total american patriot: I posted this GB "How to" quite a while back and it was well received by the group and it seems to be the "standard procedure".  I hope it helps.  BTW: I may be interested in joining with a M26 Pershing, so here you go:

Guys:  I am taking the initiative to set up some Group Build procedures as they relate to us armor guys.   My goal is to assist anyone who has a GB idea, has considered hosting a GB and for those of us who already have. These are based on what has worked for me, but of course, as always, chime in at will. For sake of clarity I will use my Big Cats GB as an example of wording...so here goes:

1) Post what we will call the "probe thread" here in armor. i.e.-"Big Cats GB anyone?".

2) Let it run its typical course: questions, qualifying builds, start/finish dates, etc...

3) Once the host decides/determines it's a go, he should wrap up the probe thread and announce that it will be moving to Group Builds.  i.e.-"with all the interest in "Big Cats" I will be starting a new thread in GB's, please go over there and sign in"

4)  Knock yourself out with how to set-up the thread in GB's.  I used dupes' Winter Warriors GB as a guide, espins1 has a great set-up for more in-depth GB's...go check them out for more info.

5)  Build and get the Badge

6)  After the host assembles all the final builds pics', he should start a new thread, BACK HERE IN ARMOR, with all those builds...again, see what dupes just did for Winter Warriors. i.e.-"Big Cats GB-Gallery of Builds.  It's up to the moderator to decide to show only the badge builds, or all efforts.

This procedure will let us know about all the armor GB's and alleviate the heavy posting during the "busy" GB times.  If you care to find other GB's, you'll need to go over there periodically.  By posting the final builds back here in armor we'll get to see what our comrades have done in a gallery format.

What about Easy 8 Shermans used in Korea?  Would that meet your requirements for post war tanks?

I'd be in either way. I have Tamiya's M26 unstarted, but I have started the Friuls. I also have Tamiya's old M41 under way, hull and running gear started. How about partially started kits? I could use some motivation to get going on the M41.

Maybe "Patton Mania"?  Anything from the M26 to the M60, any user or derivative?

Would it be easier if I set up my own GB for post-war American tanks?

A list would include, if I'm not mistaken:

M46/M47/M48/M60 Patton

M26 Pershing

M41 Walker Bulldog

M551 Sheridan

M103 Heavy tank

Basically, American tanks built, and in service, from 1946 to 1976

I second that!  Pershings saw limited service at the tail end of WWII and were being phased out midway through Korea.  Adding the rest of the Post War/Cold War American armor including foreign service would be a winner.  I'm in for that one.

I agree, post war petrol or Diesel American tanks (i.e. excluding Abrams, which is gas turbine) would be a good GB.  Allow American post-war tanks also used by other nations, such as Israeli, Jordanian, etc and you have the making of a very interesting GB - If so, I'll be in!

Good idea and good pointers by Aaron. Maybe focus on late war non-Sherman American tank? Or American tanks (non-Sherman) from Middle 40s to early 60s? (ie before the Abrams).

It is pretty easy, I'd start by making a post in the Armor section to see if there is any interest. You really want at least 5 or 6 participants right up front for a successful GB. If you find enough interested parties you can look at other GBs for a format / rules you like as well as getting input from prospective participants.

I don't know what kind of interest the M26 would generate, if there doesn't seem to be enough interest in a pure M26 GB you might consider including the Pershings offspring M46, M47, M48 & M60 or a late WW2 tanks GB (IS2, Comet, Centurian, M26, King Tiger etc).
