Pordoi thank you for being such a good host and running the group. Although I didn't finish the base for my build I had fun building here and learned a bit about the bone. In fact I have been inspired to build one of my own maybe this year. Anyway thank you sir and I hope I can join another of your group builds. Toast

Well clearly I'm not going to finish on time. Unfortunately, the complexities of life got in the way of my hobby time so I haven't been able to airbrush anything. I will certainly finish it as soon as possible but it doesn't look like its getting done today Crying. Sorry gents!

OK. coming down to the wire.  Any last minute entries?

Will Kevin fix his camera in time?

Will eatthis decorate his B-1B with a bunch of colorful decals?

Inquiring minds want to know...

 Medicman71:

Definatly not going to finish on time. With the work on the Osprey and now a relative in very poor health, i'm not gonna get it done by the deadline. Sorry bout that.

Hey, no worries.  Sometimes life intervenes with more important things.  We had fun watching your progress even if the finished product isn't there by the 29th.  Whe  you do finish, take a few shots and post them so that we can see.

Don

That I will do. Now that the Osprey is one step away from being finished.

eatthis

iv got the decals on but it looks a bit sparse to me what do you think?

Most Bones don't have alot of markings.  Just usually the nose art, some tail numbers and low vis markings on the wing and fuselage.  Looks fine to me and I like the paint job.

You know, it might just take you guys a couple of days to post pics of models that you actually did complete before the deadline.  Wink  And with my busy schedule, it might just take me a day or two to harvest those photos and add them to the front page... WinkWink

My camera has been giving me trouble lately......Wink

I'll get to it, hopefully tonight if I can get to it before 10:30 PM. Cross your fingers, this'll come down to the wire.

Gosh, this reminds me of high school...here I am, deadline is 5 days away and I'm not finished yet! I'll just say the dog ate my model...no, I don't have a dog...I'll say the 4 year old ate it....no, that's not believable at all...

Well, with family and an inconvenient workshop (kitchen table) I haven't been able to finish the paint job yet. Though the Tornado is masked with silly putty just waiting for me to show it some attention. I'll get to it, hopefully tonight if I can get to it before 10:30 PM. Cross your fingers, this'll come down to the wire.

Happy Easter to everyone. Here at work so I can't work on the Tomcat right now.

How bout you guys send some of that rain down here. We're in a very serious drought. We're having wild fires all the time too.

Thanks Don.  Happy Easter to you as well.  You have been getting rained on pretty good haven't ya.

I got a coat of primer on the Tomcat.  I have a few spots to touch up.  I may be able to spray the gloss black tonight.

I really don't think I will be able to finish this build in time.  I will do what I can and post pics as I go.  I don't want to short change the build.   No big deal though.  I got the Bone completed in time and, for me, that was a challenge in itself.

A Happy Easter Sunday to all of you Swing Wing GBers who celebrate this holiday.

And if you're in the US Midwest, I hope that you stay dry.  We've had 7 inches of rain since Friday evening and another round of heavy showers is approaching tonight and tomorrow.

Really nice detail painting on the seats, Kevin.  Everything looks like it's coming together nicely with your Tomcat.  I'm waiting to see it with a coat of paint.

Eatthis, keep on going with the Bones.  Let's see how close to completion you are when the bell rings on the 29th.

I got the ejection seats all painted up.  They look ok.  I will get  a gew pics of those up tonight or tomorrow.  I should get some painting done within a day or two I hope.   Once I get the seats installed will only have to glue the canopy on and then head to the paint shop.  This particular plane doesn't have a lot of stencil markings to worry about.

The Tornado is looking great too.  Keep up the good work.

Glad you made it back home safe Don.

Hey, I'm back from Poland.  Didn't get  to check in very frequently while i was gone, so it's great to see some of the progress that has been made.  We're about 10 days to go with this GB; into the home stretch. And there's still several Tomcats that are being worked on and eatthis has some B-1s that are close to completion.

For those of you who are still working, keep us updated!

Agree!  nice progress on the Tornado.  Looks like you'll have no problem finishing by next week.  Looking forward to seeing the finished model.

Hi guys, so I'm trying to beat the deadline here. Happy to say I finally have made some progress! Its hard for me to paint since I don't have a dedicated work space. Whenever I model I take over the kitchen table but that gets difficult if the wife and kids are still up and about. Any how, here is the progress on my variable-geometrically challenged Tornado...

Got the white base down for the winter camo scheme and some light preshading shows through. I should get the green on it tonight (crossing my fingers, holding my breath, knocking on wood) and if all goes well, will be done over the weekend. Hoorah!

Ok. As requested.......the different nose pics. The kit nose in the dark grey one on the left and the Steel Beach one is the tan on on the right. You can really see the difference. Sooooo worth getting.

 Medicman71:

I had the same problem the the nose too. That's why I bought a resin replacement nose.

The kit nose is that far off?  Medicman, take a side by side photo of the kit part and your resin replacement  if you get a chance.

Folks, I'm off to Krakow, Poland for a week on business, so will likely have spotty coverage of the boards.  I'm sure that you will keep up the sprint to the finish.  Will check in when I can.

Don

Yeah I can do that. I'll take a pic tomorrow. The kits nose is horrible. I had to replace it.

Nice progress, Kevin.  I like your approach with the wings.  Don't throw in the towel just yet with the intake seam.  give it a go at smoothing it out.  If it doesn't work, there is always the option of FOD covers at a later date.

eatthis

whats the purpose of that mate?

Ditto

I had the same problem the the nose too. That's why I bought a resin replacement nose. I'm using FOD covers on mine. I was told that you're not gonna fix the gap in the intakes and to just get the FOD covers. It is the same mold by the way. I realized that there's the parts to make a D version in mine.
