Hehehe... I like the way you think! Consider it done.
Clebode- aboard! I have added your build to page one. As Bish stated, all GB's are a bit different but the ones I run generally are very forgiving. All you have to do is ask to join, build a relevant model, post photos, and HAVE FUN! That's about it. Some of the most talented builders I have ever seen are here with us, so I guarantee this will be a good one. Looking forward to seeing your photos, as that big TA is one would like to add to my stash someday.
Frank
Each GB varies, but in most cases, as in this one, you can join after it has started. The rules for each GB can alos vary, and are usually posted in the first one or two posts. I think in this case, you copy and paiste the GB badge and host it yourself.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
I am interested in joining in for my first GB. I would build the PCM Ta 152H-1 1:32. Can I still join? If yes, how do you access the badge? Thereafter, I assume you post like a WIP and some sort of review occurs at the end of the GB. I would appreciate someone filling me in on the details for GBs. This looks like a lot of fun.

Jules-the Eduard kit is the way to go by the time you count the costs of the PE & masks. Looking forward to your build-I'm going to save mine for a time when I can devote more attention to it. I need something quick & easy right now......I'm going to go with the Hasegawa F8-having built their A3 before, it's not a complex build. Not sure when I'll get started-I've got two Spitfires in the queue....interiors painted and that's it.

THIS GROUP BUILD IS A GO!!!
As the time in Australia is now about midnight, it is officially May 1st! Gentlemen, let the build begin!
Suppression, yeah i would do the same...It would be novel to see but i wouldn't do it myself....
Bob, hey buddy how you doin? Mate the Eduard kit at my LHS isn't a weekend edition, it's the A-5 to A-8 i think and it's $20 more than the Tamiya A kit so i'll grab it next time i go in... If i did the Tamiya kit i'd end up ordering a zoom set and decals so i'll save money as well, i like one of the schemes for the Eduard kit to, horizontal black and white stripes on the engine cowl....
Julez72,
Yes it is a interesting idea that would utilize some of the extra ordinance. I will stick to the 'liberated' theme and did consider showing the aircraft mid allied painting. Most likely will show the aircraft shortly after the new paint, with the new owner and possibly another figure or two.
Thats a good idea SP,would make a nice display and would for the lack of a better word force the veiwer into taking 9 second looks....
You know what would be cool, get yourself one of those rotating platforms do one side with Canadian markings and the other with luftwaffe markings hang the ordanance on the German side and put your plates in........just a thought...
Julez72 But i never said i would stop buying from the LHS and i figure that the Eduard 190 A-5 has all the goodies in it that i would normally order from Squadron. Suppression, Nice kit...Sooo does it come with colored PE, canopy masks ect???

Jules-assuming that you are looking at the standard kit (not the Weekend Edition), it comes with all the goodies-masks, colored PE, good decal options and a great detailed engine that will never be seen once the cowling is attached.
I have the kit in my stash but I'm waiting until I have a great deal of time to devote to it.
Yes the Edward kit comes with colored PE, canopy masks and enough ground attack ordinance for a squadron! Also it includes 4 canopies! 2 windscreens and decals for 5 aircraft! Fans of 1/48 scale Fw-190 F-8 would appreciate all the extra goodies packed into this box. I was going to wash the sprue frames and remove everything I will not be using, that way the project will look faster to assemble.
Had a idea for the display, on one side have a plate describing how the aircraft fell into Canadian ownership, and the other side a description of its roll in the Luftwaffe, with all the under wing ordinance lined up on display. Kind of a 2 in 1 display!
Frank, whichever one you choose it will be a winner!
STFD637 2 more days! Looking forward to this group build! Travis/STFD637

Only one more day! This is gonna be good, I can feel it already! Trying to decide between an early war A-3 and a late war A-8. Might end up flipping a coin in the end!
dupes Julez72: ... and i promised to stop buying from Squadron this year ..... Is that possible? If you figure out a way to do it, let me know what it is. I seem to be unable to resist.

"If a lie is told often, and long enough, it becomes reality!"
Heh fellas!
Just received a box from Squadron, inside is my FW-190 F-8 kit from Edward in 1/48 scale.
Looking through the box it is a shame I will only be using aprox. 1/2 the parts as my version was not armed. The kits includes all arrays of ground attack ordinance from bombs, cannons and Panzershrek rockets. Most of the PE is for the delicate fins and supports on the bombs. Guess the 'spares' bin will be full of Luftwaffe aircraft ordinance. Oh well, sticking to my plan to model the unit captured in May 1945.
Will take a while to get under way, with summer soon here and all!
Yeah Nomad, i read alot of the confusion stems from the production practices of late war with many companys building different parts with different colours at different locations before being put together.....That shows how effective the bombing campaign was i guess....
Frank, so Hans Assi Hahns 109 had a yellow nose and not a red one eh, OOPS, did that one 5 years ago...
Frank I never realized how much of a grey area there is on what color these planes actualy are. I have made up my mind and I will model a Ta-152 H-1 of Oberfeldwebel Walter Loos Green 4 JG/301. This guy was a good pilot he started flying in Jan 1944, he only flew 66 mission and scored 38 confirmed victories and 8 unconfirmed. Not bad if he started out a few years earlier he might have been very dangerous. This plane I will paint RLM 76, 81.82 on the fuse. wings will be 81,82
Thanks guys, for your input and invaluable advice It looks like the RLM23 cowl band is a no go....My LHS has no F-8's anyways and i promised to stop buying from Squadron this year so it looks like Eduards 1/48 A series for me.....
Lovin the builds, first class work i'm certainly buildin with the pro's here....
Green "9" JG 301 April 1945.
I cant do both forums so if you guys wanna see my 1/24 D-9 its gonna be in the aircraft forum ,I will post here when I have new pix there ....................
Thank you ,Krow113
Looking forward to seeing all the progress out of the gates!!!!!!
Mike and Mo- Great seeing both of those JG5 birds, thinking of building one of those myself here!
nomad- According to my references (Luftwaffe Camouflage and Markings 1933-1945 by K.A. Merrick), the "standard" camouflage for the TA-152 was RLM 81 and RLM 82 splintered over RLM 76 for top surfaces, with natural metal on the lower surfaces, though RLM 76 was applied to wooden parts on the lower surfaces. That being said, actual colors could vary wildly depending on paint supply and wartime production procedures. The red and yellow RD bands were indeed JG301 aircraft. Sorry, not sure if I helped or made it worse! Hopefully someone else has some more info on this exact machine.
Andrew- Thanks buddy! It's all of you guys who build here that make these GB's so much fun. A lot of talent here, can't wait until Saturday to get started! Just have to decide yet which kit to build, though I am leaning towards a TA-152 myself as I have never built one.
Man Frank you have the coolest GBs I am tempted to look for more FW-190s at the model contest.
Andrew
Ilove to see all of your finished 190s lots of talent in this build. I was doing my research on the TA 152H-1 and need some advice. My decals are for Green 3 they dont tell me what unit the plane is from it has a red and yellow tailband. I would assume it is JG/301. My next question most of the 152s I have seen built on the internet have RLM 82,83 on the wings my instructions have RLM 75,82 on wings. What would be the most likely combo ?
Thanks, i will have a look thnrough that. I have a number of problems with the decals i have. The first letter after the cross, in the case a Blue A, is the wrong colour for the position Rudel held at the time. Second, it's a B-2 from 1943, and i am certain he would be flying a newer type by then. The only thing i can think of is that this might be a second aircraft he might have used. There is one photo which claims to show it, but it has wing tanks which makes it an R-2 not a B-2.
I also have superscale markings for rudels G-2 and 190D-9 which are spot on, so in the end i might just trust them and go with it. Somtimes i just wish i wasn't so interested in german aircraft. They make things so bloody difficult. And as you say, B&W photos don't help.
Bish -- it's always tricky, but the info on which the companies based their products must be out there somewhere, and therefore checkable. The fact that the orthochronic film destorts some colours away from what we would expect in B&W is a chief concern, and probably the only major spur that would coax me to doublecheck the accuracy of a product, especially an older one.
Where to go? Good question, if the usual search terms are not turning up any joy. Here's the Photo section of the Bundesarchiv:
http://www.bild.bundesarchiv.de/
There is also a "German Luftwaffe" website with some of its pages available in English, but I can't lay my hands on that link at this time.
Good luck, Mike/TB379

Mike Where you you look online to check on how accurate decals are. I have a set of superscale decals which includes Rudels Ju-87B-2, but i am very dubious about them. I have looked through endless books and checked site useing Rudel as my search basis but haven't been able to find any sites that help.
