That build looks AWESOME so far!

I personally would leave the transmission out... Use it for something else instead, as you will not be able to see it.

Seems like a lot of problems indeed..   But you'll get there!

Those springs looks like a VERY great step ahead for sure.

And the tips was published in the "readers tips"? Weird you didn't get any money for it..

I myself have sold an article which is yet to be published. But I got the contract signed and I have recieved the money.  That will be a 1 page feauture, not just a small little "tip"  Tongue [:P]

Sorry for a late reply, I've been waaayyy to busy....!

Finally got the interior somewhat put together. It's painted with a base coat of solid white(yeah, I know that's not correct, but the washes I have planned will heavily modify the color.)

The drivers chair is in place, added more texture through the tissue method. The transmission is also in place and is starting to get weathered. It's painted a mix of steel and black, then drybrushed steel, and then splattered with some ModelMaster Graphite Metalic.......I now have to get some washes on.

Here's some other random parts I started work on, such as the frontal armor and the engine. I felt the engine went together nicely, but was way too overengineered. I mean whats the point of bolt/rivet detail on the point of where you glue it to the base, that just doesn't make sense.Dunce [D)]

Then I also went on ahead to the suspension coil, and decided to scratch it. The kit-supplied part to the left, I felt was ok(but let's face it, doesn't look real.) So I took some copper wire and rolled it around a tooth pick to make a simple spring. Then cut some thicker wire for the internal part inside suspension coils. I then took some styrene and cut/sanded to form the end plate for the coil. This will simply all go together at a later step.

Thanks for looking.Smile [:)]

This is my first Tristar kit so I don't know if this is usual(or simply a bad mold.} I've also never heard of problems w/Tristar kits(only heard good things like you.) But I guess I shouldn't complain, since compared to my last build from Zvezda(which was hellishEvil [}:)]), this build is flying together.

jay12472- Looks like your progressing nicely, what scale is that?Question [?]

As for my update, I've been building up the interior slowly. But I've gotten the basic tub shape of the hull put together, along with some other odd's and end's. However the Tristar intructions are incorrect again in places and this time it's not the spelling, it's misnumbered parts.Dead [xx(] The intructions mis-number the two side hull parts, but the solution is simply just switch the parts to opposite sides. But that wasn't the only problem, the rear axle didn't completley connect with the hull, so I had to throw in some putty there. Then the middle axle(the part the is attached to the hull) wouldn't fit under the floor plate so I had to trim some of the piece. Overall, I must say I'm suprised and disapointed by all these faults Tristar has in this kit.Thumbs Down [tdn]

As for the hull sides, the fit isn't the greatest. Not what was I expecting from Tristar, the fit should have been better. But a little putty fills up the gaps perfectly.

I haven't put the transmission in permanently yet, and thankfully I didn't. Nor did I try putting the front axles in positon untill the hull sides were installed. The front axle had a terrible fit(no way on my kit to get the axle perfectly straight like the instructions say. I had to use some glue, and while that was setting, completely move the pieces(that were actually supposed to fit in to each other) untill I got the axle at least connected to the hull. That meant I actually had to purposely mis-align parts(strange I know.Alien [alien]) Thankfully it will be pretty much impossible to see since I'm leaving the 'trans' hatch closed.

Thanks for looking!Smile [:)]

Thanks for lookin' in, jay12472!Smile [:)] I'll look and see if my LHS carries that specific color. If not, I'll probably just take some white and green and make my own dirty white color.

With my Lend-Lease entry done, I can finally start on my 1/35 Tristar Panzer I Ausf. A!!!Big Smile [:D]

I believe I posted these two pics awhile back of what I'll be working with, but nevertheless here they are again. No, that's not an exageration, their really are that many sprues for this miniscule tank.

I put the tansmission together, the lower hull had some parts added, the engine wall was put together, and the floor plate(of which I better scribed the panel lines.) I had some problems with the fit of one or two parts, but I don't think it was the kit since I had problems understanding the part placement from the instuctions.Dunce [D)]

The transmission in my opinion was a tad bit over engineered in my opinion.Shock [:O] It's 13 parts, and if you leave the 'trans' hatch open you'll only see a bit, and if you leave the 'trans' hatch closed(like I plan to do) you'll barely see it through other hatches. Now don't get me wrong the piece had beautiful detail, but unless you're gonna have the transmission displayed outside the armor, it's sort-of a waste.

Lookin' ahead I'm not too sure of the interior color, the instructions say gray, but I believe it was a white of sorts(that's what I'm going with). I guess I'm doubting the instructions since they did spell some words wrong like "early". Tristar spelled it "eearly", I mean come on just get a dang english dictionary or use Wikipedia. Seriously, how hard could it be to spell correctly? Anyways, lookin' forward to gettin' the transmission painted up soon and getting past these problems. Thanks for looking.Smile [:)]

And I'm lookin' forward to starting work on it! It will be my first German build in more then a year. Plus it looks like it will go smoothly together, thus my build time should be pretty quick(but it does come with a full interior so that will probably tack on some time.) Nevertheless I can't wait!!Big Smile [:D]

Hi there.. Been following the GB in a shadow..

Sad to hear about the accident, but the plane came out REALLY well! Almost like the accident helped? Big Smile [:D]

And happy belated D-day, everyone..    Here, let me give you some more Norwegian WWII history.. This time about D-day!

You know how many Allied ships the German Kriegsmarine sunk on this date, that participated in the landings?  One.. Off nearly twelve thousand ships that was there, the German Kriegsmarine sunk just one.

It get's even weirder...  Off all the twelve thousand ships there, the Kriegsmarine did find their way to a Norwegian ship. We had like.. 3-4 bigger ones?  I just find that too weird. The unfortunate vessel, HNoMS Svenner:

[Picture from Wikipedia]

Uboat.net writes the following about it:

History:

Svenner (Lt.Cdr. T. Holte) was torpedoed and sunk off Normandy during an attack by the German torpedo boats T 28, Möwe, Falke and Jaguar.
The wreck lies in 31 meters in position 49º27'42"N, 00º15'06"W. 41 Norwegians and 2 British died, 187 of the crew survived.

Funny, isn't it?

-Lasse

A bit late on my part but.... (LOL!) the attack by the S-Boats and sinking of the Svenner is well covered in the book, "The Longest Day". This attack was pretty much the only offensive action against the landing by the DKM on D-Day, just like Priller's strafing run on the beaches. Allied air and naval superiority was that complete in daytime. Pin pricks against the Allied landings. I believe there was also an American destroyer that was lost to shore batteries after either grounding or hitting a mine off Omaha.

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

That is one SWEET build! I really love it! Wonder what's the deal with that rising sun emblem?

Have to agree with Jay..  Altough a nice plane, it is actually ugly. The wings aren't rather beautifully designed, having somewhat weird shape, especially at the end, and being EXTREMELY fat at the front, very short, and very thin at the end... And those tall, thin, weird angeld gears..

Hah.. It's so ugly it IS cool.. Wink [;)]

Now Mobius, when people are looking at your model display, you can tell them that that plane has the same markings as one had in oxxupied Norway.
And knowing many foregins, they don't really know where Norway is, if they have even heard of it..   Yeah, I stumble on lots of people like that.. Either they don't know it, or think it's the capital of Stockholm in Sweden, or it's in Texas, or they do actually know it very well and love it..

Kind of weird, because when looking at a map, Norway does look like on of the biggest:

Well, todays ramble's done..  Midnight here now. Night!   And I love the look of that Focke Wulf!

Oh, a bit more..   Focke Wulf was made by Fokker, right? Well, you all probably know Fokker 25, 50 and 75 that is a modern twin engined airliner? Well, Fokker 50 is the most used here in Norway today of those three...   We call the coastmopeds Laugh [(-D]

Hey Huxy, I'm going to call this nearly finished. I still need to add the radio antenna, but I wanted to use music wire and haven't found any yet. Here are a couple photos of White 11+o of 9/JG5 stationed in Norway early 1945.

 Thanks for checking in.

I may have missed that ship...

Give me the information again, please Smile [:)]

Looks like a great start however!  I myself prefer full hull ships...

For me, things are very hectical nowadays, as I got a VERY short deadline for a diorama.. A POW camp that was in Norway.. Check out the Diorama section, page 2 for a little more right now..

The Gloster Gladiator is indeed done, but still awaiting to be photographed..

I'm not sure. I may try a water base to see how it goes, if it goes well then I'll added it to the German Battlecruiser I'm planning on doing.

Hey Jay, any plans for a dio/base with the Destroyer? I've seen a model of the Blucher, but I haven't built a ship model in a LONG time. I did get the decals for the FW190. Just haven't had motivation. Actually I almost finished a Bf109 in service with JG27 in Africa. Wasn't real happy with the canopy. I should have fixed it prior to paint. As it was, I made an error and paited the lower glass panels and broke the rear section. I did get it in place, but it looks horrible. I plan on replacing it with an aftermarket one. AnyHugh, I should get back on track and get the decals on White 11+o and have her finished up soon. Looking forward to seeing the 1/700 destroyer progress.

Thanks Jason, the spinner decal went on pretty straight forward, used Micro-set to get it into postion then Micro-sol to get it to lay flat and take care of any tiny wrinkles. I overshot the center by < .5 mm and had to trim with paint.

Hey Huxy, Thanks. I should clobber all my aircraft with a book!Wink [;)] That is a very interesting article on the HNoMS Svener. Strange fate indeed.
