John Belushi is in 1941... The remake of the Bogart film, Sahara, stars Jim Belushi.

Hans the Belushi film is 1941. And it was Jim, James older brother.  A funny war movie based on the Japs attacking or thinking they are attacking Hollywood.  Ends up the sink a fairris wheel. The m3 is in the same film and yes it is on DVD. I own it.

Hans,

For ease of updating, maybe you should edit your first post on this thread to include the list.

Hans! Fabulous concept! Good for you!

I love the dates, too. Consider me in with an uncommitted build. The imagination reels!

(I will put dibs on the final scene from 'Casablanca' with the WB knock-off of a Ryan or Ford airplane.)

I'll do my research whatever I decide!

Could be just for the cover. Maybe in the film it's an M4

Got so excited about this build I had to make my own little build bage with a poster from the movie.

I think the guy that posted at IMDB doesn't know armor... Looking at the cover, it sure looks like a Lee to me...

Definately a Lee in the original. Dunno what they used in the James Belushi re-make, haven't seen it.

Yes, I mean Bogey with the M3.

Here's one of my first references:

I understand the German plane straffing 'Lulubelle' in the film was a P-51B. Something to consider for the scene  I decide to model.

Belushi chasing after his P-40 at the gas station from 1941

That's a hillarious scene... As would be his "bail out" after he crash-lands on Hollywood Blvd...

Cool idea. Want to play with doing something from "1941" or "Sahara" with the Lee that's been on the shelf since one of those movies was made.......so consider me a definate "maybe" at the moment.

I'd like to try something from either 'Sahara' or '30 Seconds Over Tokyo'.

Or the James Belushi version.  Don't know if that one even made it to DVD, just happend to pass it on cable one day.

Haven't seen it, didn't know there was a remake, but it's in the IMDB... I guess remakes are a go...

OK, I will commit to this one, since it has long been an idea I have toyed with myself. I have a few ideas each from The Longest Day, BattleGround, and A Bridge Too Far that I will have to play elimination with.

Hans,

Can the scene be from a movie about filming a war movie?  I'm thinking about the final scene from The Great Waldo Pepper where Waldo and Kessler face off in a Camel and DR.1.

In keeping with the theme, I'd have to say no.  The Great Waldo Pepper wasn't a war movie, and the story didn't take place during WW1.  To do those types of scenes, look to Flyboys, Hell's Angels, or Dawn Patrol, for instance...

I kinda figured that, also started leaning away from it once I realized that to do it justice it would have to be done in 1/32 scale and there are no seated pilot figures in that scale.  Plus the foot print would be too big.  Here's a few scenes I'm toying with:

Belushi chasing after his P-40 at the gas station from 1941

Akroyd and crew standing atop the Lee/Stuart from 1941

The defense of Durant's helo from BlackHawk Down

The scene where the American and German patrols pass each other from Longest Day

The I'm crippled, he's dead and you're lost scene from Longest Day

F-14's and Zeros from Final Countdown

Of course if I really wanted to get ambitious, a battle scene from any movie that had a lot of figures such as Henry V, Zulu/Zulu Dawn, Gettysburg, etc.  But heck, I've got until Dec to do research and make my decision.

Hans,

Here's what I'm thinking..watched scenes from Pearl Harbor...I wanted to go for a dramatic feel...nothing static cause that would be lame..so...there's a scene right when the USS Arizona buckles up and explodes (would need lots of scratchbuilding and special effects) or since I'm mostly an aircraft guy...there's a great scene were the two P-40's are racing across the airfield to get airbourne...I'm thinking full spinning props, blurred ground effects....hmmmm...decisions decisions decisions...

This is a fun idea! There's that C-47 that keeps showing up, L4, in Band Of Brothers.

But I'm sorely tempted to build the HOS-3 that "Mike Forney" flew in Bridges at Toko Ri, which is a fine movie. FM makes the kit in 1/48, but I'd rather drink Drano.

Belcher made one too, complete with the pilot in top hat. Expensive though, but I'm going to keep an eye out.

Nicely done, Hans. This will be a very popular GB to watch, so get your list up and you have a winner.

Talk about a build with unlimited possibilities!  I can think of about 10 possibilities right now ranging from the hilarious to the deadly serious.  Will have to do research.  Better start practicing my figures.

Speaking of Raiders of the Lost Ark, I rewatched it the other day, and is that twin-engined tailless German plane real? I doubt it, but I don't know.  Looks cool though

Italeri....the kit was originally released many moons ago, but they often re-release it.  Right now the kit is readily available.  Its been considered one of Italeri's better kits.

That looks like the Italeri kit. A real gem of their older kits.
