Macattack I will have to remember your wing trick for my next F-14 build thats really a slick one. I think the worst part of my build were the gaps ( read valleys ) in the intakes. Doesnt look like yours are as bad as mine were.

Here are a few pics of the inside of the intakes. Nice gap to deal with there. I was thinking of getting some FOD covers but I think it will take away from the look of this particular jet's lines.
I got the engine intake sections glued on. Ugh...
I sanded the kit's radome to shape. I have no idea what Revell did when the molded this piece. It looks like it was melted and stretched out a bit. It looks OK now I guess. I added a bit of weight in there to prevent tail sitting. I used up just about all my fishing weights on the Bone. I barely had enough for this.

Here are some progress pics.
This is what I did to the wing connector areas. I first cut off the "actuators" then I used the motor tool to remove some plastic to enable the wings to be attached.
Works like a charm. Like I posted before, they just kinda snap in place now.
pordoi Well the attention to detail shows. A 15/0 brush!! I'd need the optivisor just to see the bristles on that thing! Although,... maybe I'll make my own 15/0 by pulling out all the bristles save one from my old 5/0 pointer...

Thanks again. I actually removed about 1/3 of the bristles from the 15/0 brush already. I think they have 20/0 brushes available though.
Picking out buttons one at a time is a little time consuming but I think it looks a little better IMO. I guess I just haven't aced the dry brushing course.
I performed the surgury on the wings using a motor tool. They actually "snap" into place. I don't think I will even have to glue them in. I will post of few pics of what I changed tonight.
Oh yeah. The canopy and windscreen sprue on this kit is great. No seam line and crystal clear. I am sure the fit will be horrible though. 2 outta 3 ain't bad....

macattack80 Thanks Don. Actually I use a 15/0 spotter brush with some Model Master enamel paint to pick out all the buttons and switches. The optivisor helps my eyes not stay crossed

Looking pretty sharp, Kevin. I always struggle a bit getting nice clean lines between the instrument panels and around all the buttons and switches. You have done a good job with that. Is this all hand painted, doesn't look to be drybrushed. Or did you use gray pencil or Sharpie?
Keep going, guy. Still over 3 weeks remain.
OK, I see. You display your models in the same room that you rigged up that pulley system to paint the B-1B . I do like the way that you mount your aircraft "in flight". I will have to try that sometime soon. Thanks for the photos.

I got the cockpit in the fuselage. The fit was tight but within reason. I had to do some trimming on a few of the PE parts to get it to sit right.

Bench time has been a bit sparse as of late. I almost got the cockpit done. Most of the other sub assemblies are already together. So after I get the pit installed the rest should move along relatively quickly. I know these Revell Tomcats can be a little trouble. I am ready for any seam after building the Bone!

So a question for you, eatthis. Even at 1/72, these Bones are quite large. So where are you going to put all of these? For me, finding a place for the 1/48 was hard enough, let alone that and a 1/72 (or is it two?). Also, what are the plans for further painting? Or is the plan to do a two tone camo and monotone aircraft?
im currently having a mare iv manedged to break the nose gear TWICE and then when iv tried to drill a hole to put a supporting rod in it, its all fell apart lol iv been able to cobble something together im waiting for the paint to dry then il see if it fits

Ah, I see. Although I don't think it really matters; you probably could use either part for the wheels up configuration.

OK, here are the gear bays without doors.
There are no locating tabs in the bays or on the doors to help alignment, so the doors simply have to be glued along the recessed edges (in the picture above) that are present around the bays.
Here are the klarger doors attached along the centerline. To maintain the correct space between them, I inserted some plastic stoch between the doors (not visible in the photo), and taped the doors until the glue had dried.
Did the same for the smaller outer bay doors, except that the spacer was between the doors and the engine nacelles. Does that make sense?
The order of assembly that I used was to install the outer doors first, then glue the landing gear, then install the centerline doors last.
