Anybody know where I can get a black coffee cup to put the black badge on that Clemens made? I looked at Vistaprint and couldn't find anything yet.

CafePress looks to have black option for mug, but I got the Canadian site version:

I ordered mine from Zazzle. They have the mugs with a black inside and handle so when for that. Unfortunately I think it has to ship across the pond, but none of the UK sites I found did that. The outside of the mug is white, but I liked the look of the white edging around the badge.

Thank you to the one that designed the mug. I appreciate that. I am still lacking some paint before I can get started.  I am hoping I can get to the hobby store tomorrow make a supply run.  I hope everyone has a happy new year. To our allies across the pond. I hope more episodes of midsomer murders comes to Netflix.  One of my favorites.  Happy New Year!

Snap!  I'm in with my Hasegawa 1/48 G-2.

Mustang, morning, Happy New Year and thanks for running the GB .

Will be done as a crossover with the Aces build.

SchattenSpartan, I have seen you were looking for decals (but may have ordered some already) I have the following old old decals floating around if you or anyone else wants them. The personalised markings for Marseille are also up for grabs, I need the stencils and crosses for my build.

My build will be as black 6, which ended up in the Duxford flying displays.

....and boy is that entry list growing.  Largest GB I've been a part of by far. Can't wait to start cutting some plastic on this one......only 8 1/2 hours for those on the left coast.

I have my kit out and got the instructions printed off tonight. I will be making a start in the morning when all nice and fresh, which will probably before you have even hit midnight. Can't wait to get at this engine.

It's 34 minutes into the new year here in Arizona.  Time to get to work.  Just waiting for the Eduard  interior PE set for my E-7 to arrive.

Happy to say I'm underway!  Starting work on the 'pit.  I have the Aires one, but the kit offering looks right up there with it, so I'll use the Aires set as a guide to beefing up the kit office.  Chances are I'll be swiping some of the actual resin and PE parts from it as well. Should have some pics up tomorrow.

I also got started this morning, here is a small initial update. I started on the bulkhead between cockpit and engine. There are not many parts to this. This is my first all resin kit and I am taking it easy. There are of course no locating tabs so checking placement is important as is checking the instructions. I almost fitted one part in the wrong place and trying to remove resin secured with CA is not pretty.

So this section is now ready for primer, the MG's and ammo belts will be fitted later on.

I also removed the pour stubs from the prop blades and sanded off the base of the prop hub, this will be painted as they are and assembled after wards.

And that's it for now. I have a couple of other kits I want to get some primer on this weekend, so will do these parts at the same time.

Morning all (early) ! And Happy New Year!!!

Started a little earlier, but all very basic at this point... Bish, Man, I cant WAIT to see that engine! That is going to be so cool!!! Well, lets get going here.

Again, I will kick off GB with one of my good ole Matchbox kits. I have the PE and goodies for it but lets see what we can do with or without. Many times, I change direction in the midst of a build, depending on how its going, I will be starting with the engine, and hope to have it complete by tomorrow night (I think).

I know there are some inaccuracies in these kits and from past builds will try to resolve as many as possible, but most all kits do have them. I still like these old kits and add them to my stash as often as I feel the need if the price is right,Wink Looking forward to being amazed by this large and talented group we have here. I know there will be many breath taking builds to admire!

Take care all!

Doug

Thanks guys.

Doug, really looking forward to that Matchbox kit. I have not seen one of their 32nd kits before and they may not be the most accurate company, but I think they are some what underrated. That engine looks nice.

Morning Bish... Yeah, I ran across one at a flea market one time and decided to give it a try, and was really impressed with the kit over all. The one glaring fault with the kit is the oil cooler fairings have a brace dead center and it is WAY too wide and needs to be cut out and replaced with about a .020 thou. round piece of plastistruct. Also on these kits, the canopy is a horrible fit and I always wind up inserting a .015 thou. strip of plastistruct around the edges of the pit just to get them to fit properly. I don't see this one being any different. Next the landing gear struts can be described in 3 words...weak, weak, and weak! I have bought some white metal legs but will first try to reinforce the plastic ones with pins and epoxy, several other issues (Minor) arise but are easily dealt with. It sounds like a terrible kit but it really isn't, Its well detailed and actually a good build and fit.

I got started on my 109 shortly after midnight.  I washed the trees and airbrush dried the parts.  Removed most of the cockpit parts for the first couple steps.  After a few hours of sleep, I started to assemble some of the cockpit parts early this morning.  The parts are loosely assembled (no glue) to check for fit.  May paint some later, but I can't go too far till the PE set I ordered arrives.

I also have a bit of a dilemma.  The radio gear is included, but I don't think it will be very visible.  So I'm not sure I will build it.  The pic shows what I'm talking about.  Thoughts on what I should do?

As always, any advice along the way is appreciated.

Hi guys, great starts on those that have posted. Beer

Craig -  I wouldn't bother with the radio, unless you plan to have the fuselage access door open, as that is the only way it will be visible.

Jack

Nice start Craig, and I will second jack. Unless you are having that panel open, just leave the radio, might come in handy for another build.

Doug, sounds like you have a bit of work to do, but it all adds to the accomplishment. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for the input Jack and Bish.  I'm gonna leave out the radio gear.  May come in handy for another build.

I started shootin' some paint this afternoon.  I'm pretty much going by what the instructions call for.  If there is an obvious error in my choice of paint color, I hope someone would point it out.

I painted the cockpit floor RLM 66 per instruction.  Also, I shot some RLM 02.  Looks like a majority of the cockpit will be RLM 02.  The paint I'm using for RLM 02 is Vallejo model air (FS34201).  It has kind of an olive drab tint to it.  Is that right?  I really like the way the Vallejo MA paint goes on.  Very smooth and clean.  Next is the flat black (Tamiya).
