I calling this one done.  It was a nice little kit, but had a couple of things bite me in the butt.  You need to watch the angle of the rear landing gear, otherwise it'll sit on its tails.  The other thing was I lost a couple of decals after they were applied and hit with Solvaset, and misread the instructions and put the nation insignias on backwards.  Other than those two things, I have no other complaints about the kit.  Here's the pics.

Nice to be in on this side too - an unusual subject pays off! I've been too busy to do much to it this week anyway, I'll have progress to share over the weekend I'm sure. Talk to you  later,

Hey Aggieman, me taking my sweet old time over Christmas may have allowed me to stumble into this GB! I've signed myself up for the Winter Warriors 2 GB that Dupes started. I'm committed to the Tamiya 1/48 Storch (same as you I think?) with a winter camo scheme on it. I've cracked the box open & done two quick sessions - painting the engine & priming some cockpit details. Am I too far along to join in on your Eye in the Sky GB? I'd love to go 2-for-1 on this kit!

Here she is, fresh out of the paint shop and decalled.  I used the new Tamiya light ghost gray spray can.  It looks a little too blue to my eyes, but is close to several of the predator pics I saw.  The decals release from the backing paper pretty quickly, I had several separate from the paper before I pulled them out of the water.  My only complaints about the decals are that one of the WA's was slightyly out register and that they have a glossy finish to them.  Hope to have her landing gear painted and up on the sticks later today or tomorrow.  Now for the pics.  Hope ya'll enjoy.

John,

Nice work on the E-1.

Darson,

It builds up pretty nice for such a simple kit.  Platz is supposed to be coming out with a Global Hawk, can't wait.  Primered mine today, will hit it with some light ghost gray in the morning.  Might be ready for decals tomorrow evening or Wednesday.

I thought I might try and be original by jumping in to this build with an MQ-1A Predator but no such luck with lewbud & rufioizgreat already well under way.

Anyhow not to worry, mine is the Platz version of the kit in 1/72 and from looking at the sprue layout it's identical to the Acc Mins kit.

Nice detail for a very small kit

The low parts count should make for a quick (I hope) build.

Nice thing is the decal sheet which has enough serials to allow for just about any Predator in the inventory.

The two Predators rufioizgreat and Lewbud are working on are looking great , well done guy's Yes

I've made a little more progress on the Mach 2 E-1B Tracer

The cockpit sat snuggly in place , I thought it would be easier to fit and glue the engine nacelles/landing gear to the underside of the wings first and the overall fit wasn't to bad .

The clear parts came up okay , after dipping them into some 'Pledge-one-go' [Future] ;

I have also airbrushed the leading edges of the wings , tail fins and radome flat black .

I've dry fit test the two fuselage halves and the wings into the fuselage together and everything seams to fit without any problems , so everything is progressing along nicely

Since it's too cold to paint, I decided to start on the Predator.  It looks to be a fairly simple kit, so hopefully it'll go together quick.  The front fuselage went together great with no seam.  The rear however is another story, fortunately it's on the bottom so it's not that noticeable.  The seams where the wings meet the fuselage are acceptable to me.  The only construction problem I've created is where the MEK brush and a finger got together a couple of times and left partial prints.  Here's where I am as of today.

Well since I just finished a F-6A, F-6B/C and have a nearly finished F-6D, sign me up for a 1/48 Tamiya PR Mk. IV Mosquito.  Going to paint it in the PRU Blue scheme.  Though I won't be able to start it for a couple of months, got 4 others in the works that are about 90% done.

got started on the predator.

i drilled a couple holes with a pin vise to show the 3 correct lenses on the eyeball. the kit part just shows one really big one.

i used gap filling super glue for the cracks, im not very experienced at all with putty and even more unexperienced in 1/72. this model makes me miss my 1/35!

i also bent the pitot tube so i will have to scratch another one.

I like the Group Build Badge ; Nice work Yes ; Especially the pulsating flames coming out of the SR-71 Blackbird .

I've decided to start on the Mach 2 E-1B Tracer first , so I opened the plastic bag to check out the kit .

Typical of most Mach 2 kits is the little lugs on the inside of most parts which i'll have to file down , I will dip the canopy halves in some Future to try and get it to look a little more clear .

Hopfully this afternoon i'll get some interior grey airbrushed on the inside of the fuselage halves and some white on the engine nacelle's and landing gear struts .

I think most of the work will be cleaning up each part and dry fitting , other than that it should be a straight forward build , [I hope] .

Well you might need to drop me from the list as I am going to be relocating back home soon and getting back online will be a low priority. Plus the fact I still dont have any kind of camera yet to take pictures with.

So I hopfully will see you all soon.

Hey guys, I have my model for this one now. After thinking about it for a while, I thought a Vigilante would be fun, and lucky enough the Hobby store had one. Although I prefer 1/48 scale, I realize it would be huge in that scale, so 1/72 is fine. The cockpit alone is made up of 32 individual pieces! I'm going to be working on this one for a while. Probably start after Cmas sometime.

I would like in as well, but I don't know what yet. I will have to take a trip to the hobby store when my SU25 is closer to being done, to see what catches my eye.

Well as I originally indicated in your original post guaging intrest I siad I'd like to do a E13A Jake, well I tracked one down today, wohoo!Approve [^] Bummer thats its only 1/144 scale but hey thats life.

So please put me down for a "Minicraft Model Kits 1/144 Aichi E13A Jake".  I'm about 99% sure I'll do it in french markings (1945-47) just the novelty.

Yup. I built the cockpit (replaced the seats with some True Details bang seats) and am scrounging bits to make something to go behind all thsoe windows in the nose. And just glued the drop tanks together. Notihing else will happen until this GB kicks off. I have some nice Superscale Vietnam markings for her.

What is it that you've already worked on or completed?  Cockpit?  Put it on the back burner for the next couple of months and you're in.  Just the kind of build we need in this GB.

Hi,

I am recently back into model building and think this is a great forum. I have not done a GB before, but I think I understand the process. I just got a 1/32 Revell Westland Lysander and would like to do it up as one flown by the 161st "Moon" Squadron. I have not started the kit, and will not until Jan if approved. Do I have permission to join this GB?

Regards,

Stenscience
