The B-17 conversion is very neat,,never heard of that variant...

I got sidetracked on another project,, but thought I'd share these pics of Korea in full size diorama mode from National Museum of the Marine Corps,,I got some great ideas there..

Will post some WIP pics of my 120mm fig tomorrow night.

Some great pics, I love that museum, when did you go? I live about 15 minutes away from the museum.

On a side-note to those pictures of the USMC Museum you posted. The ones of the room with the Chosin Resovoir is actually depicting Fox Hill. If anybody wants to read about it, a GREAT book is "The Last Stand of Fox Company: A true story of US Marines in combat" I forget who it's by though.

I was there for the 2nd time just 2 weeks ago. This time took my wife. I was at school at Quantico 3 times from the 70s thru the 80s. Much has changed..but the museum is terrific...the store has some outstanding books and of course waaay too many trinkets for us old retired grunts!

I would love to do a shadow box of Fox Hill ...maybe just maybe...how long is this build anyway

And I just ordered a USMC OY-2 Stinson Korea version....

Hi everyone ;

John [jeaton01] I really appreciate you posting the F-80 parts to me I look forward to receiving them in the mail . I picked up some PE for the cockpit of the Airfix F-80 as well as a nice resin pilots seat .

The A-26B Invader and associated gear doors and engine nacelles are all masked and ready for the spraybooth .

The Sea Fury is also  ready for the paint shop along with the two P-51D Mustangs .

I'll be using Tamiya's AS-12 Bare metal silver in the rattle cans for the P-51's .

I've put together the two H03S-1's , both will be finished in gloss Sea Blue , one for the Navy and the other a Marine Corps bird . There both ready for masking and will follow the other four aircraft into the spraybooth shortly .

The front cockpit glazing is a little under size for the front fuselage of the H03S-1's but it's not all that noticable . The support Struts for the landing gear are just sitting in place , so I can remove them to spray to seperatly .

Stik , congrat's on your completed F6F-3 , she looks great and well a deserved 1st place

Tonka , good luck with your OY-2 Stinson bird  , I saw that kit over at Hannants and actually had her in the shopping basket a couple of times but when I got to the online checkout I ended up removing her to keep the cost down on my orders . I'll wait and see how your build turns out and I might think about getting one afterall .

Anyway I've got airbrushing and spraying ahead me over the next few days , hopfully everything will work out .

Mikey, glad I could help.  Saw your Grumman GB.  Looks cool, and I have plenty of them in the stash.  If I can get a couple of other builds done, I will join that one.  That will be a hard one to pick though.  I have an F3F-2 and a tomcat and almost everything in between.

Helo, your assembly line is looking great! Everything is progressing smoothly it looks like.

Helo-34: Looks good! which HOS kits are you building? Those things are hard to come by! I have seen MPM and I think a Mach kit out there and that is about it. Although it seems like Italeri is coming out with more kits. At least I have been seeing "new" kits on Ebay lately.

A nice decal sheet from Eagle Strike F-86's over Korea along with some more RAAF and RN decals for Mustangs and Sea Fury's

Two great books and the B-29A looks awesome , A nice little M4 Sherman for my first attempt at armor

My brother knocked my socks off with this ....

I've been talking about getting a Rotorcraft minidrill for years , my brother is awesome !!!

Hannants in the UK sent me a email about a couple of kits I had on back order and were now available , the Sword P-80 Shooting Star over Korea and Swords RF-80 Shooting Star ; The minimum  order for non flat Items [books decals etc] is 30 pounds , so to make up the difference I ordered this book..

A great day all round and I am very lucky to have a great family too .

Thank's for the birthday wishes railfan 233 , Travis you could be forgiven that it's actually both days , as some of my wonderful gifts were wrapped in christmas paper , my brother said he ran out of birthday wrapping .

It will be a few weeks before I can start the Mariner ; Unfortunatly all the clear parts are missing from the kit .

I took a pic of the kit and wrote a request for replacement parts ,

I'll add my details to the letter and post it this afternoon .

John, the kit clear parts are suitable only for masters for vacforming new ones.  Mach 2 just can't get that part right.  I sure wish Falcon would do a replacement set for this kit because the rest of the moldings are not bad at all.  I have one of these kits and so does Bondo.  I plan to make new clear parts or use some from an Execuform vac kit I also have.

I officially started!!!!!  I did manage to get the tail section and some interior bits assembled on the HRS-2.  Man, I haven't built in 1/72nd scale in a while.  The model seems so little.  The detail is pretty good though.  I will post some pics soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN!!!!!! Nice score!!!!!!!!! I know a place here in Melbourne that has a hasegawa Mariner that I am thinking of getting. It's a later version, I think maybe Vietnam era.  Sounds like you had a great day!!!

And congrads Helo on some great stuff! I'm sure you'll enjoy the B-29, excellent kit other than all the injection pin holes in the interior. Most of them probably wouldn't show but I spent the time filling all mine anyway.

Can't say I've much to report, I've been gluing little fiddly bits of metal to the K1A1. Seems the more tiny PE thingies I glue to her the more there seems to be left.

Happy Birthday Helo! it looks like you made out very well. The kits are all fun, but that motor tool will amaze you when you start realizing how much quicker it goes to use that rather than doing it with manual hand tools (files, saws, etc.). Quite a bit of fun to learn to use!

Not much of an update but anyway am posting to show that I'm making some progress.

Please excuse George Peppard's smiling face, I put the left side threads on to see how she's look and grabbed the first thing I saw to prop up the other side:

I don't mind George's face at all (or should that read Hannibal's face?) I'm a huge fan of the A-TEAM. I still havn't seen the movie yet, but I love watching the re-runs on the TV.

[I don't know why, but I can see Hannibal in the comander's coupola, with B.A. in the driver's hatch. Mabe it's just me]

Rail I must admit the A-Team movie was pretty good. I was skeptical when the gf wanted to see it at first because I had the impression that it was going to be a TV show but longer. A bit far fetched at some points but overall a decent movie.

BTW your target is looking good Gamera

Gamera, your K1A1 is looking great! Is that a single piece stowage in the bustle rack? It looks really good in resin and will probably look killer once painted. I am glad to see you took up the modern/current aspect of this GB.
