Real G

Toshi,

Good to see you tackling another great subject!

I have this kit in the stash too, and was reluctant to think about rescribing the panel lines.  I have done a few kits, and can say with certainty that I HATE rescribing!  Looking over the kit I saw two potentially difficuly problems to overcome.  Firstly, the upper/lower wing join line runs through some fairly busy details on the underside, and the fit is poor.  Secondly, my kit is the one with Case XX (no upturned tips) wings, and Monogram had made the molds to allow the earlier wing tips to be swapped in during the molding process.  My wing tips are thicker than the rest of the wing and they have heavy sink marks marring all that lovely Monogram surface detail.  I figured to properly address both issues a rescribe would be in order, which is why I haven't started the kit.

One tiny detail that will be easy to fix is that there are what appears to be control surface locks on the outboard edges of the elevons.  These need wigs to be removed for an in-service machine.  I only noticed this when I was wallking around a real F-102 at the Evergreen Museum in McMinnville, OR, and saw the locks.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll do a stellar job as usual!

Oh, I am most honored and humbled that you would offer such information and services to me.  That must be cool to be walking around a F-106.  And thank you for the privilege in giving me the information on the wings and outboard edges of the elevons.

Your friend, Toshi

Hi Toshi,

That is a good kit, and you will need to build its big sister, the F106.

Hello scottrc!  I just saw it and asked Mrs. Toshi if I can have it?  She turned around and showed me she had purchased it already.  LOL!

I’ll have to look around got the F106!  Thanks for the tip.

I'll be watching this one Toshi! I have this kit in the stash, but it's the Encore boxing with all kinds of AM goodies. I can't wait to see what you do with it!

Here is the joining of the fueselage.  I’ve also decided to rescribe the panel lines.  This is my second time doing this so I should or I am having fun doing this!  Check it out!

To my Fellow FSM Forum Members,

Here I have an old school kit with raised panel lines.  I don’t mind that at all as I’ve never built one of these before nor seen this In my childhood.  So I was very excited when Mrs. Toshi decided to purchase this kit for me as a gift.  Sorry  I’ll start below with the box art.
