Thank you Martin.  Yeah, I'm getting excited as I near finishing this bird.  Only have a few items left in the build, then it's on to weathering.

Latest WIP pictures of my Thunderbolt, Passionate Patsy.  Nearly there!

Well, it's been really slow progress over the last week or so.  Lots of distractions/issues, but now the construction/painting phase is essentially complete.

Did some chipping on the prop and made a first pass with oils for weathering.  I like how the oils look.  The long set-up time is nice in that it gives you a chance to fix things you don't like, but it's also agravating just to maneuver the plane without smudging anything.  Once the oil weathering is done I'll finish with some light chipping of the painted areas, shoot it with a light dull-coat, permanently afix the canopy and call it complete.

Cheers, Mark

So far just great!

I can only hope that I'll be able to do my jug with half the fine show yours puts on.

Wow!  That is just excellent.  Painting and weathering is exceptional.  I hope you have somewhere to display that bird.  I am more than a little jealous of your skill.

WIP - Tamiya P-47 Bubbletop / Passionate Patsy  (COMPLETED)

Here are some final pics of Passionate Patsy, that I build for the Thunderbolt Group Build.  I really like how she came out, though of course there are about a thousand little things I'd like to "fix" or "undo," but I feel good about it now, so why push my luck?  lol

Thanks to everyone for help and encouragement along the way!  This is the first true WIP thread I've done and I've enjoyed every bit of it.

I don't really have a good lighting setup for pictures, so these were just taken with the plane on some poster board and a couple of room lamps.  Maybe have to invest in a better photo setup.

Cheers, Mark

I think it's an exceptional build. Good job on the weathering, streaking from the guns and the chipping. I really admire how you've painted her as well. Fine choice of which aircraft to model - Passionate Patsy! Oh yeh.

Thanks Mike.  I like the scheme as well, though it was hard to choose since there are so many out there for the p-47.

Thank you Jamie.  I'm glad I could get you to like the P-47 a little.  Smile  To tell the truth, it's never been a favorite of mine either, but after researching and building this plane I have come to like it a lot.

Mark, this is a beautiful build from top to bottom. =] Great NMF painting! Great weathering! You've got a lot of great things happening in between too. Keeping things crisp and clean until you're ready to make a mess is a tricky thing I feel. You've done a great job all around. Don't sweat the lighting. Most of my work in progress is done from the kitchen table. I save all the pretty pics for last. One of these days I'm gonna get more sophisticated like Lawdog and class up my pictures of building, but for now I'm doing the best I can.

You've got yourself one passionate Patsy right there. =D

Wow this is some impressive work. I loved the Tamiya jug I did a few months ago and I'd like to try a NMF bubbletop sometime. This is certainly inspiring!
