Regia Aeronautica GB II (06/15/09 to 06/15/10)

Yey gang, i loves yall. Do you wanna hear another naughty we used to do? Well? Do you? LOL.

Theres a place over here called wareham and theres a long road (Not long by US standards) about 4miles straightish to another place called Wool. Near wool theres a speed camera (Fixed) What we used to do for giggles is try to go the fastest through the speed camera on our bikes. With No. plates removed or covered, obviously. I took my Honda fireblade through there at around 160mph. Im bad, i know and i flog myself regularly for it. Ill bet the guys who look at the pics had a laugh though. Its only a normal 'B' road not a dual carriageway.

My modelling has been put on (I hope) temporary hold. The GF is driving me nuts about trying to move house and i think the best way to keep her happy and me sane is to pack all my modelling gear and Unmade kits. Most is all boxed now, including my stringbag for the FAA gb. Im feeling pretty gutted but its either this or kill her...It was definately a tricky decision. LOL.

Guy just post pics like that in our GB's from now on. That way you wo'nt have to listen to all the wankers lecture you about why you are not suppose to do that because it sets a bad example. Tell them all to bugger off and get a life and stop worrying about what other people are doing. Yes I will drive 125 MPH in my BMW if I want to also!

Seems you are a little tough on your toys there Guy. I never free rev any of my engines. As you have already found out it is a recipe for disater. Pushrod engines have a tendency to "float" the valves when there is no load on the engine and makes for a nastly meeting of the valve with the piston. I've taken of some heads and found the end of the valve punched right through the top of the piston and snapped of at the stem! Specificly the Mitsubishi 2.0L turbo's. 0 valve clerance come at a hefty price.

Im surprised that those tracky things only had 600hp. I dont know why but i thought they had shed loads more.

Crusher, as for abusing the lovely things, I lunched the motor on the monster. Those big Italian twins dont like prolonged wheelies. It cost roughly £1000 to repair. Dint do it myself. I should have but had nowhere to do it. I was quite lucky with accidents. I had a fireblade that i dropped and trashed the fairings on both sides, messing about again. This time i was surfing the thing....oh and i lunched the engine on a TL1000 i had, wheelying again. The Suzuki was more expensive to repair than the Ducati.

Probably why i was always skint LOL.

Guy thats an awfull expensive bike to be playing with it like that is'nt it. I would hate to have to pay to fix that one if you dumped it on its side. Looks like you are having a little fun there.

Aaron those are some cool power plants. It would be cool to work on those big turbo diesels. The best part is always the test drive is'nt it? Thats why when I worked a Dodge I agreed to be trained to work on the Vipers just so I had an excuse to test drive them all whe I was done working on them. The only car I've ever driven that you could start in 4th gear and the car would not buck or jerk when you let the clutch out it would just go! I see now why none of us build model cars. We all have the real things and have no need for plastic replicas! Really cool stuff everyone!

 Dave  I think we have said before that us real men drive mini-vans! Nothing screams single, wealthy, available playboy more than cruisin for chicks in a mini-van!  According to my son...

Dee has her Miata  which is about as sporty a convertable as I have driven, but I feel like a Ken doll in a Barbie car.   Especially with the Hello Kitty seat covers! Nothing like riding a bar of soap left in the bottom of the shower floor at 140 MPH!

 Need a new throw out bearing in the Miata which means might as well replace the pressure plate extc.  Always something isn't it!

Crusher, that is stunning. To my eye, one of the best builds of the GB. The camo is awesome along with the white striped nose and the grey wing root. Just perfect. Are you 100% certain that she had an aerial wire? I thought the shorter aerials didnt? But hey what do i know. Id do some checking but most of my books have been boxed up.

You guys in the states are just soo lucky. So much space to enjoy and so many fantastic cars and bikes. Dave im sure your mini van has more horsepower than my geri's Vauxhall corsa and is more of a laugh to drive. My Jag is litterally a fair weather wagon. Fuel being so expensive over here, and me not being Rothschild. I was a biker for years, having owned more of them than cars, but my daily driver at the mo is this bad boy,

The last bigger bike i had was this beauty, a Ducati Monster 900. I posted this pic a while back on the forum and i got slated by a few ppl. Are you all traffic cops in the states? Thats what it felt like LOL.

Love the traily Frank. Ive owned a few. (When i was younger and more bendable) I had a Husky 250 and a 490 and a DR400. Green laning was my thing for a few years.

Anyhoo, what a fantastic sidetrack.

On the 944 - I never worked on it, they had shops in Vegas that specialized on those things.. I hate to tell you but the Camaro is as Lime Green as it comes not yellow - sorry

Dave - A Mini Van   Oh well , Least you have a Really Cool Mtn Bike.. The wife and I did a 25 mile ride today to whip ourselfs back into shape. I drank all 100 oz of water out of my camelback.... I am only saddle sore, my wife said her thighs and calves are speaking to her. (translate into me getting the evil eye)  Great ride though and perfect weather...

Okay, I don't have a garage.  I drive the family mini-van to work and the wife drives a Nissan Versa.  Pretty basic and gutless transportation.  So for kicks and thrill rides I have to rely on this...

Sean that first pic of the truck is cool. I was never a fan of the 944. I worked on a couple and drove them. I was not impressed at all. it reminded me of driving a VW Jetta from that era. Now that Camaro is sweet and in one of my favorite colors yellow. I wonder how many other of our fellow builders are mechanics our have a sweet ride in the garage.

Ok boys here she is. The only thing that is not done is the antenna wire. I have to find someway to make up some thing that looks like a spring on the tail end of the wire. I want to let the mast dry so it does not move when I'm fiddling around with the wire, Here are a bunch of pics.

Thats a sweet ride Mobious! I have owned over the years a 69 Camaro an 82 Z-28 2 84 Z-28's one of them I shoehorned a 454 bigblock in. A brand new 88 Z-28 and the 91 rally Sport I own now. Something about them I have always loved. My dad also has a small collection of cars. He has a 67 Corvette 55 Chevy Convertable and a custom 36 Ford Cabriolet converable. I get to repair them and drive them alot. The 67 Corvette is my favorite.

 Hey Soulcrusher, I had no idea you were a Mech. I work on the HD stuff, mostly Concrete mixers, Hydraulic, Air, and Electrical type stuff. Bought this one several years ago a 30th anniversary. I had an '82 Z and an '86 IROC. Both were a blast to drive but the old 82 IMO didn't have enough HP's. 

 The C10 in the background is a WIP, Hehe. Be starting on that right after we finish up the Fox body Mustang. Have to have room to work ya know and a few extra bucks for the air ride.

Well Guy it looks like you are not only a fine model builder but you have good taste in automobiles also. I ordered the 330 from my local BMW dealer back in Oct of 04 and I had to wait 6 weeks for the boys over in Bavaria to build her and get it shipped over to here. I'll be saying goodbye to her in Oct this year as the warranty will have expired and I am not interested in paying huge amounts of money if something does go wrong. I will not be replacing it most likely because of the times. It really was a waste of money as it is only showing just over 14,000 miles in 5 years because I just really never drove it much. I am doing alot more saving than I use to because of the economy. I typically drive my Subaru Legacy just about everywhere I go anyway. I still have some good old American Iron sitting in the driveway.

You probally do'nt see many of these over on your side of the pond. It is a 91 Camaro Rally Sport. She has a 5.0 litre V-8 engine backed up by a 5 speed manual gearbox. it is 100% original with the exception of the high rise fiberglass hood. I picked it up about 5 years ago for $2000 dollars and the only repair I have had to do was replace a leaky water pump and change the oil and filter. She is a total blast to drive and handles like a race car. I also installed a nice sound system so I can blast my music as I am enjoying the ride.

I'm waiting for the gray paint to dry on the wing fillet for the 202 then I'm back to the bench to start adding all of the fiddly bits. Pics tonight!

Hopefully the Jag will be a goodun. I have reciepts similar to the dept of a small country, with it. It is an eco friendly model, only 4.0ltrs and its only a small supercharger.

Wow Guy she is a looker! I rented one of those a couple of years ago when I went back to Florida for a bit. A nice looking car but they still scare me a bit when it comes to putting a spanner to one. The one I rented even though it was relativly new had several little annoying bugs in it. The transmission would constantly hang up in third gear and refuse to upshift on its own. The air conditioning would take about five minutes before it would start to blow cold. I still enjoyed driving it though.  Now Italian cars are a whole other subject. They are no longer any Italian made cars sold here in the States besides Ferrari. Do you know what the letters in Fiat stand for? Fix It Agian Tony or Finer Italian Attempting Transportation! My preference is for automobiles manufactored by the Bavarian Motor Works. Specifiecly a 2005 330 convertible with the high performance engine package. With variable valve timing this baby screams down the road and will cruise at 120 MPH all day long.

I though drinking warm beer sounded a little off. Having drank my fair share of beer in my younger days I definetly know how bad it tastes when it is warm. I just could not see how anyone could enjoy that taste. Give me a Black and Tan anyday! I think over on this side of the pond it is just a way for us mechanic types to grip about how horrible te old Jaguar's electronics were. Add that with the myth about the warm beer and it makes sense to  us over here!

I think I know where my next vacation is going to be! Bournesmouth look out her I come! I would love to drive that beastie. I have driven just about everything that has a steering wheel from Dodge Vipers to medium trucks [lorrie] except for a really big bus. I work on alot of trucks and some of the smaller buses which means I need to drive them afterward to ensure the repairs were done properly.Is there a point system in place for takeing out drivers that do not yield the right of way or is it based on the value of the vehicle?

Well back to modeling. I let everything dry all day yesterday as it was a bit damp. Today I am going to mask of the wing root and lay down some gray. Then I was to start adding the fiddly bits like the exhaust and landing gear. I should have some more pics up tonight.

LOL, its one of those urban myths. If someone ever served me a warm beer there would be trouble. I think it stems back from the days when beer was pumped by hand?

As for coming over and having a go in the bus. Knock yourself out. The thrill of driving the thing is starting to wear a little thin but id be glad to let the Coffin dodgers give you an earfull and not me.

Thank you Mucker and Dave for the kind words. I appreciate it. I'm still getting use to the overall dark camo colors. When I get the wingroot sprayed in gray it will probally look better I think.

Frank I managed to grab the 1/48 Hasegawa G-4 kit with then Regia Aeronautica markings. I hesitated a bit knowing the resin colw does not fit that good but knowing ahead of time means when I decide to build it I will spend alot of time with the resin insert to get a good fit.

It wasnt my bus im afraid. Our suckers are painted Bright yellow. Seems ironic that theyre the brightest and biggest things in our area and people still dont seem to see us till the last minute. Had a cracker the other day, theres a narrow quaint bridge on one of my routes and generally you wait if you see a bus coming over it (Obvious to most LOL). This guy in soimething big and flash, came towards the bridge, oblivious to the 17 tonnes monster crossing, as he squeezed as far left as he could, at speed still, i heard his lovely alloys scraping down the kerb all over the bridge. What a shame. LOL. Heres our busses website. I dont think im on it though, thank God.
