Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress. I have some time in the bank next week, should finish the M1 (hopeful).

I'm resuming work on my F-16. I'm now bashing the drop tanks to look like a tactical nuke/cruise missle.

I actually shot my M1 with a gloss coat this past weekend, markings and weathering to follow. Not sure how I'm going to go yet, but something with a twist, I think.

Axel, it's been an interesting GB, if a little slow......

I've decided i don't like it enough to submit it but may do so alongside the patton (which is coming along well) youll understand when if I put it up (it's pretty bad).

A little work completed last night, and it's taking close to its final form. I decided to stay with two colors only and started weathering. A wash of raw umber (or burnt sienna?) followed by some wear on the second color. Tracks are painted and installed, as are the side skirts. Detail painting, stowage and dirt to follow. This thing will probably go on a base of some sort, maybe in front of a McDonalds' sign......

Thanks for checking in, comments appreciated and welcomed.

I tried silly putty as a mask for camo and have a second color on, debating whether or not to use a third color.....soon as I get the camera back I'll get some pics up. Getting closer.....

Here we go....

The skirts are done to match the hull, while the turret is not, to give the impression of a workshop rebuild or "frankentank".

Well, assembly is pretty much done, and a first color coat on. Sticking with the green so far, not sure on what I may add to it. The 'dozer blade came out OK, but I can see why I haven't seen pics of M1s with blades: when the blade is up, the driver's view is totally blocked. Hmmm....

I'm going for a "workshop modded" IPM1 with the 120mm gun, hence the OD paint on the turret front. I added about 3/8" of laminated plastic card there to represent the added armor, and used OD green instead of the darker forest green on the rest of the tank. The side skirts are OD green as well, but I'll probably re-spray those darker, or maybe a variety of colors, like sand, OD and dark green, just to get a "cobbled-together" look. That's also why I'm staying with the older tracks.

Still plonking along......

I'm leaning towards a solid forest green like the first M1s came in, since what I'm building will look like a "retrofitted" IPM1 anyway. I may add one color, not sure yet.

I actually got a couple hours at the bench in last night, but the camera's on the fritz so no pics.....Grumpy [|(]

I added three layers on .080 card on the front of the turret armor so it at least looks like an -A1 and got as far as the side bins and baskets before I got too tired and shaky to continue. We need a camera for the shop as well so I should be back in business next week.

Still no good ideas for paint, but a couple to consider.

Quite awesome, I think Ill join in!

I love builds like this, leaves so many openings for kit types.  I'm going to build a Wave Ma.k kit, a AFS C.D. Type Polar Bear

I'm fitting it In to the groupbuild this way.  I figure that a 3rd world war is going to be a nuclear one, so Im building this a combat suit for radiated areas.  I'm going to specificly build it as a Canadian Medic unit.

I got a little done this weekend, in between the steps on a KV I'm doing for another GB....

I really didn't like the warp on the Trump upper hull, so I took it off and fitted the kit part. Guess what: warped. So a little .050 sheet styrene and no warp. I assembled the turret and mantlet and did the anti-slip with MrSurfacer 500. I really wanted something else for the main gun because the kit part is more like a carictature of the real thing but nothing was looking good.

So far:

I have started painting on my BMD. Here are a couple shots to show how it is looking so far.

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

So there I was, deep into the "man-room", waiting for paint to dry, and I thought: "Why not start my M1?". Nothing motivates me like having the lower hull started, so off I went. The Acad kit builds up this far in a few minutes, so no biggie there....the upper hull was hugely plain, and soft in detail, so I pulled a Trump upper hull out of the parts bin and checked it for fit. Glue followed, and all I need is one weld seam. The Trump hull had a bit of warp to it, so some bracing inside is next. I also checked fit on an Acad M9 dozer kit, and it's close enough to work with very little mod. I'll probably end up with something that looks like an M1IP with a 120mm gun. Details to follow......

Nice and simple so far. Big Smile [:D]

This is going to be a fun one.......

Thinking late last night (always a recipe for trouble) that WW3 would almost certainly involve the Middle East........hmmm.....
