I went thru my 109 stash this afternoon, I have a couple G6s, a G10, G14 and a K4. After looking at all of them, I am leaning towards the K4 in a Bodenplatte participant markings.

What up with the G-10's. Here I thought the G-6 was the popular choice for most. I would not have guessed that. Me thinks me's should drag out my G-10 info. G-10's are like snow flakes, no two alike.

BTW frank, I know you plan no doing "yellow 5", but I just thought I'd tell yousome now think "white 44" is actually a mit built G-14/AS. new pics and info have been found. I have not as of yet confirmed this myself. The info I have shows that NJG 11 did not operate G-14/AS. Funny I should see that at the same time I'm looking for info on it.

Stan- I thought about doing a G-6 night fighter, but really liked the look of Yellow 2 on the decal sheet.  May still do Yellow 5, but the other one is really grabbing my eye right now.  There are so many colors and tones in the profile, it looks like a lot of fun to paint! Big Smile [:D]

Has anyone thought of doing the bare metal G-6 Mosquito chaser? It is kind of a cool one.

Oh no! I dug into my stash, to the carton listed in my log, but the G-6 wasn't there! It was cataloged incorrectly! Grumblebitchgripe! The G-10 is probably where it's supposed to be, but the K-4 is in a carton I can't get to without tearing a room apart. I might actually have to buy something. Imagine it!

There was a G-6 that the Luftwaffe sanded down to bare metal to try to add speed. It was for chasing down Mosquitos that were flying over Germany. A regular G-6 couldn't run down a Mosquito going full bore so they tried to add some speed to one.

Here is a link for a build of it:

Thanks Frank.  I've been looking for a GB to slide the G-10 into.  Interesting story about the Russian Liberation Army-you talk about being between a rock & a hard place....

Cooo eeee, ive found you all. Count me in for sure. Never need an excuse to build another 109. Problem is i dont have anything that late. Aah well, im away this weekend and the future ex-missus has promised to buy me a kit if i come with her to her Aunts. Sounds like a decent reason to go LOL. Im off now to sort out a few extras, courtesy of Hannants.

...Guy

P.S Right thats the ordering done. Ive ordered the eagle cal sheet for the red scalloped nosed K-4 of Hermann Graf along with the CMK cockpit set for the same. The kit will be Hasagawa 1/48

Fellas- With the upcoming holiday next weekend here in the States, I decided to bump up the start date to Thursday, the 27th.  That way, if people want to get going on their builds next weekend, they can do so freely! Big Smile [:D]

This should turn into a great GB. I know what will happen, as with all good GB's, we'll end up building 2 or 3 or even 4 builds. I only planned one build with the BoB GB but ended up building 3!! Ive ordered the eagle cal decal sheet, theres about 4 planes to decal on there, add to that Hasa and Tamiya kits are pretty reasonable OOB and just fall together. Mmmmmm.

Roll on the 27th

Frank,

Just an update on my entries, I'll be doing a "Bodenplatte" theme for this GB:

1.  Bf 109K-4, "White 17", 9./JG 77, Uffz. Heinrich Munninger (1/72 FineMolds )

2.  Bf 109G-14/AS, "White 13", 13./JG 53, Uffz. Maxis (1/72 Revell Bf 109G-10 with extensive mods)

Hey Frank! I'm thinking that this GB may be just what I need to get out of my funk, so count me in with a 1/48 Hasegawa G-14, done in Hartmann's winter scheme (always wanted to take a crack at that one). Got the kit, lots of Eduard PE, AM decals, a CMK resin 'pit/wheels/spinner, and some Moskit exhausts to throw into it. Should be fun! Big Smile [:D]

And how Frank! I do not think I will be doing any RAF camo colors for a while! I am still seeing cross-eyed! I can feel the Luftwaffe calling me to the dark side now!
