Hey, Great work so far!

I have been fiddling around with my S.A.F.S. suits, weathering them up. Added some chipping and rust to one of them, and I plan to do the same to the other. I'll get them sprayed and post some pics, soon.

Well here is some more progress on the Mel. Ive got a base coat of Vallejo Desert Yellow on and a spur of the moment white face. Ive added the shields, intake, and hose connections. I am considering adding a cooling unit, hydation system, and commanders star antanae. Well here it is.

Again, I couldn't leave well enough alone.  I had to add some more detail, so no paint was applied last weekend.

After seeing some of the pictures of the new large scale Nutrocker, posted on HLJ.com's webpage, I whipped up some smoke grenade launchers and wired them.

I've been applying more putty and doing some sanding.  Hopefully, I'll have some primer on it THIS weekend, but don't count on it. Wink

I'm still plugging away on my build too.  I hope to have it ready for paint by the end of the weekend.

Ok so looks like everyone has dropped out, wussies. Heres my update on the Mel. Joints are finished and Ive added texture using American Accents Terra Cotta spray paint from Home Depot. I am about 50% finished with the display base.

Hi Model Builder.  I like those joints.  What material are you using to sculpt them?

I am using Milliput

Go Modelbuilder, like what you have done with the joint covers.  You have done a great job as well, and to those who did not know, this is his 1st Ma.K build, but surely not his 1st model.  Look forward to more of this, keep it up buddy.Big Smile

I have seen many Nuts done and have seen some really well thought out builds, your's surpasses all I have seen to date.  Makes me wonder, what could you do with the new one?  I am most impressed with this, I thought I had put some effort into the last one I built, boy I did nothing compaired to your little beasty.  Good job and I sure lok forward to seeing this monster with some color.  Keep up the great work.

I'm envious, GM.  I really want one of those large Nutrockers!  I doubt that I'll ever get one.  I started off replacing some of the molded on detail, but when I saw some of the pictures from the larger version, I've been adding more.

I've been working steadily, but slowly.  I've been having trouble with getting good close-up pictures with my camera, otherwise I'd have posted earlier.

I glued the rear of the bottom hull first, since it fir best, and let it dry.  You can see that it takes a lot of pressure to get the rest of the bottom hull to mate with the top.  I still had to do some putty work to hide some gaps.

I made a light bulb for the search light from some clear parts tree.  I didn't much like the thickness of the searchlight wall, so I used the motor tool to grind it out.

You can see the bulb in place, and some silver paint as the reflector.

I replaced a doo-dad on the laser cannon with another piece of clear parts tree.

I finished making the socket to hold the laser cannon to the turret.  I whipped up some gizmos to represent the search light motor.

Here are some close up shots.  Both the radar dish and antenna are movable.  The dish is just sitting in a hole, so don't turn the Nutrocker over. Wink

A little copper wire replaced the radar dish power cable and some styrene tabs for hold downs.

A little copper wire super-glued to a piece of shaped styrene rod makes the whip antenna spring.  The small access door on the side had the hinges only on the door.  I scraped them off and created new hinges on the hull.  The small "bolts" all over the hull are made from syringe tubing.

I replaced some of the molded on detail with stretched sprue, styrene rod and copper wire.

It's about ready for paint now, unless you guys can think of anything else for me to add.

I want to make a vignette, so I've been putting some polyurethane on a hunk of wood to get it ready for ground work.

See ya,

m@

Then you keep posting your build, modelbuilder.  I have waited all this time for you and now you are  in the spot light?  Looking forward to you painting this puppy.  I do agree, more does need to be posting, but I also understand it is the Holidays and life does go on.  Just a foot note:  went to post yesterday and picked up a large package from Japan.  Got the Nut just in time for Christmas.  All I can say is WOOOOOOOWSurprise

Will post some photos of the kit soon.

Merry Christmas to all. and to all a good Ma.k

Hi modelbuilder o/

I like your new pose.  Can I get a pic of the left foot?  I'd like to see it a bit closer.

Perhaps you could lean the mel forward a bit?  Maybe put a little more weight on the left foot, and raise the heel of the right foot a bit more.

Well some more progress on the Mel. Have the display base pretty defined and thanks to Gunpla, I am experimenting with the pose. He mentioned it would look cool trying to negotiate the rise, well here it is. I pictured a Mel with one foot on the rise and bracing itself with the panzerfaust. What do you think?

I agree, Gunp.  I usually put a build away when it comes to painting.  I always dread painting, it's my least favorite part.  Perhaps I could get Cosmic to come down here to do that honers, especially since he has some mad painting skills! Big Smile

I am again well pleased with the quality of the work I keep seeing being turned out on this GB.  No one here has posted a weak build and all have something to learn from.  I for one believe this GB is one of the successful ones here on the Forum.

Hi Modelbuilder,

I like your dio idea a lot.  The pose looks good too.  I get the impression that it's about to fire it's arm weapon.  If that isn't the case, you might want to lower the arm a bit.  Also, you might want to reverse the position of the legs so the right leg is forward (or reverse the positions of the arms), I think it might give the pose a more natural walking look.

I'm looking forward to seeing your ground work!

m@

Dittto, great job and I too love the idea you have come up with for the base.  Great hack job on the stock hand.  Just as Watchmann brought, adjust you pose to look more a natural looking pose/walk.  I stood in front of a mirror and moved my legs/arms as if walking to get a good picture of human movement.  lol did I confess this.

Well today I focused on the Panzerfaust and hand, hope I didnt screw up. I had considered buying after market gundam hands but wanted to try my hand and modifying the kit. I began by cutting the whole thumb away from  the rest of the hand then seperated the fingers. Atempted to leave them attached to the hand and cut slices at the joints to bend them, didnt work. So I cut them all lose them one at a time cut small slices at the joints and reglued them then bent them around the Panzerfaust. The thumb was the most difficult. It had to be completely reshaped. For the Panzerfaust I used a section of styrene tubing with the right outside diameter and replaced the kit part. what do you think?
