Very Nice job, Indeed!!
lawdog114That turned out fantastic Keyda. Now you don't have to worry about dusting it. Thanks for bringing it over here for us to get a peek.
Thanks lawdog! I used your tutorial on wiring the engines, it's a bit tedious, but well worth the efforts! I had to use my magnifier lamp to see, lol. With this build I wanted to add any detail I was capable of adding though! I'm sure I'll continue to wire engines....in 1/48 anyway!
"Can you fly this plane and land it?...Surely you can't be serious....I am serious, and don't call me Shirley"
Thanks fotofrank!
tempestjohnny, Thanks! Definitely my best one. I made sure nothing was skipped or overlooked, lol.
How did I miss this. What a finish. Easily your best one yet. The color variation is perfect.
Super nice, Keyda. Now Whiskey 7 has a realy nice home. Well done.
OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...
Mini Whiskey 7 now has her own custom homemade display case. Had hubby help me with it since I'm not that good with construction projects. Turned out pretty well for the first time making one, and the odd shape. I picked up the grass at HL and used spray adhesive to adhere it.
A few before the lid goes on.
I made a little sign too.
On the shelf with the lid. The caulk will eventually dry clear.
Mike, It was certainly out of my comfort zone, lol. But I'm really glad I attempted it. I learned what I'm actually capable of doing. I still need more practice with PE though, lol. I'm sure the proper tools would help with that as well. Thank you! I've taken a few commercial flights through the years, but I never really liked flying. Until I took a flight in Whiskey 7. I don't know exactly what it was, maybe the fact that there is much more sensory experience to it in W7. All the sounds, like the engines starting up, and throttling up, you could feel every bump going down the runway, and the second she left the ground you felt it. You could feel the wind through the open cockpit windows, hear the engines just humming along. Commercial flights feel like your in a tiny uncomfortable chair stuffed inside a sardine can. They go way higher up in altitude and it makes my ears hurt. Lol.
Thanks Tosh! Hope you and the wife are doing good. Glad to see you back on the forums!
To Keyd,
I’ve just returned from an illness with my wife and I. This looks amazing!
Your friend,

Keyda, Good on you for stretching out your comfort zone and coming through with flying colors (pun intended). You're picking up bits and pieces of this hobby quickly and my hat's off to you for jumping into more "advanced" techniques.
As I've probably mentioned too many times before, the DC-3 was the first aircraft in which my brother and I were passengers so it has a soft spot in my fading memory banks.

JacknewbIII I really like the color scheme on that one! Very nicely done all around on that build!

the Baron That's a great finish, Keyda! Yeah, I like the donation bomb, too, that's a nice touch. In fact, you've got great details all over the plane. Well done! But-what did you do with the stick of paratroopers?

Thanks! I tossed them in one of my spare parts boxes. I'm not much for painting figures, lol.

Thanks kensar! I'm going to have to try my hand at a diorama for sure.
Thanks Joe! I think I'll start on my Airfix P-40 for Bish's group build next.
Thanks Greg!
Nice work and good attention to detail.
Wow! That looks fantastic, you really nailed the colors. Your scratch building looks very good, really adds to the model.
So, what's next?
Joe
Excellent looking result, Keyda. The detailing and scratchbuilt details really add to the model. A nice display base would really set it off!

rooster513 Keyda81 rooster13, Thank you! I don't think I could part with my Mini Whiskey 7, lol. I don't blame you there, lol. Maybe they could hang up a picture of it

They are more than welcome to! The A & P mechanic who is also one of Whiskey's pilots followed along with the build on facebook and has seen the pictures, so he's more than welcome to snag some. He's hoping he can be the pilot for mine and my daughters flight this year.
fotofrank, Thanks! That is usually how I see her when we arrive at the airshow in Geneseo. I'm hoping I can get hubby to help me build a display case. I'll see about adding some fake grass, since in Geneseo it's a turf runway. I might even be able to print out a back round or something to put on the wall of the case. I want her in a case either way, and soon. I don't want to try and dust her! You are more then welcome to borrow the idea! I have to credit GMorrison for the idea to include the donation bomb. He picked it out in one of my pictures and mentioned it.
Really somthing, Keyda. The airshow set up is a cool concept since airshows is how we see these great old airplanes today. The airshow set up and the paint/color variations really bring the build to life. The gust locks are a nice touch and lend some reality to the display. I think I'll "borrow" the gust lock idea for a future build. Keyda, Whiskey 7 is one of your best!
Keyda81rooster13, Thank you! I don't think I could part with my Mini Whiskey 7, lol.

Thanks Shipwreck! She holds a special place in my heart. I was lucky enough to take a flight in her last summer, and plan to do so again this year with my daughter.
rooster13, Thank you! I don't think I could part with my Mini Whiskey 7, lol.
Greg, Thanks, and you are exactly right! I have never put that much effort into a build before. I surprised myself, lol.
JayJay, Thank you! Having the chance to take a ton of pictures helped too, lol. I had well over 200 reference photos. No denying I love Whiskey 7 though!
I'm finally retired. Now time I got, money I don't.
Superb work, Keyda!
The 'love' really shows through. It's always special to do a project where there's some personal connection: I think it brings out the best in us as builders, and your project is a perfect example of that.
A real gem!

This is really cool Keyda! I've seen this bird a few times, including at the airshow this past summer and you've done a great job replicating it I bet the museum would love to display it with all the other models they have.
Keyda that is a WOW build. You are doing good. I have a special interest in the Dakoda because my father was in the 101st Airbourn, infantry, and the Dakoda was the motor that made the gliders fly!

knox That is a seriously sweet build! I love the donation bomb. The DC3 is one of my favorite airplanes. I got to fly in them all the time in New Guinea. Once I can start posting pictures again, I plan on joining your group build. Again— Nice job. knox

Thanks knox! It was actually an idea from another forum member to add the donation bomb. It's not entirely accurate, but it does the job! Will be glad to have you aboard.
