Greetings, I started this 1/48 scale build in February; but could not post it because Photobucket and my MAC had some type of disagreement. I noticed that Lananda has just started posting his excellent build of the B-26. It seems that I might be up and running again on Photobucket, so I decided to give it another try. We are building the same kit ; but we are taking different approaches. Namely, Lananda is going all out with detail; I am trying to build it out of the box almost. I had enough detailing on my B-29!

On the Bench:
Revell 1/96 USS Constitution - rigging

Trumpeter 1/350 USS Hornet CV-8 Prep and research
No detail allowed, equals no wires!
The basic components almost ready to go together!
This kit requires alot of seam work. This is the worst one.
All seams required some work.
This is that tail gun position which everyone loves. You can see that there is more to be done here!
The B-26 was one of the first bombers to have butt panels, as opposed to overlapping panels, which are better represented by recessed lines; but the raised lines will do just fine! You may notice that the flight deck is green. Most B-26s were bare aluminum with back from the window frames up. However, the insulation was green. You can see it in the Flack Bait nose display as brown (that is faded green).
Sweet! There never enough Marauders on here! OOB, or fully tricked out, that kit builds up nice. I wanna follow this.

Working on: Breda BA-65 1/48
Well, Lananda, after beating myself up converting a B-29 to the Silverplate Enola Gay which included modifications, couple hundred scratch built parts, photo etch, and crew; I needed a brake! Never-the-less, I could not resist adding the bombardier's armor.
Actually, I am taking a simpler approach to all my modeling because I have far more models than I can finish in the time I have left to do any modeling; so I want to limit the time I spend on each project! Hey, I love the detail that you put into your bird!

Yes I have, Chris; it will be olive. I want to model Flak Bait; but the decals that I made from photos are very thick. If I find that they are not workable I may model Mild & Bitter. Both aircraft come from the same production batch and share similar service, so it would be easy to make the switch.
I am about to spray can Tamiya Primer. This will show me what still needs more work. Lots, I am sure!

It looks like you have solved the worst fit issues and I'm looking forward to your next installment. Mine was a putty monster but in the end this kit turns into a great looking B-26 ( my favorite bomber). I only wish Hasagawa or Tamiya would produce this great plane in the future.

Everything looks good shipwreck. Interested in seeing how the first coat looks!
The first coat of primer went on yesterday. That means I had a lot of patching up to do this morning. This afternoon the second coat of primer was applied. There is still several minor touch ups that are needed, but it is close the next base coat of silver.
I suppose there has to be at least one uncooperative seam.
I have experimented with Lazer Bond on this model. So far the results are good. It is like a clear 2 part epoxy; strong bond, but it does not sand! It has a precise applicator for filling gaps; just clean up the excess, like immediately!

In preparation for the final camouflage and paint chipping, I airbrushed Chrome Silver X-11 on the top surfaces with some Flat Aluminum and Metallic Grey. The bottom surfaces were left prime with some Dark Grey.
The top surfaces were sprayed with Olive Drab XF-62 with Flat White and Dark Green. The bottom was sprayed with XF-53 Nutral Grey and some white, black and dark grey.
The paint chipping was done with salt. After some sanding, it will be ready for some Future and decals.

That is coming along nicely . I got to see Flak - Bait at the Smithsonian . That was a lesson in squish ! I had more room in the office of my B-25 . Anyway even if you have to do the other bird , you're doing a bang up job . War Weary in Miniature ! Cool ! T.B.

I have used the salt technique several times and was very happy with my results. I see that your salt technique is fantastic and I'm most impressed with the chipping effect!

On the Bench: Too Much
I have declared my B-26 build completed; now for clean-up and sealing, and maybe a hard stand. I did not have a decal sheet for Flak Bait, so I had to do the nose art and mission bombs from photos, the white call letters on the fuselage were brush painted, the national insignia from the kit sheet. At this point I will set it aside and think about it after a couple of days!
That sir looks fantastic to me. I can't believe that's hand painted. It looks like a decal to me, what a great build sir!
