Yellow 9 finished.
I never thought the day would come! There are a few errors in the build but overall a great learning experience so thanks to everyone who answered my many questions along the way. Thanks to Daywalker too, for hosting in the first place.
Pics below - not the best, I need to sort out a proper background.
Next up:
Trumpeter 1/32 Me109E-3
Dragon 1/32 Bf110C-7
Wingnutwings 1/32 Bristol F2B
Well, if I have no serious curve balls thrown my way I should have the main assembly done by the end of the week. And hopefully ready for a coat of paint.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

WOW! That Dora looks fantastic, good show! I updated page one for you!
Carlos- That's good news, you're really on a roll right now, aren't you?
Frank
Yes, once I get to the workdesk or paint area I get in the groove... I hope it lasts!
Oh man I am so close. Got the decals and a second coat of gloss on today. Had to call a halt as my four yer old tracked dog poo all over the house. Rug Doctor time!
Hopefully I can get the canopy on tomorrow night. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Right, here are a few picks, pre-Dullcote:
At the moment she is in the specialized drying room aka closet with a wet coat of Dullcoat on. I am hoping to get the canopy and prop on tonight and post some pics. Probably won't happen but if I can do it then I will be in within the time frame. Wish me luck!
Stumpjumper, that is one beautiful Dora!
Eptingmike, great looking paint job!
Dave
Thanks razordws - much appreciated.
Eptingmike - the home straight beckons. Looking good!

I have to agree-you guys have done/are doing a great job.
Stikpusher-your interior is coming together well. Looking forward to more progress pics.
Well, I got my repaint completed. Some minor decal issues-tearing & some silvering on the wing. Might try to dry brush away the silvering later, but not a big concern now. Canopy is complete, which is always one of the last things I do.....I hate painting canopies!
I hope to paint the exhaust, wheels & antenna's tonight along with apply the spinner decal on the prop hub. With a little luck and a tail wind I should be finished by the weekend.
Bob
Holy Moly... this GB is really humming! Great stuff guys, looks like you are just about to the finish line!
...bringin' up the rear....
Thank you ,Krow113
bobbaily Stikpusher-your interior is coming together well. Looking forward to more progress pics.
This afternoon I got a wash on the engine and some instrument decals on the panel. Hopefully the Solvaset will snuggle them down properly and I can have it all ready to photograph and glue together tomorrow.
OK I am calling it DONE!
This has been quite a learning experience for me, yessiree. There was some good learnin' and some bad learnin' that is for sure! This kit seemed to constantly throw up some sort of roadbump. Among other things I had issues with the primer going on fuzzy(temp was most likely too high) and I had to buy a second kit in order to cast a missing part. But it was fun and that is what really counts.
I am a little sad that I didn't get this done in the timeframe but I guess two days late isn't too bad!
Enjoy the pics and good job everyone...
Now what was the next Reich Defender subject? :)
Mike
Way to go Mike, that looks absolutely stunning! Thanks for being a part of the GB, I updated page one for you!
Thanks for your kind words and thank for hosting the GB!
Beautiful build Mike! Well worth the wait.
WOW !!! Although I have been lurking here of late I have to say you guys are still turning out beautiful 190s
Daywalker man I tell ya this has been one very successful group build so much so that I dont think the guys are gonna let you close it. Thats a good thing IMHO anyway.
Randy So many to build.......So little time
Daywalker is the very best GB host. I've been in about 20 or so, and Frank "wrote the book".
Reich DF4?
Nightfighters?
My father in law passed away last month- it's why I've been awol.
He flew nightfighters for the USAAF.

I can second that -- Frank gave me heaps of advice about running a GB before I launched my first in late '09 (Achtraden), and now I'm running three at once, with three previously completed (or, the last of the three overtime and a couple of builds still going... One of which is mine!).
Cheers, can't wait for RD IV, M/TB379

eptingmike Now what was the next Reich Defender subject? :) Mike
Beautiful Wurger Mike! I hope that mine looks somewhere near as good as yours When I can get it finished...
As far as the next RD subject... how about the Zerstoerers?
I did not quite get as far as I had hoped for this weekend. I had a few issues with the instrument decals I am using on the IP. But always time to do it again... I did get a wash in the cockpit and the fuselage halves glued together with the engine installed. I left the seam between the wing trailing edge and tail wheel well unglued so I can slip the IP and cockpit tub in place once they are done to my satisfaction. Here are a few pics.

engine with cowl ring in place
engine w/o cowl ring
and with wings in place (not glued) for pic...

Sorry to hear that Bill. We lose more and more of our vets everyday.
I believe Frank was considering the Stuka as the next GB subject.
Thank you guys, that really means a lot to me. I am so glad to hear that you enjoy these GB's, and I love seeing all of the stunning builds that result from them. It is truly a pleasure to be your host!
Randy- I think you're right! This one may go on for a while yet. The 109 GB went on for quite a while after the official close date, and that is absolutely fine with me!
Mike- Always glad to help! Your GB's bring out some of the best people and again, stunning pieces as well. Cheers! Now, I just gotta finish one of mine for yours.
Bill- I am very sorry to hear about your father in law. I know you were close, and am glad you were able to take him to Reno last year. I would really like to see your Beaufighter build when you do it, those Army Air Corps Beau's are the best looking of them all IMHO.
That Dora is sublime Stumpjumper.
Mike, great job on yours as well.
Beautiful stuff here gents. Bobbaily, nice to see some of your work finally. See you over in the other GB when you're done.
Eric
Stumpjumper, wow, great job.
Mike well done on an excellent finish, really nice paintwork.
Bob your moving along nicely, almost done I should think?
Stikpusher, nice work on the interior, the seat looks great.
Bondo, sorry to hear about your Father in law, you spoke of him often. Best wishes to you and your family.
Spike190, tigerman - thanks very much for your comments.
Stikpusher - am with Spike190, the seat looks terrific!
Thanks for the kind words about the seat guys. Those True Details resin replacement seats are certainly worth their small cost.
My 190's cockpit is all ready for insertion now. Instruments have a drop of clear glue over each dial face and the gun sight added. I also filed a notch into the instrument hood for the gun sight and touched up the dark gray that had been worn away in seam clean up and adding the notch.
More to follow next week.
Stik-continuing to look impressive. Keep up the good work.
I'm calling this one done. Couple of areas that could use some more sanding/detailing/weathering/etc, but I'm done. All things considered, I'm pleased.....started and finished in the same year!
Anyway, here she is:
Frank-thank you for running another great GB. Looking forward to RD IV....and V....and VI....
And thank you to all you guys that continue to offer support & advise.
Till next time....
Cheers
She's a beauty! Good work!!
