Gamera, if that was a US tank, I'd say they were asking for directions to Texas street!  In the old days anyways.  I think it is all Russians there now.  Really cool, the girls add a nice touch to a great tank.

Stik, question:  why two different greens?  One looks like interior green, and the other?  Euro Green/Medium green?  Just curious, I guess I never paid enough attention to notice two different greens.  Looking forward to seeing the Cent.

Well I based the two greens off an F-86 I found as a range target. It had the darker green in certain areas and interior green in others. The darker green was called Dull Dark Green at that time, whichis a nearly identical shade as 34092. For this kit I used Polly Scale RAAF Foliage Green. I think it works. I was gonna do the cockpit in Interior Green also but then my research showed Gray there on the F-86F.

believe it or not this was an F-86... I had to scrounge thru the wreckage for a data plate to ID the aircraft it was so shot up... I knew these pics would come in handy one day

I've been thinking (of course, my wife says I'm dangerous when I do :-) ...

In the current issue of FSM, there are 2 photos from a previous article, showing the use of tempera paints as a wash on panel lines (in this case, a P-51) ...

If one were to do that before the color coats, would that provide the same effect as pre-shading ? ... if so, wouldn't that be much easier to do than using your airbrush, changing the pressure you normally shoot with and hope that you've steady hands ? ...

I am calling this one done.  I tried a few new things on this build like using poster tack for masking the windows.  I wasn't too happy with the result.  I figured it would be easier than trying to mask all the windows seperately because the were a little curvey, not that it's a bad thing...  The worst was the frames on the windshield.  Not to clean of a line.  I tried to straighten them up by scraping off some paint with a toothpick.  It helped a little bit.

I did some detail colors in the cockpit of my Saber yesterday and applied a burnt umber was this morning.

She's looking good macattack, never tried blutack for masking, I've recently switched off masking tape and onto parafilm, I'm getting some nice results with it. It doesn't leave any residue, and if you dont stretch it too much paint and varnish won't soak through. You do need a steady hand and a very sharp knife to cut it, but it means now I can glue on canopies before primer, paint and varnish. My models are looking sooo much better for that now!

Do you use a # 11 blade on the parafilm ? ... my luck has been that I either cut or scratch the clear parts, but then again, I've not used parafilm - just clear tape or Tamiya yellow tape ...

Parafilm M is great stuff!!!  But you gotta trim it with a new sharp blade or it will tear a bit rough. It is ok to use for touch ups over metallic finishes or after decals have been applied and sealed in. Something you would NEVER do with any tape or liquid mask.

Thanks for the comment Dr. Win!  I have some Parafilm M actually.  I just couldnt get it to stay down while I was attempting to cut it.  Same thing with masking tape believe it or not.  I just stuffed some blutak on and pushed it to the edges of the window frames.  Went on easier but the finish wasn't as good. 

I will second that on the metallic finishes Stikpusher.  Parafilm M and Post-it notes seem to work great for small masking jobs.

Thanks Gamera.  They are too awful bad I guess.  Better then the way they would have looked if I had painted the frames.

Thanks Tonka!  Those are actually the kit decals.  They worked pretty good too.  The box art doesn't show that scheme on the front but they are in there.

Sorry about the long delay between updates but me and this M26 have come to a resolution, that being COMPLETE (finally)

I may go back and revisit the weathering on the tracks, doesn't look right to me, and just remembered I need to paint the headlights as well, but otherwise I'm happy with it. I went for a little damage and plenty of sand/dust to suit much of the enviroment of Korea.

Subject is a US Marine, 1st Tank Battalion, Korea 1950 vehicle (Doesn't designate any particular area).
