 A quickie update,

Mounted a few of the tools, I find it best to do the trimming while the part is still attached to the sprue, after the molded on clamps are filed/sanded away the part can be removed. I scratched a prybar from brass rod.

 Thanks for looking,

 Mobious

Oops, another wuickie update,

Just got the shovel and the axe fixed. I started with the shovel, but soon found out the axe has to be mounted first with the shovel being mounted somewhat above the axe. Tool clasp were added to the axe, a new shovel reciever was built from styrene along with detailing the shovel head. I'd done this with the LWS build, but it was covered by the open cargo doors. I did double check the clearance with the radio antennae trough, and everything checked out.

Best Regards and "Thank you folks for kindly dropping in!"

I think it's an understatement to say your working fast. Your workin' at a blistering speed, are you sure you don't have a tank factory Mobious?Big Smile [:D]

"I've got blisters on my FINGERS!" ... I actually do have to build fast in order to avoid being overwhelmed by the ever growing "Stash" monster. Me thinks its ALIVE!!!

Truethfully, this is a relatively easy build. Very few parts. Aside from the tools, the turret is the only thing left, and it's pretty basic.

First off, I'm happy that this GB have so many interested.. I'm optimistic for more members! And it's probably a bit early to ask for interest in a 2010 GB Whistling [:-^]

Boba Fett: "you da Huxy"  Nah, didn't sound too good Smile [:)]

Mobious: Glad you enjoyed the pictures of Norway and the fellow neighbours! You may now probably understand why Panzers weren't so 'popular' in Norway? Dead [xx(]

And your Panzer II, Great job so far!! I love the front lights especially! Can you post a picture of the original ones so we can see difference? Smile [:)]

And the styrene replacement for the shovel looks a little bit too big/thick in my opinion.. But a great, awsome work so far! Let's see it with colours! Big Smile [:D]

And the stash, it is alive.. Nothing more to say! Tought you knew that already!!

----------------------------------------------

And a update from me...

See the blad of the propellor is all wrong? I contacted the manufacturer (Airfix) for a replacement.. No replies nor nothing in the mail Disapprove [V]

Hello putty and sanding!!

And sanded...

and all the sinkmarks (Those circular suckers) that I have now removed, filled ant sanded...

A huge mouldline along the engine cowl, fixed now though...

And an instrumentpanel and side details were added...

A bit further progress have been made.. actually, alot progress.. Painted the cockpit, attached the cockpit to the hull side, glued the hull sides togheter, added engine cowl and propellor, elevators and wings.. Pictures to come!! Smile [:)]

So that was that!  Big Smile [:D]

Hey huxy, The stash is alive, I clean up the work area, put a kit or two away and the next day there are 4 or 5 setting on the bench calling out to me! Build Me! Build Me!....Big Smile [:D]

Finished up with the tools and should be moving onto the turret. Did manage a pic of the lights. The shovel holder should be OK, It's the thinnest material I've got in stock. I think it's like >.010" ( > .25mm). I'll keep an eyeball on it after primer, thanks for the heads up!  The CA hazed the clear pretty badly.Banged Head [banghead] I need to attach the bezels first with the CA, then the lens with white glue. Should be an easy fix though.

Looks like a save on the prop huxy. Nice job. Those sinkmarks must have been a bear considering where they are located. I'm used to seeing things like that on the inside, not on the outside?

 Thanks for checking in Jason

 Mobious

Huxy, since this GB runs until something like Oct. of 09, count me in for an  1/48 FW190 A8. The stash is calling...Wink [;)] REAL LOUDLY!

Yeah.. I got a 1/16 infantryman, 1/35 DUKW, 1/5 Sd.kfz 234 especially yelling at me.. Or is it me yelling at them? Dead [xx(]

Well, glad youincluded the metrics on the thickness.. .010" don't tell me a thing.. Not with the ruler nearby anyways Smile [:)]

And the kit lamps there looks  worse than yours.. They should hire you for kit designing!

And thakns for the prop..  And the sinkmarks, well, it's an old Airfix mould and the wings are not in halves. Each wing is one piece, resulting in 4 huge sinkmarks to remove... Well, they are all fixed (thank god)!

And what!? yet another model?   Well, I can't blame ya.. I'm wondering about building a diorama with the French foregin legion in Narvik, 1940. The Legion 13. D.B.L.E that will be Smile [:)] But not too sure yet..

So I sign you up for another build?

Hey huxy, I've got a 120mm Fallshirmjaeger on his way, a DUKW in the wings(literally), but no amrored car on tap. I do have a Brummbar in the mix. It is armored.Wink [;)] I don't think I'd be the choice for a designer, I wouldn't want everyone mad at me! I did get the turret all buttoned up and repaired the lights. I thinned the bezels down to about half of what I had posted earlier, ordered some lenses for them. I'll install them after paint along with the antennae trough. Should be primed tomorrow and have a few pics up too.

I am not in this build but thought I'd post this.  It's a link to Hobbycraft's new Hawk 75 with Norwegian Markings...

I assume someone is probably doing it but for what it is worth, all the best and good luck on your builds!

Cheers, Matt

Mobious: Dukw on the wings?  ?? What? Laugh [(-D]  Sounds so wrong...

And 120mm?  What scale would that be? Who made it? Recommend it? Big Smile [:D]

Thanks for that link! Very interesting, for sure! Smile [:)]

If you find more, don't hesitate to post!

Well Huxy, got the primer on and it shows a few spots need attention, the tool box and you guessed it, the shovel holder. I forgot to sand the d*#n thing before attaching and don't know if the CA will loosen up the death grip on it. Anyway here are the pics I promised.

Aside from the headlights and the tools this is a nice kit, There are some detailed weld seams that look pretty good. The link/length tracks were a snap to install. Both the 20mm & 7.92mm gun barrels are stock, I didn't have to drill them. After I put the TLC on the sore spots, I should be ready for paint.

I haven't recieved the 120mm figure yet, but I figure it to be close to 1/16. 54mm I believe is close to 1/32 scale.

This is a nice idea, but I'm in a little over my head right now with other stuff.

But... I have a set of Norwegian markings decals for the 1/72 Lockheed Lodestar, which probably would be useful for similar types, and I'd be happy to give them to anyone who sends me a PM. Otherwise they'll just go to waste.

the belly pan on the wings needs to be shimmed up to stop a step from happening .

I have the masterclass video on building the 109 by Flyod Werner and can get the size off for you when I get a free minute. I checked an it is .005  ( 5 thousandths) also don't glue the tail plugs together, glue them two the fuselage parts it fits much better this way

The video I found to be very helpful for my 109 and all the models I do know.

Would a German Panzer 38t work in this Group build?

BryneOut, According to the Squadron Publications "PzKpfw 38(t) in Action" the Ausf A was used in the battle for Poland and France. The Ausf B was in production from Jan. to May of 1940. I don't know what PD's were equipped with them. A caption under one of the photos states that all of Panzergruppe Hoth's PD's (7th,12th,19th, and 20th) were equipped with the 38s. Also a color plate of an Ausf A of the 3rd Liecth Div. in Poland. Don't know if any of this helps but ultimately it is Commandant Huxy's decision.Wink [;)]

Hey Huxy,A few pics of the throw down onda 2tone, the Tommies wont like the 2 tone. Tommy Tutone? Egads! Just about set for the weathering storm to begin. Lost the spare track, I knocked it off with my pinky and it vaporised. No trace. I may have hit it so hard that a molecular chain reaction occured, and all the molecules rearranged themselves into another form of matter, or maybe even antimatter....hmmmm?

Hey Commandant Huxy, Here's a pic of the shovel

I took a couple more pics, but a fuzzy whuzzy was a hanging on one of the tool clasp. Wasn't much of a weathering storm, more of a drizzle, Anyway stick a fork in it. I'll try and get a finished pic up soon. Thanks for tuning in... I'm off to hunt Buffalo.

Mobious, your build looks fantastic and the weathering storm as you put it, has yet to begin. Can't wait to see the finished pics!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Just one question, what paints/techniques do you use to get that wood grain color on the tool handles?Question [?]

I thought I wouldn't get around to this build for awhile. But long story short, I have no paints for my M-3 Scout Car I'm currently building for another GB. So I decided to take this one out and look what I have to work with. So here's the kit, and the ton of sprues in this kit. Look forward to starting later today, it should actually be relaxing compared to the M-3 Scout car which is a 40 year old kit.

Hey mg.mikael, On the shovel handles, I basecoat with an acrylic yellow/orange, trim with dark yellow/orange, drybrush with the same color as the trim, then apply a burnt sienna wash. On the jack block the same sequence was used except grain lines were painted in before drybrushing very lightly.

Finally got the lenses done. It was a struggle on a massive scale nearly equal in effort as getting Armstrong to the moon. At least that's the way I experienced it. The first effort was constructed incorrectly and as a result, the lenses hazed very badly. After making the decision to rebuild them and alter the sequence of assembly, I also thinned them nearly half of their original appearance. The lenses I ordered were not clear as I had hoped, therefore new ones had to be built. This is where the story takes on the possibility of a black hole that resides somewhere near my hobby bench. I cut and sanded to shape at a ratio of 5:1 to cover the loses incurred by the voracious appitite of the roaming black hole. 8 ready to go lenses were lost. I also added Bronco wingnuts to the jack & the jack block hold downs. I like the Bronco set better than the MK set, just my opinion.

//WARNING//CAUTION// here are a couple of pics.

this is a shot next to the CH PzKpfwIIF built last year.

comments and suggestions are always welcome and appreciated. Thanks for checking in and taking a look around the place!

 Best Regards,

 Mobious

Byrneout: Sadly, a Panzer 38 will not work in this GB... Sadly the Germans did never use it here.. Or, the turrets from converted Panzer 38's came to forts in Festung Norwegen (The Norwegian part of the atlantic wall) and used there.. if you build a bunker with the Pz 38 turret, granted..  Unless... I'm sorry! Thanks for the interest though!

Mobious: Mobious... That's an awsome build!  And the shovel cover looks good. But a little bit too long... They should be relatiely shorter, shouldn't they? The shovels weren't that long? And how well is those "... In Action" books?  I am due to order the one for the DUKW soon.. Will be my first Smile [:)]

And I like the title, Kommandant Huxy   Wink [;)]

Sorry for not saying more about your great looking build... I am not the one who can say so much nice about other peoples build.. I feel other people say it for me Big Smile [:D]

Oh, 2 tone camo came out beautifull!  And as mg.mikael said, "[...] what paints/techniques do you use to get that wood grain color on the tool handles?"

Also, I'm not too sure about the flag...  It does look great, yeah... But that was used as a recognition flag to aid the Luftwaffe for not bombing their own tanks... But as Norway didn't have any tanks, would it be needed?   Maybe.. I won't say for sure.. just something I came to think about =)

mg.mikael:  That kit looks huge....  How is the Tristar kits? And is that tank with interior?   Can't wait to see photos!! Big Smile [:D]
