 1/72 Space Shuttle Orbiter for the Museum and there it was in a beat up box for $20 which I got for $15, yay! I didn't have a 1/48 Me 109 in the Museum and found this nice Hasegawa on the $5 rack, yay again! My wife bought some tickets for drawings and won a cool Tamiya 1/12 Bimota motorcycle, yay!, a Hasagawa 1/48 F-104, quite usable, and a potential grandson gift, a Testors 1/24 Corvette. A good haul and good adventure!
I'll try to get some show pix out as soon as I sort them out.
Later
Second place! That's nothing to scoff at, Max! :D
I had my money on that cool 262. Lol
Nice show haul too. I'm missing a 109 in my collection too and I'm itching to correct that.
I'll be lurking and waiting for those pictures! :D
Hi,
Sounds like you had a great day overall. Have fun with your new kits. I'm a little envious of the Space Shuttle one.

Thanks Mike! I did have lotsa lookers on the 262 and had to explain to the camo on it several times. I told them that it was done by a 1/48 German with a large sea sponge. LOL! Strange fate on the B-25J as it wasn't on my original list for the show. A Harrier was above it but after a close inspection it got replaced by the Mitchell. Who knows on these things! More show pix soon!
PFJN Hi, Sounds like you had a great day overall. Have fun with your new kits. I'm a little envious of the Space Shuttle one. Pat
Hey Pat, the same vendor also had a couple of Revell 1/72 Shuttle w/tank and boosters and I got him down to $60 which was a good buy. Then I got figuring the final size of the assembly and decided I didn't have anyplace it would fit!
Always a fascinating subject to me now and then. I've got a 1/200 scale to show the whole stack and it will be fun to have the 1/72 Orbiter flying with the same scale B-52 and B-36!
Max, congrats on the second place, which looks well deserved. I was betting on the A-37, but not being able to see the competition, it must have been great. Nice haul also, and I see you followed my advice for the next round of the museum expansion. Sounds like a fun time and I look forward to seeing some pictures, if you want to share.
Great job Max!

Yeah, with as little space that I have right now I guess I might be better off just looking at other peoples big scale builds
