This is an old Monogram 1/48 ME-262 I started to use as a test bed for scribing a while back. Some research revealed that these early jets had their panel lines puttied up in an attempt to reduce drag so they had mostly a smooth finish but some were really sloppy as the putty was hastily applied as seen in period pictures. I'm doing this one for the Monogram Mafia GB but posting here for those not following the GB.
I plan to put it on a small dio base a la Bish style LOL. Hope you don't mind using your idea Bish if you read this.
Not spending much time in the pit since most will be hard to see once things get closed up.
The kit is very simple and builds up quick. Got things clamped and glued up.
Things move along fast
PPP was used to fill in the panel lines
To remove the PPP, I used water and Q Tips on tight areas and moistened paper towel for the rest of the clean up.
Floquil Old Silver was sprayed for the NMF. Later in the day I mixed up some Vallejo grey green and dark grey to get the putty color which was then hand brushed over the panel lines. Some lines are not puttied cause they are access panels or slats.
The canopy and windscreen got masked and sprayed RLM66 first then Old Silver.
The RLM66 shows up as the interior frame color.
more to come.
