Ok, will you allow a Slave 1 (Star Wars) as a crossover from the SW GB? Empire was in the 80's, so I think it qualifies. What rocks about the 80's? Star Wars! And, the thought that comes to my mind when I think of Doog's 3' hairdoo...

If I can find the right kit to get me going in the direction I want, I am like so totally in dude!  After scopin' out the other posts I'm like, dude, I so totally can't believe NOBODY mentioned the "Back To The Future" DeLorean....BOGUS!  That car is most triumphant!  Excellent!   LOL.

So, there ya have it, that's my idea.  What I like about the 80's...Well, I like the music for one...all of it, pop, hair metal, alternative...etc.  Chicks with big hair!  HA!

Deeve - I did not find animal chin, but is was fun trying.

Doe's anyone know what type of F-16 and squadron was flown in the movie Iron Eagle?  I was thinking about building that for our group build.

Painklr - Bone brigade videos hahaha. Did you search for the animal Chin? I remember those days. Nothing I wanted more than a Vision Gator board. Up until a couple of years ago, I had copies of transworld skateboarding and Thrasher from 1989-1991 stored at my mom's place. Then my sister took them to show her friends who are skaters. They all got a good laugh about the totally rad tricks they were doing back then :)

Stikpusher - The movie came out in 1977. But it really was an 80's thing, kinda like star wars. I remember seeing it on TV more times than you can count during the 80's. All I ever wanted in the 80's was a black Firebird with the logo on the hood :)

The truth is, Either KITT or the SaTB firebird could be used.

Funny thing, I remember when they changed the body on the camero/firebird. I was so dissapointed cause I liked the old style :) I think it was changed in 82 o 83.

Hmmm... Sounds interesting... I might join this one, but don't hold me to it. I have a ton of other GB's to wrap up, and I have to check my kit stash. Great idea though! (Only, for me, the 80's were years that have little significance for me, I'm 15!) Big Smile [:D] Put me down as a "maybe" Thanks!

Deeve everything there does scream 80s indeed...except the Firebird... KITT would be more appropriate... Old Burt drove the one you have there in the 70s... '77 I think it was to be exact... The Camaro body changed in the early 80s.

WHAT!!!  I have to join this GB.  I LOVE THE 80's...

What I love about the 80's are:

The Music - I still jam out to my favorite 80's bands. (Depeche Mode, Cure, Erasure, New Order)

The clothes - Parachute pants, converse and T-shirts.

Cartoons: G I Joe, Transformers, Speed Racer, He-man, Go-bots, Thundercats, Robotech, Voltron (both series).

Toys: G I Joe, Transformers, Voltron, STAR WARS!!!!!!

Breakdancing - I am 33 years old and working on busting a headspin at my wedding.

Movies - Star Wars Trilogy,Top gun, Rambo, Breakin 1 and 2 - Need I say more

Models: This is the period I started to build models by joining the Model Builders Club. (They would send me two models a month)

Skateboarding: I pop in my bones brigade videos and watch my videos while I am building my models.

Man, this brings back memories.  Now I got to figure out what I am going to build.  I will get back to you on that.

OK, I just whipped up a little GB badge.

I can fine tune it some more, add some shadowing, but I am worried about the detail being too much.

I included the Van Halen 5150 background. (rockin 80's!)

the Metallica font! (RAWK!)

Thundercats font! (rawwr)

another couple of 80's looking fonts.

a Robotech SDF1 (way 80's), a Chevette (nothin screams 80's like a chevette) a Top Gun F14 (Tom Cruise epitomized the 80s) and last but not least, a Smoky and the Bandit Firebird (the only car that screams 80's more than a chevette).

Feel free to use it :)

Good going on the 4th, you're one braver than I am.

Are we going to have a badge for this GB ? There are so many good options.

Cheers

Thanks, guys!

I'm making some progress on the T-Bird despite a general lack of sleep. :-) I'm partway through assembling the chassy, and wheels will be going together soon.

You are right, they were Hot looking cars. Closest thing to the GTO for those who could not afford or find them. For some reason my mind read Le Mans Station Wagon - boo

A buddy of mine put a Pinto on a Bronco chassis. It had a access panel inside like a van has so he could change the spark plugs.

And hey, no laughing, my Le Mans was awesome!

BTW, my Dad took a Gremlin and put it on a Bronco chassis once. A 4X4 Gremlin was a real head-turner! He did the same thing with an El Camino that's still being driven today.

cdclukey, put me down for a Revell '69 Nova.

I may also do a '86 Charger or an '87 Grand National later in the year.

I am in if I can build a 1/100 scale VF1S From Macross.

It is an original 1984 release.

I bought this when I was 14 or 15 for 99 cents. I bought a bunch of every one of them. Built most of them when I was 15, then sold almost all of them when I was 29. boo. I should have kept them cause they are worth way more now :)

Now if I can build a kit of what the "Cars" we drove during the 80's looked like even if they are older ( like the 69 Nova)  Im in for this.  - Air shocks, Hood scoops, White letter BFG tires, slotted mags or Crager 5 spokes - Yee Haw Cowboy [C):-)]

Don't feel bad. I was driving a Gremlin.  Dead [xx(]  It couldn't spin the tires if I soaked them in used motor oil, but it had a mean flea market Pyramid stereo with a big power booster under the dash. Twisted Sister actually sounded better with all that distortion.

I think I'll go with the the '69 Nova. I remember them being more affordable and the more likely candidate for a minimum wage 7/11 parking lot & street cruiser.

Dmk--

That would definitely fall under "marked as it appeared during the Eighties." You're talking about the kind of car I envied when I was driving around a two tone (white and Bondo) Volare station wagon and raced off the line when I upgraded to a Le Mans. :-)

Sounds great to me; let me know when you've got your kit picked out.

I'll play along with this GB. Not sure which kit I should do though.

One I've wanted to for a while, is a 60's muscle car (I'm thinking a '69 Chevelle or a '69 Nova) in faded black primer, with some ugy seat covers, big tires on the back, ladder bars, a small block chevy and header mufflers or glasspacks. Basically a typical car we all had or saw in high school in the 80s.

Would this be appropriate for this GB?

Tell you what, because it's Benetton and Benetton is so Eighties, we'll bump the completion percentage up to 50% and call yours good. Welcome aboard!

Hi,

I have a Bennetton B188 Formula One car from 1988.  It's the one with the tricky four color paint scheme. However it's probably about 50% to 60% completed. I'll ask you to make the call on whether it should be included here, or not.

I probably have too many other GB commitments to offer anything else for the time being.

Cheers

Tony
