Casper: WOW! Great job man, that's some beautiful work. I built the Eduard Israeli version couple of years ago and it was a pretty good kit but the decals and paint scheme were a great deal less complex.

Julez: Looking forward to seeming the B-29. Trying to get more work on mine done but it seems to be some sort of magnet for dust... Dead

Ok, I'm calling this bird done. Sorry to those that wanted to see Tiger drop tanks but I'll save those for another day if I choose to do them. I like the look of the wings without at the moment.

Great little kit despite some of the Heller part fit problems, the Eduard extra goodies certainly do make this a nice project. One decal and one PE disaster but I am pretty happy with the results.

Now if you'll excuse me I hear a Blackbird calling...

Cheers

Congrats to all the finishers! I have been away for a bit (you know, the usual work/family/health trifecta) then dealing with the snow/ice.

The first/roster page is just awesome, great work  Yes

I re-started my humble Revell P-51Ds, will post some pics later this weekend.

Cheers all Beer

Not sure about the fuel tanks yet. I finished the weathering and glued the canopy on this evening. I'll have a look in the morning but I like the look of the bird without the tanks at the moment. I have tried a dummy fit and it all looked a bit busy for me.

We shall see...

Cheers

Ok, decalling done! 99% good, a couple of decals gave me grief, how glossy does it really need to be??!! With the coat of Future on the bird I was able to help the decals slide into place with a little more water. After mopping up the excess water I applied the Solvaset and most have dried really nicely.

These Eduard decals are excellent quality BTW.

Ok some drying time, attach all the doodads then a nice flat coat before a highlight of the panel lines with a very light black thinned wash.

Cheers

I was going to give the Mirage 48 hours to dry but I checked after 24 and the metaliser was well and truly dry. I got a new Dremel attachment, av very soft circular polishing cloth that is about 7 layers of cloth in a wheel. The last thing I used was one of those tightly packed felt nubs, have to be so careful with that as skipping over the edge and 'denting' the paint and the plastic with friction is so easy to do. Needless to say the cloth wheel works a whole lot better.

I sprayed a few coats of Future and I'll begin the decaling Saturday morning.

Cheers

 el_jere:

Hi there guys!

I need some help from your GB:

Do you know a web page, article or whatever about how to apply foil to models? (not the P-38 in FSM)

Any help would be aprciated.

best regards

Jeremias

El_jere I dont know of any websites other than the one here on FSM. But I am willing to try and answer any questions you have, and help out a much as I can. We do have a few accomplished foilers in this group who I am sure will help out as well. So feel free to ask questions or post here if you like

I never haven´t try to foil anything so I was looking for a step by step article, the only one I have read is the one in FSM.

When I start the biuld (now I´m working in another project) maybe I will be asking lots of question.

thanks a lot

regards

Jeremias

Casper yeah now that I think back a loooonng ways they did fly a bit, I stand corrected Embarrassed Yeah I used to watch the show too Stick out tongue

Yellow and red are the only colors I have nothing but trouble painting, but they sure look good when finished don't they.

Julez round I had 29 builds completed and with 3 months left to go I would call this group a resounding success Yeah

Yes there is going to be a NMF III I am thrilled to announce. You all have made hosting the group a blast and I thank you all for that, and to those who requested I host round III, I humbly thank you for your kindness.

They flew almost every episode! Somehow they tricked BA into flying every time.

I had a plan for the stripe technique and when it came out right I got excited and figured it needed a theme tune!

I used Gunze yellow but gotta say yellow is a very hard colour to apply even with air brushing. Good thing the stripes detract from the less than smooth paint job Wink

Hey you meet the minimum NMF on your build so no worries mate. Those tiger stripes came out great, what yellow did you use on the tail ? Its really gonna be an eye popper against the NMF wings too.

JULEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah you have offically started the 29 ?? Wheres the pictures man, aint official with out WIP pics ya know Eats

Don't want to subject you guys to the A team again, but hey...

Ok, 48 hours to let the metaliser dry and settle before the polishing begins. Nice thing about this colour scheme is the all gloss paints, after some Future the decals should just slide on. Hopefully some flat coat at the end will tone the colour contrast down a little.

Cheers

Ok, got all the masking done!! Around the wings, nose, tiger stripes etc.

Big job Stick out tongue

The H308 and H307 seem to be very similar in shade I was hoping for something a little darker for the nose so I mixed a few drops of Germany Gray into the airbrush. I also didn't want to waste the black leftover from the stripes so I did some panel pre-shading in prep for the metaliser coat. Once the tiger camo is dry I can mask off the fines to put down the Aluminum finish.

I think I just squeeze in with the 30% NMF component on this build. Wink

Would love to see an NMF III -- I might actually get something finished! I'm on my biggest output schedule ever but the bench looks like a WWII factory and things are moving down as fast as they can...

Guys and young lady, there have been a few asking if I am planning to host NMF III. The end of this one is still a few months off but I thought I would ask what you all think. Anyone want to see a round 3 ?

By all means! May well be porting my remaining builds over there...depends what I decide to do between the Mossie and the PBJ. May try to squeeze in one more NMF.

Casper, thats a lot of masking, will look very cool when it's doneYes

Randy, you already know my answerToast The B-29 is obviously going to be my last for this GB but in reality i've only just scratched the surface of NMF and have at least 3 projects here that i would do in NMF III...I reckon let this one run it's course and start the next one abouth a month later....
